Sounds like from the dialog between the tower that maybe they could see on radar that the approach was too low which is why they reminded the pilot what the altimeter setting is because that is usually not provided during the approach, the pilot would already have that information from ATIS. ATC often will first remind the pilot of the altimeter setting when they see a deviation from the assigned altitude before they ask them why are they not at the assigned altitude - just a guess on my part.

@@Jeff_Bieren Funny 2: the liveatc footage shows the aircraft inbound to land rwy 10. The video shows it landing rwy 01, so what happened to the liveatc segment or was the video of another SWA flight? Oh, looking at flightaware for this flight, it was trying to land rwy 10 because of the hvy storms in the bay area (I reside east of the bay and can attest to the fierceness of the storm cells Sunday and it indeed diverted to Ft Lauderdale.
I just never want to fly again 😢
Lined up to land on the Bridge
Flying manually in cloudy and rainy weather….
My guess would be a wrong sealevel reading.
Given enough time whatever can go wrong will go wrong. The FAA needs to put something in place so pilots can’t mistake the causeway for the airport again. Maybe that’s not what happened here… time will tell
What is with SOUTHWEST????????.... IM STAYING AWAY.....
Damn straight. I was well. Their pilots are fucked up.
It was hard to pay attention to this story, seeing there was such a beautiful 😍 Moon in front of it.
Those DEI hires are working out accordingly
I hope that you're being sarcastic because they sounded like White guys to me.
@@jamesjohnson1050 how racist to assume they're white just because of their voices.
@woottastic , and how racist of you to assume that they were minorities just because it was pilot error.
Is this the new excuse for white people now? First it was Obama now this. Take responsibility for your own race mess ups.
@jamesjohnson1050 never said I did assume that. Youre the one who plainly stated that they "sound white"
Get it together fast SOUTHWEST!!!!!
WTF?!!!! Where are they getting their pilots from???!!!!
I always liked Southwest……better get their stuff together…..didn’t mention if it was a rain storm…..my sisters plane got diverted to Orlando years ago because of bad weather in Tampa….
I was just on a SWA flight from Miami to Nashville last week. We originally couldn’t land in Nashville because of the weather so we circled the air for roughly 40 minutes. Then we had 2 failed landing attempts where I could see the runway and then we took off again. Pilots said it was an autopilot issue and we eventually had to divert to Louisville to refuel. It felt very chaotic.
So what happened to the pilot on that flight.what was his explanation, for why he was so low at that far away for the landing
Most likely DEI Hires!
I know I will NEVER be flying on any airlines ever again! Too dangerous!
So what will you be flying on?
It is a DEI issue. That was confirmed to me by a pilot that works for American Airlines. Very concerning even for the pilots on other airlines.
EVERYTHING is a DEI issue for you isn’t it. SMH!
@@mrsrichard7835, he probably didn't even watch the whole video. The pilots were White guys.
I think everyone knows damn well the overwhelming majority of pilots across most major and regional US airlines are white men. Period. This DEI narrative is bull. That’s a low key way of spewing a racist under tone and narrative. All near misses and crashes; those pilots were not minorities. So how is this a DEI issue if these pilots are not minorities?
Thank God the ATC knew his job unlike the pilots 😮
I use to work for One Touch Direct near Hoover and Hillsborough Avenue near TIA. Southwest would descend really low.
You forgot to mention the three low altitude errors in Hawaii...
I never fly SWA, even though it serves my local airport.
Same. Love Field is one of the hubs for SWA, and although it’s closer we always just fly American out of DFW.
Cleared for a visual approach and used none of the instrument aids that were available. Mistook the highway for the runway.
I wonder if this was an DEI problem?
No doubt. Didn't know they are on the diversity bandwagon. I won't fly with them anymore. Too many crashes in the past with other air lines due to inexperienced pilots
Supposedly Southwest (ESG corporation like most corporations are) cut required pilot hours in turbine engine planes for new hires from 1,000 hours to 500 hours in February 2023. ESG is another version of DEI and its spread throughout the corporate world is largely the handiwork BlackRock's Larry Fink.
Y'all are so quick to blame DEI. If you listen to the recording, the pilots sound like White guys. So, they must be DEI hires too.
A dark DEI problem
@PS2Sniper , the pilots were White males. I guess that they were DEI hires too.
They get their license out of a cereal box for low budget airlines. Get what you pay for and sometimes less.
actual southwest has a very good flight record and one of the most senior pilot class.
Could this be the result of DEI…? 🤔🤓
DEI hires. Licensing pilots that aren’t passing their training
Who was the pilot!?
Don't panic. The pilot was looking for golf balls to use later.
Let’s here it for DEI hiring
I once applied for one of four (4) positions with the Pinellas County Government in which I was fully qualified. I was not successful. I knew the department head personally and asked him why I was not hired. He told me privately that I was the wrong color.
Omg its scary to fly these days
Could it be DEI at work?
ESG (compliments largely of BlackRock's Larry Fink) - a Stockmarket oriented version of DEI.
