yes, why? :D I think Brandon missed a beat on this. old school sci-fi tended to use "laser"s that are invisible due to how real lasers... actually have very little to let you see them. Star trek and a bunch of more modern sci-fi use flashy beams, but.... old-school used a realism logic for not having that.
Kind of. I had this back in the day on VHS (I'm old), but I'd forgotten how much I loved this absolutely bonkers piece of nonsense until I saw Brandon ripping it a new one 😀😀😀
@@anthonyb27 I recognize the typical Theremin sounds of the fifties, but also some electronic machine must have been invoved to produce this exuberant soundscape. My conclusion is that they started producing in the early fifties & got stuck in a timeloop, desperately tried to update based on the short glimses of the outside world they could catch, until they escaped one year after Star Wars. Shit happens!
@hanswissmeyer9950 🤔Hmmm, or perhaps while in the timeloop they saw the upheaval and chaos of the 60's. They then chose to remain in the timeloop and exited only after Star Wars, seeing that sci-fi was actually accepted again.
This one looks heavily inspired by Space: 1999, which first aired in 1975. The sets, costumes, ships and even the plot could have been an episode of that Gerry Anderson TV series. Other items align closely to Star Wars, especially the glowing sword fight scene. I wish we could have a better view of the spaceship models.
I enjoyed this lavish, kitschy, offbeat space opera. The electronic music score was groundbreaking in 1978, something that didn't become a sci-fi staple until the '80s, notably Georgio Moroder's METROPOLIS (1984). Would love to see this underrated gem fully restored in all its colorful glory on Blu-ray some day.

I always find it hard to believe how much ultra-cheesy sci-fi was made after others before them set the example of how to do sci-fi CORRECTLY. How was something like this made AFTER 2001 A Space Odyssey or Star Wars?
Unthinkable because there are people that just like to make films? And didn't have the big budget or talent, there are even "Bad and cheesy movies made today 🤷🏼♂️
Bcuz classrooms can become rather derivative. Especially when brand royalties apply. Purists have no meaning to those who prefer fast cash. From stuffed crass.
PLOT: An alien civilisation, which facing eminent extinction, kidnaps two famous genetic scientists from Earth. A troop of soldiers is dispatched to combat the humanoid robots and rescue the victims.
Golden Slipper HeMan clones!? How adorable! I wonder if they’ll take trade ins on super swishy leisure suits?! From Spaceship Trippy… and is this about sublimating The Jews? Either or will do. This show ain’t half bad.
Y cuando en el futuro todos los soldados sean clones con genes guerreros y sin sentimientos, por supuesto con buena punteria no como los soldados del min 31, que puede ser cómico pero tambien una terrorifica realidad,.

I like spaghetti westerns, and spaghetti sci-fi. The saucer, the better..
10:42 - I can tell the guy is getting a bit of a crisp in the old cucumber during that talk. I think he was ready to give princess there a kiss.
Anyone else here because of Brandon Tenold?

Hard to believe this was made in 1978...68, maybe, 58, definitely
Yeah, this definitely has a 60's feel.

I'm watching it now, and it reminds me of space 1999. 😅Lol

Electronic Music score? Two words: Forbidden Planet (1956)
Logan’s Run 1976, Sorcerer 1977, and a few more before those had electronic scores.
You will spend most of the movie wanting to yell..."FOCUS!".
😅
Love this! God Bless the Cheesemakers!
This reminds me so much of The Beast from Space, although sure which was released first.

Ist because the human race is not interested in bright futures. We r slaves to evolution still. Sci fi gets no interest

lol.
Star Wars is not a sci-fi. Its rather fantasy western in space.

Thanks for posting a great movie!!

They must have gotten ahold of some left over purple wigs from the BBC show "UFO" and bleached them blonde.
DEFINITELY MY FAVORITE ❤
Yeah, but you're only about 4 years old, so how would you know? 🤡
Man of Antor. Were is that ? Fab flick. Thanks. Dave
Toblerone!
Brilliant
Pretty cool 😎 👌 👍
Thanks for watching!!
Looks like this was made in my parents basement.
Just noting that the aspect ratio should be 4:3, not widescreen. The planets look fat.
Soo Sickle did the set construction????!!!……Knew it!!!!……………🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂🔥✌️🤘😎😜👾👾👾👾
Oh yes there’s no difference in this movie and Star Wars!!!
Instead of people, puppets would have made this movie a Thunder Bird movie.
3 degrees above zero... Let's go recon...😮 NO WAY...
As cheesy as this is, they predicted the Apple watch (check the woman's wrist in the beginning). The resemblance is more than striking.
When bras were forbidden to wear in (sci-fi) movies.
If you like 1950s-1960s style B movies, keep watching, otherwise, save yourself some effort.
В этом же году Джордж Лукас начал снимать свои Звёздные войны. В 10 раз лучше, чем эта жалкая поделка....
Yes
Thanks but looks cropped, like 4/3 : 1:02:14

Damn I wonder what it was like to film this
Well it looks like the camera man was drunk, so he probably doesn't remember or maybe he thinks it was all some bad fever dream..
