I’m learning German and I have felt moments of hopelessness and defeat but anyone can learn a language. Everyone learned their native language and that took hours of listening and mimicking our parents as babies and kids so it isn’t impossible; you just have to immerse yourself as much as you can in your target language. Also learning is a big part of the fun of learning a language, when I recognise even one word or understand a single sentence I get excited and it feels so worth it 👍🏻

Honestly seeing those language learners who learn so “ fast “ on RUclips doesn’t demotivate me. It motivates me to be consistent because I look more at their dedication and consistency than whatever level they claim to be at. :)

Your the only channel I've stumbled upon that talks about these topics in a concise manner. Every other channel I saw would make the same video but somehow make it 20+ minutes long.
    Much appreciated sir

I'm tired of RUclips polyglots who claim to speak Spanish fluently saying it was so easy, when they just throw a few of typical phrases about how they learned it, with bad pronunciation and awful grammar

The time usually required to learn a language is usually defined by the linguistic distance between languages. Are there language learnable in less than a month? Personally I reached conversational fluency in Spanish and Portuguese in less than a month each, but like, I'm a native Italian speaker, and I still spent many hours a day immersing. If one is claiming to be able to learn high level Mandarin or Arabic in 6 month that is just downright impossible as a native speaker of a European language. I've been learning German for 3-4 months and even that is being quite hard despite I'm really satisfied with my progress and I'm immersing a lot.

Yes it does depend on the linguistic difference between languages but like I mentioned in the video, learning that fast is probably very hard and not worth doing for most people depending on your circumstances, but not impossible. But you are right, as long as you are satisfied with your progress thats all that matters.

Its not impossible. Your love for a language and your passion can make learning a language like Mandarin way easier. For me, I find Mandarin much easier than French and my native language is French. I find Mandarin easy to study and to remember because everything about the language to me is beautiful :)

      My native language is English*.

In the end, if you’re not really interested, it will just end up being harder to learn both internally and externally because you are battling against yourself and even memorization of grammar and vocabulary will be harder.

now this isn't a great way to fluency, but just a "polyglot trick" kinda
just memorize the language phrases of each language read/spoken.
the formula of call+response (hello, how are you) to vocabulary practice,
can kind of speed the process up as a gateway opener to becoming it.
(not recommended to people becoming fluent, that takes in-depth study.)

    有道理。如果你真心想好好学一门语言的话,你只要在大陆或者台湾找个工作网中找个工作(51job网挺有用)就行,一旦你有那个工作的时候才可以去那个工作~ 然后你跟本地人天天沟通~

      我认同,如果能融入沉浸式的环境,天天接触到语言,天天努力练习,一定会学得很快,甚至会突飞猛进。