Anyone dumb enough to fly these days is taking an unnecessary risk with their lives.
At least they have some balls
One day we all will wake up to breaking news to a major crash. It’s only a matter of time. These close calls are too many.
3 times in a short time there is a problem they better get a handle on it.
They act like this is the first time. This happens a lot. More then reported
This happens every day in San Diego CA. on a normal approach
In San Diego, you basically skirt the edge of the tallest buildings downtown.
@@drewwho4512 And less than 200 ft. above I-5
The truth 😂
Has anyone checked the possibility of D.E.I. hiring playing a role? There has been a pilot shortage in the industry.
Yes: The Federal Aviation Administration is actively recruiting workers who suffer “severe intellectual” disabilities, psychiatric problems and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency's website.
You don’t even know what DEI means.
There's likely pressures from the Feds to keep that under the rug. When we start seeing planes fly into mountains again like 20-30 years ago then they might take a second look.
Absolutely!
If they got rid of the 1500 hour rule they would have more pilots. That DEI stuff is a frigging joke
Southwest is having a lot of close calls. Could it be the DEI hires?
More garbage of course. Study your aviation history and don’t be stupid
To bad the old school military trained pilots have retired or passed on. The sully sullenbergers. Why not hired the pilots back who refused the jib jab?
Was anybody looking out the window?
You can bet I would have been.
The blinds were down.
Another case of HR checking off the diversity box.
Did you notice these pilots were white males?
00:32 what flights ?
It AINT 🐎 horse shoes it flying. These are trained pilots & SWA has the safest flying record in the UNITED STATES !
Young inexperienced pilots ., all computer training
Pilots at Southwest must be getting their licenses out of the damn Cracker Jack Box.😮
Why was the flight diverted? Why not a go around?
Its alright, the pilot thought he was landing at John Wayne. 😂
Um, hire qualified pilots?
Was it a dark DEI pilot?
The sorority girl is really doing a great job of reporting on near disaster.
We're not going to get the truth.
Who are the pilots and copilots???
Come on! We all know how they got there and it is pilot error! Actually it’s company error and the people they are hiring who are not qualified to be in that flight deck! It’s DEI hiring at its best!
But what happened? The retired pilot says it must've been pilot error. Does he know what happened? Did they forget to adjust their altimeter for Tampa?
Mind boggling. What was the visibility like? If it was poor, what was going on with the glideslope on the ILS ??? And if things don't look right i.e. distance from runway to altitude, aren't they monitoring their instruments in case?? Complacency and putting all your faith in the automation.
Tampa Bay Area "bad weather". It's a common occurrence. Reminds me of the bad weather that occurred the morning of the 1980 Sunshine Skyway Bridge disaster.
Don’t ever call Tampa “Bay Area” ever again.
@@Dnttrip304 I lived in "Penniless" County for 25 years before finally getting out of Florida, and the Media always referred to that region as the "Bay Area". Oh, "Tampa Bay" is a body of water with a lot of fish and sea life contained therein. I cringe when I hear the sports Media "up north" saying that the Rays or the Buccaneers "are playing in Tampa Bay"..... If they did they might drown. Oh BTW, I always loved Tampa! Cheers!
Didn't this happen in Hawaii too a couple months ago? I believe going to Kauai but rerouted to Honolulu.
Firm action emplyee
Not everything is DEI
DEI+737MAX=Lawn dart
Greedy Corporate boing white executives + Boing Max = Lawn dart!!
Other people get their close calls on the news but holy crap it I capture something that's big news it goes unseen , my close call video capture of airliners crossing eachother at 38,000 feet!!!!! But no one cares about what I got on video until it hits the ground then people start caring , SAD VERY SAD!!!!!!!
You do know about RVSM right?
Doesn't sound like it
I have pictures of the underside of a bridge that has cracked and crumbling concrete due to a lack of maintenance (I40 in TN-Harriman exit). I called to report the horrific condition of this bridge to TDOT about a month ago. It has not been touched. Thousands of cars and tractor trailers will full payloads travel across this bridge every day. No one cares until it comes crashing down and lives are lost. They'll claim the bridge has been maintained. We pay plenty of tax in TN, but still there is no excuse for this. People need to do their damn jobs!
D.E.I. Thanks democrats
Did you watch the whole video? The pilots were White guys. Nice try.
Why I only fly Delta haven’t had any issues even when I flew this past week Thursday and Monday morning
People complaining about a plane flying too low close to an airport is silly. How else would it land. And there are always roads and highways nearby
No doubt Pilots and co-pilots are hire on a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion priority basis, with skill and experience a secondary consideration.
I used to stand up on the roof top parking watching planes come in!!
With pilots like this, you may want to discontinue that practice. Unless you want them to hit you as they buzz the garage. LOL
@@davidgagnon2849 BAHAHAHA 🤣
@@davidgagnon2849 I know right? 😂
Is this a southwest problem or should we be worried about other airlines???😮
True, delta has a lot of issues as well.
