A piece of the original Incredible Hulk coaster in Islands of Adventure is displayed over the Entrance to the ride since they redid the ride with new track as if Hulk himself broke it which I thought was cool. Yes the ride is technically the same as they didn't make any modifications to the track layout but they did completely remove the old track and replace it with an exact copy of new beams/rails etc. I thought it was cool they incorporated some of the old track as part of the entrance to the ride. I was surprised it wasn't mentioned.
You misunderstood why he said it. At an amusement park, many things change and it’s amazing that that had not been removed or done away with. It’s not a reference to how long things last.
What sets Alton Towers apart from many other Theme Parks you find across the world, is the fact that every single themed area and roller coaster has a storyline and lore behind it, making the entire park and epic story as you progress through it. What makes it even better is the fact that the majority of these stories are horror themed.

1. Ahh, "Hurt-your-knees" . . . that term done make me giggle (top 10 Roller Coaster nicknames?) 2. B&R: The Chiller; given how LIM is better understood now; could it work if something similar were to be built now? 3. Regarding Rolling Thunder; I'm surprised that it didn't get the Iron Horse treatment. edit: As far as Phantom's Revenge goes, the track in the station and the lift hill is Arrow track (Steel Phantom) and the rest of the ride is DH Morgan track. Also, the station and queue line for B&R: The Chiller was used for a Fright Fest maze one year. As for roller coaster nicknames, the ones I can think of off the top of my head are: Spinebuster (Mighty Canadian Minebuster at Canada's Wonderland); Hang & Bangs (any Vekoma SLC); Anacon-DON'T (Anaconda at King's Dominion).
Bench: the ride at Europa park The curry coaster: (montazooma revenge): knott's A.pack.of.lips (apocalypse) drayton manor And don't forget melenium forceless at cedar point
Along with the Steel Phantom track at Kennywood, there are also pieces of supports from the Log Jammer Supports, which was removed to make room for Steel Curtain.
As a Pittsburgh native I will say that Steel Phantom was a very rough ride. That first drop shot your whole body straight to the left. Approaching the the second drop was all Air time till you hit the bottom of the hill. She was a a head banger for sure. Phantoms Revenge is a much better and enjoyable ride.
I rode that several times in its opening year. Putting all the loops right in a row at the end was just too much. Since I was tall I was able to lean my head forward but my sister was shorter and would get her head bopped back and forth. We then understood why all the signs saying to remove any earrings before riding.
You won’t find the footers or the station now cedar point demolished the station. Not sure if the footers are still visible the ground has grass growing down in the valley now
The only thing that would make this channel better would be the option for captions on your videos for some of us that are a little hard of hearing. Love watching!
As a Pennsylvanian living an hour's drive from Dorney Park, Hercules was INDEED very rough to ride. Hydra, the "replacement coaster," is one of my favorites, though.
It’s one of the reasons I love coasters to this day. I’m proud to have been on its last ever public train and the monument stands as a wonderful marker of what made Alton Towers the park I visited just today
champagnecoloredeyes I see what’s left of Rolling Thunder nearly every day at work. Whenever I’m at El Toro, I still see what’s left of the white structure
Mystic Timbers Fanboy don’t know. But it was replaced by El Diablo...which is also now gone this season. They’re putting in a single rail coaster, that’s all I know about it
I used to go to Dorney Park all the time as a kid and even had season passes for a few years in the early 2000’s. The rough and sort of rickety feeling of the ride was part of the fun for me personally. It gave Hercules its “character.” Thanks for the video, it brought up a some fond memories.
There are still concrete blocks around the boomerang from the Zambezi zinger. Also back in the distance while riding the train you can still in that area where there used to be raft ride back in early 90's. You have to know exactly where to look bc its all over grown now
Kennywood until recently was a family owned park. Why they were more creative than the major parks in their design as they tended to reuse parts if possible to cut cost. Kennywood a few years ago was purchased by a smaller promotions company named Parques Reunidos in 2007.
I love seeing the Alton Towers corkscrew on the way in. definitely the best use of old tracks specially after seeing the rest of the video, I was expecting more like it
Corkscrew became a violent and rough ride as well while bigger and better attractions being added to Alton Towers which decreased the rides popularity which pretty much made it kinda obsolete among other coasters. However it is still remembered fondly as it helped make Alton Towers what it is today.
Tbh in any theme park they have to keep up with the times. Older rides will eventually loose interest. When the flume was taken down i was devastated! But now wicker man is in its place im like meh i guess its alright lol
Fond memories of Hercules at Dorney Park. Yes, it was rough but the initial trip out of the station and then sweeping out over the lake was stunning. Labor Day Weekend in '94 I rode this with my wife and daughter until there was no longer any point. I was very surprised to learn that it'd been removed.
I remember riding the corkscrew at Alton Towers, it was amazing. The first time I rode it was during the parks firework display. That day was amazing! Also the Black Hole was still in operation back then
if you ever have nostalgia for it there is a Vekoma Corkscrew at Cedar point its a slightly diferent coster but hey its still a good ride even if its a bit rough
You can still see Drachen Fire's que line and station if you ride the Train at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, kinda cool to see the old design still. Excited for the new coaster here next year!
