"We're not leaving you, buddy, we're marines! You are our mission!" I love that line. I can only imagine the actual feeling survivors had when they were found and rescued.
Right i literally come back just to watch this part. I couldn’t imagine going thru something like that. Could only hope to be that brave to survive something like that and to be the rescuers much respect go toward the men and women that day
The same marines who went on to rain down death and destruction on Iraq. Murderous pawns of American imperialism.

It sears my heart to think that somewhere in that rubble, the same situation played out, except they were never found... not everyone was instantly killed in the collapse

There’s a short video where a lady radioing for help stuck in a fire engine I think..not sure if she was a policewoman or what. Then it went went dead, don’t think she got out.
As thrilled as he was, In a podcast Jimeno discussed that when the Marines announced who they were he freaked out a little bit because he thought they were at war. He still had no idea what was going on and he could only assume the worst since the Marines found him.

This is one of the most powerful movie moments I’ve ever seen and the acting isn’t even like incredibly good, it’s just such a happy moment

I know Karnes and served with him in Iraq 2004/2005. The most reserved and unassuming man I've ever met in the Marine Corps. I didn't even know this story about him until someone told me after I left our unit, despite having sat and talked with him several times. It is genuinely an honor, brother.
What a gripping story. Against all odds. And how ‘bout those Marines?
I still haven’t been able to watch this movie all the way through. I have asthma and I had a really bad attack several months ago to where I was almost hospitalized made me sympathize with them. The thought of them being in the suffering dark and they made it when so many didn’t….

One of the saddest movies I’ve ever seen it’s such an incredible heartbreaking story. It is amazing that these men survived two skyscrapers falling down on them

This was a massive tragedy and I remember watching it from the news as a teenager and really siding with America against the terrorism! But not that rumors are that it could have been all arranged by themselves it's hard to believe the news & politicians again!

Yes. They are both still alive, and Will just wrote a book.
Yep. John was the next to last person pulled from the rubble. The last person was a woman, pulled out approx 12:30pm on September 12.

These guys were just lucky that there were Marines searching day and night? Where tf was everyone else when you know there could still be survivors? Search dogs? Good lord you can't just assume there's no one alive under the rubble.
There was lots of people searching those areas 24 hours a day. I remember these events like yesterday. I was 25 years old when the towers fell. There was searching for months after. ❤❤❤
There were search dogs in real life. There’s stories of the rescue workers needing to hide themselves among the rubble to let the dogs “find” them because the dogs were starting to get depressed that they weren’t finding anyone still alive.

for anyone watching and loving the marine being a great guy and all i just want you all to know the real marine was black
There were two ex-marines there that day. One of them was black, one was white.
David Kernes, represented by the actor yelling that he sees Will, and Jason Thomas, who was the other ex-marine with him.
Both men were already separated from the service by the time 9/11 happened.
Kernes ended up reenlisting into the corps and served a deployment in Iraq.

I feel sad that so many lives were sacrificed in that "attack," just to control the oil wells in Iraq and Afghanistan.
