Happy New Year to you too, Keep the videos coming, I always keep an eye out for your vids to know when they have updated the app or firmware. I have the Touptek Astrostation as well, they seem to be doing a lot of regular updates which is great. Hoping they update the drivers for SvBony colour cameras soon.
Thank you very much for sticking with my videos and the season greetings. 🙏 I will do my best to serve you and the other viewers with the most up to date information on the Astrostation. I know about on big channel that is going to release a video soon about it. I am watching his videos too and I was able to help him getting the Astrostation up to date for his review. I hope once the more known channels are going to release their reviews that some of the audience will still stay with my channel for updates and other astrophotography topics. I know the early wave with the Astrostation will be over soon that I get into competition with the large channels on this topic. Happy New Year!
Hey, thanks for the video. I have a couple of question related to the astrostation. 1. Does it have filter offset? 2. Does it optimise the plan automatically considering dither? Like, let's say you capture SHO and does it take 5S, 5H, 5O then dither or is it sequential?
Thank you for your comment. glad that you liked the video! Filter offsets are not in (yet). Dithering is set in the general settings. Dithering does not wait for the sequence to run through. It happens afer 1, 2, 3, 5, 10 exposures like you have set it up in the Guide Camera settings. This setting does not care about the task in the sequence. So it behaves the same like AsiAir in terms of dithering.
@@astrofromhome thanks for the reply. It's sad to hear it doesn't optimise the sqeuance. I'm trying to find a replacement for Asiair just because of this. My setup is portable, so, every minute matter :)
In case you would like to have 5S, 5H, 5O, dither and then run the same 15 exposures you can just set dither to every 15 exposures. Your tasks would be 5 subs per each of the three filters. The dither frequency you can set to every value that you like. To stay in this all filters prior tom dither you just need to stick with the total number of exposures for all filters prior to the dither. so if your initial set to run through all filters priotr to dither is 15 you should stick to the 15 subs as dither frequency would be set by you to 'every 15 frames'. You can just not say that after tasks for S, H and O have been caputered then dither. So you need to know how many exposured are taken with all filters in your sequence prior to your desired dither. If running through all filters is 20 subs, set dither to 20, is it 50 subs set dither to 50. Also in sequencers like NINA you need to calculate the dither frequency youself. Optimizing the sequence by dither frequency costs you time for filter changes and auto focus, respectivly moving the focuser in case offsets are available. so staying with the same count of subs and set dither frequency accordingly should be the most efficient approach.
@@astrofromhome yes and this could have been done by the application itself automatically if the dither is set in the plan before. This is what i meant.
@ulotrix06 But how should the app know what is one cycle for you to do the dither activity? Everybody has a different need when to dither. Then one person may want a dither after SHO or just HO another one after RGB, one person after LRGB. Someone after LRGBSHO. How shall the app know which person you are? On top the state of the software is still beta. The device is not released yet. There is still plenty of time after release for enhancements. But enhancements must make sense and the app needs to know how to act properly.

CS Sven
