I’ve been watching Charlie Hunter on repeat playing guit-bass part to this and trying to wrap my honky head around how good his playing was/is and how much I loved this album. I had it playing continuously living in a student apartment on to rooftop of 98th between Park and Madison on summer evenings. Man, that was cool.
D'Angelo and the entire band behind Voodoo made such an incredible album. Charlie Hunter's guitar and bass work in this album particularly is some of the most virtuosic and innovative instrumentalism ever recorded
