One of the lyrics goes, “Tell me I’m that new thing, tell me that I’m relevant.” Can you talk to me a little bit about that song? Rosé: "That song was written after a terrible night of scrolling through the internet till like 6 a.m., and I barely got any sleep. I walked up to the studio the next day very cranky, and they asked me, “How have you been?” And I was like: “Very bad. I’m so exhausted. I’m exhausted trying to please everyone.” I’m always just trying my best to be my best version, but I felt a little lost and like I was never good enough. I was a bit cranky against the world. And I wanted to write a song that’s just so, like, disgustingly open and honest. She said in an interview, that she was up until 5am one night and when she came into the studio they asked how she was and she said not well, she was up all night looking at on social media and she was seeing all of the negative things people were saying. They basically used that emotion in the studio to write this song. That was how she was able to let that negative energy go and move on. She said Song writing has been very therapeutic for her.