I remember going to cedar point and there was this one roller coaster that still had some leftover tracks in plain sight right beside the roller coaster! Very weird!
I love Buzzsaw Falls, though I agree with number 1. Corkscrew was such an iconic and classic UK coaster (my first actual inversion - age 7-sh) and the way its presented at the entrance is a fantastic tribute!
At Kennywood, Phantom's Revenge sits on some of Steel Phantom's supports & track, which sits on some of Laser Loop's footers, with the original station from the Laser Loop coaster that was removed.
I don't think he counted parts that were reused for other rides; otherwise, Viper's station being reused for El Toro would probably have also been mentioned.
I remember riding the Corkscrew back in 1990 when we went to Alton Towers on a school trip. The queue time was around 90 minutes back then but was well worth the wait. Another ride which I rode & has also now been removed was Thunder Looper. I remember it really cranking my neck on the return backwards loop but was still nevertheless such a thrill to ride back then.
I took my son to Silver Dollar City when he was six years old. I was so excited for him to ride Buzzsaw Falls because I thought he'd be surprised when the water ride turned into a roller coaster. My wife and I had rode it in years past. I couldn't remember the name at the time. I just remembered the location in the park; so, Powder Keg meant nothing to me. We were both very surprised when we discovered there was no more water and were accelerated down the track at an excessive starting speed! It was his first roller coaster experience. I felt so bad. I didn't want to scare him from riding coasters. I'm glad to finally learn the story behind why it was tore down. It's a fun memory we have of Silver Dollar City and my son actually enjoys coasters to this day despite his initial shock.
When you’re riding diesel drivers at kennywood, not only do you see old Steel Phantom track, but pieces from Log Jammer, their former flume ride, are there too.

My friend threw up 3 times on the way back to the car that night hahahah GASM was also my first looping roller coaster; my mom had me take my socks off and stuff them in my shoes to give me that extra inch I needed hahaha!!!
I just causally clicked on this video because it was being recommended, and i was surprised that my home park that we always go to was on here! So cool to see it be mentioned on here!
And learned some history of it that i didn’t know!
I rode Hercules and my neck still hurts.
Hurt-your-neck
I rode Hercules hundreds of times and was never once was injured, beyond a headache and that was when I rode it 50+ times in a row for a commercial.
hurt your knees
@@cobalt._.27 Hercules
HURTYOURKNEES
I’ll never forget how painful Corkscrew was to ride.
JMD85 85 i only rode the corkscrew at Flamingo Land (North Yorkshire) and that thing smashed my head around, so uncomfortable but didn’t stop me riding it every time I went 😂 they look like the same rollercoaster model
I've seen that ride at Alton towers in person, it's literally at the entrance, u can't miss it, I never knew the history behind this, cool.
I remember going on the Alton towers corkscrew a year or two before it’s demolition, the ride was so rough smashing your head from side to side against the solid ‘foam’ seats you had a massive headache afterwards, it really hurt... not surprised it was torn down, still fun though 😀
1. Ahh, "Hurt-your-knees" . . . that term done make me giggle (top 10 Roller Coaster nicknames?)
Bench: the ride at Europa park
The curry coaster: (montazooma revenge): knott's
A.pack.of.lips (apocalypse) drayton manor
And don't forget melenium forceless at cedar point
RMC did not do their magic on Rolling Thunder cause they were a young company at the time and they did not have the experience they have now.
Along with the Steel Phantom track at Kennywood, there are also pieces of supports from the Log Jammer Supports, which was removed to make room for Steel Curtain.

I'm glad Kennywood made it on this list 💞
As a Pittsburgh native I will say that Steel Phantom was a very rough ride. That first drop shot your whole body straight to the left. Approaching the the second drop was all Air time till you hit the bottom of the hill. She was a a head banger for sure. Phantoms Revenge is a much better and enjoyable ride.
I rode that several times in its opening year. Putting all the loops right in a row at the end was just too much. Since I was tall I was able to lean my head forward but my sister was shorter and would get her head bopped back and forth. We then understood why all the signs saying to remove any earrings before riding.
Was it better than vortex at kings island
Steel Phantom was the fastest coaster in its day! I loved it and so many memories, especially the fact that there were 0 lights on it at night.
@@alexsmith6914 I guess that made it scary
Now the vortex at Ohio's Kings Island is being removed soon.
So sad. 😞
My fave
My first looping coaster
You won’t find the footers or the station now cedar point demolished the station. Not sure if the footers are still visible the ground has grass growing down in the valley now
Watched the full video. You just got yourself a subscriber!
THANK YOU!
Great Video, didn't realise so many parks kept bits of their old rides!
The only thing that would make this channel better would be the option for captions on your videos for some of us that are a little hard of hearing. Love watching!
I will look into that. Thank you for your suggestion 🙂
Agreed!
There is a CC on RUclips. If on your "Smartphone" it's there you have to turn it on, find the gear, settings, captions, turn on.
As a Pennsylvanian living an hour's drive from Dorney Park, Hercules was INDEED very rough to ride. Hydra, the "replacement coaster," is one of my favorites, though.
