Imagine taking your kids to see a whimsical movie about magic, and the twist is that the cute kid dies at the end, and everyone is depressed. The commercials for this movie hoodwinked a generation lol.
@@TheKillaShow 💀 so? Like it’s not one or the other kids can still learn from this movie and it’s not depressing at all like how do you live normal life? Everyone is way to sensitive this is a great book and movie I wish we got more like it
This movie introduced me to death, but also to the death of a loved one. I really felt like I had fallen in love with the girl as a little kid and her death left a hole in my heart.
Its hard to get the same feeling when your an adult and understand life and death better. By the time we're adults most people have accepted the fact that they will die and that their loved ones will also die someday and life will go on. But when when your a kid realizing death can come at anytime for any of your most cherished people is traumatizing. I remember thinking alot after this movie about what of one of my friends suddenly died and left forever.
Despite seeing it when I was like 9 years old, this movie really ingrained itself into my mind with how traumatic that death is. I watching it again today and I'm not ashamed to say I shed a tear 😔
The worst part is it’s based on a true story. The author’s child had a friend who was randomly struck by lightning and died. That’s what happened in the original book, but the editors thought it was too unrealistic so she changed it.
It didnt traumatize me too much when i read the book and heard leslie died, it only saddened me and then i saw the movie and again, i was judt sad and at last, 6 years after reading the book i found out it wad a true story
@@Hallotthes the author had a son and the sons friend had died by a thunder strike or something and they were gonna put it in the book but it was called too unrealistic
Whoever was in charge of MWR (moral welfare & recreation) at Camp Warhorse (Baqouba, Iraq) in 2007 should be fired. They showed THIS MOVIE to already traumatized soldiers during an active military conflict. What the heck were they thinking?
When i was a kid before watching when this movie came out it was the only thing anyone actually knew about the movie so no not really there is still a lot of other stuff going on in the movie
Dunno why I clicked on the video and decided to read the comments where everyone is saying that they completely forgot about this movie which I thought was weird. I decide to look up the "traumatizing scene" everyone is talking about and it all comes back. We read this book and watched the movie in class in like 5th or 6th grade. I completely forgot about it just like everyone else. That's crazy.
If that is the look of a traumatized person, then I‘d like some too. It’s so annoying seeing people misuse these terms. Girl you don’t even have the slightest imagination what a real trauma is.
Ms Edmonds is the true villain in this story, she’s so suspicious the entire movie and subtly has a crush on Jess, her own student(creepy). To get him to herself, the most logical thing she could do is to separate him from Leslie, whom the teacher knows is in close contact with Jess in her class, and indirectly kill her
Man, if someone can be "traumatized" by a fictional movie Id hate to see what would happen if you daw people have their legs blown off before dragging themselves desperately trying to get to safety so they don't die. It's absurd how people live within such a comfortable and secure bubble, completely oblivious to the horror all around them, that "traumatizing" is a word they'd dare to use over a sad piece of fiction. It's sad, it's emotionally moving, but ffs, it's not traumatizing.
People, please stop using the word trauma and traumatized so arbitrarily. Coming from someone with ptsd, please consider the effect this has. It diminishes the meaning of the word and its not taken as seriously. The effects of trauma can hijack your life in every way you could imagine and it's hell.
Ffs modern girls have literally ruined and removed all meaning from the word traumatised. "Omg I'm traumatised"... like it sets in as quick as a bee sting

😂😂😂😂HOODWINKED IS THE PERFECT WORD!!! My mom is STILL traumatized. I am STILL traumatized.

Wow!! I felt exactly same way.
“My girl” reminds me a lot of this movie as well
Except it’s the other way around
right?? I was thinking of that as well. That movie trained me to not cry.
"Ok, I'm traumatized." - the most British thing I heard today
Her reaction says nothing about being traumatised, she’s playing for the camera

The book is great, too!