I’ve seen the corkscrew
It looks absolutely amazing and is surprisingly big
Ride Facts agreed.
Ride Facts my uncle went on it as a kid and he loved it.
Kyran Haffenden
He was lucky!
It’s one of the reasons I love coasters to this day. I’m proud to have been on its last ever public train and the monument stands as a wonderful marker of what made Alton Towers the park I visited just today
Mike Buttim so jealous
And now vortex is closed
No vortex is open
Edit: which vortex are you talking about
@@TheGamingG810the one at KINGS ISLAND-
@@CosmicDigimonFan the vortex which is open is at canada's wonderland
@@TheGamingG810 no, the vortex at king island (the one in this video) is the one the person was talking about.
@@CosmicDigimonFan ok
It's amazing how the rollercoaster started out and how far it has come.
I've been watching coaster videos since two days, your vids are nicely made man!
Rolling Thunder in Jackson NJ was my very first roller coaster ride! Ahh nostalgia
champagnecoloredeyes I see what’s left of Rolling Thunder nearly every day at work. Whenever I’m at El Toro, I still see what’s left of the white structure
Andrew Zenobia ahh that’s so cool!!
Why was it removed
Mystic Timbers Fanboy don’t know. But it was replaced by El Diablo...which is also now gone this season. They’re putting in a single rail coaster, that’s all I know about it
@@andrewzenobia2396 They waste so much money building coasters just to tare them down.
I used to go to Dorney Park all the time as a kid and even had season passes for a few years in the early 2000’s. The rough and sort of rickety feeling of the ride was part of the fun for me personally. It gave Hercules its “character.” Thanks for the video, it brought up a some fond memories.
In Worlds of Fun at Kansas City, you can still see the Orient Express loading house from the Spinning Dragons waiting line path.
There are still concrete blocks around the boomerang from the Zambezi zinger. Also back in the distance while riding the train you can still in that area where there used to be raft ride back in early 90's. You have to know exactly where to look bc its all over grown now
Dang, now I am all nostalgic for those old rides. Zambezi Zinger was fun.
idk why but i love watching these roller coasters ride videos lmao
Can you please do a top 10 rollercoaster replacements?
Dorito Dude 360 Phantom's revenge would most definitely be number 1.
It would be 100% rmcs
Yes
Would conversions count?
@@nathanfleming1226 Sure, as long as the changes are substantial enough.
Kennywood until recently was a family owned park. Why they were more creative than the major parks in their design as they tended to reuse parts if possible to cut cost. Kennywood a few years ago was purchased by a smaller promotions company named Parques Reunidos in 2007.
I love seeing the Alton Towers corkscrew on the way in. definitely the best use of old tracks specially after seeing the rest of the video, I was expecting more like it
Why was it removed
Watched this because of the preview of the Corkscrew, did not expect it to be at number, nice one!
It’s weird because I was at Alton towers yesterday hahah also I love your channel
Well I am at alton towers right now it is sooo
Good
Why was the corkscrew removed
Bruh this video , only got me thinking that one day ima die and be forgotten
One day we will be nothing but a picture on a wall and soon to be lost in time
Wow can’t believe they made a movie about this comment wow!
There is ALSO a remnant of Viper at great adventure- it got turned into el toros queue line!
@@Bobis32 kinda live in the UK, would be difficult haha
Love that you included kennywood!!!
As someone from Houston can you do a top 10 defunct amusement parks?
I love it when they intentionally or even unintentionally leave something behind as a tribute.
I've ridden 7 of these .... not sure how I feel about riding all the coasters that don't exist anymore :D
I have fond childhood memories of the Corkscrew at Alton Towers. I am glad that they preserved part of that ride.
I was so happy when I was kennywood I go there like every day
You can still see Drachen Fire's que line and station if you ride the Train at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, kinda cool to see the old design still.
Great video! So many good memories. Thanks for putting it together! :)
Bit upset that The Big Bad Wolf wasn't on here but otherwise really good video!
Right
It's was what do you mean
I don't think he counted parts that were reused for other rides; otherwise, Viper's station being reused for El Toro would probably have also been mentioned.
Is their any remnants of the Wolf? (Besides the station).
@@tigerrocks503chase8 yes the supports on the 2nd next to the river were big bad wolf used to be
I remember riding the Corkscrew back in 1990 when we went to Alton Towers on a school trip. The queue time was around 90 minutes back then but was well worth the wait. Another ride which I rode & has also now been removed was Thunder Looper. I remember it really cranking my neck on the return backwards loop but was still nevertheless such a thrill to ride back then.
Crazy how parks change overtime. Like kings island son of beast to banshee and queue line for banshee used to be on a go cart track it looks like.
Rolling Thunder was a great coaster. The best, best, best when wet after rain. Never tired of that one.
600joe Rolling Thunder was my first rollercoaster ride ♥️
Please do another one of these... I love these types of remnants left behind
I love this list! Amazing!
When you’re riding diesel drivers at kennywood, not only do you see old Steel Phantom track, but pieces from Log Jammer, their former flume ride, are there too.
Creative idea for a coaster video....
Thanks!
