I have 2 of these and done good mileage on both over all sorts of terrain ; including off road and tarmac and everything inbetween ! They are good value for money and very happy . Yes; def; there is huge room for improvement and a few gripes about it - the rattling mudguards drive me nuts and a few other small problems since owning them. However; with good range; the ability to do high speed if need be ( regularly pushed it just for fun and hit over 30 - 32 mph !! ) and comfortable etc. My experience based on good ownership of many bikes over the years is that Engwe have a great overall bike here and I'm a relatively satisfied customer ! Bang for buck ; these are great here in the UK, Kent.
The regen works well on (the many) long downhills around me... just flick it down to setting 1 and it comes in straight away. It also activates in all power levels if going over the user-set speed limit downhill (i.e. not pedaling) and by observation recharges at up to 580W. The cells are Samsung according to the latest info on their site. A lot of the rear fender noise can be solved by adding washers between the mounts near the wheel bolts and the frame to stand if off just 1mm, which stops the mounting arms rattling against the frame. The rear suspension pivot is also too close on the left of the bike (looking forward) which can be solved by changing the 82mm axle bolts to 86mm and adding a washer on that side (both there and on the shock).
It's generally safer and more controlled to ride standing up in sketchy situations. You have more ability to let the bike move underneath you without throwing your own mass around. Unless there is some characteristic of these smaller wheeled bikes that I'm unaware of. It's probably something you just need to spend more time getting comfortable with. Excellent review by the way! Really appreciate your well balanced attention to detail and safety ;) Cheers!
YESSSSS.... Finally an e-bike that is actually worth it's Price...!!!! Thanks again for a great video.... it's amazing how far your channel has gone... E-bike companies are actually listening to the consumer...!!!!
Thanks for the great review - finally one on this bike that is honest, and I agree this bike is worth critiquing but you said it well that there aren't any deal-breakers. I've been looking into folding e-bikes as my main mode of transportation and this is the most thorough review I've seen on this particular bike. I've been exhausted riding my 10 year old Specialized hybrid up the last half mile, 10-12% grade road to where I'm living. I recently moved there from NYC and don't have a car so I'm looking for a daily driver that is practical and functional. This seems to check every box off the list of what I'm looking for, which for me these requirements are - a 750w max power motor (for those legal purposes which I still don't fully know the laws) with relatively quick throttle acceleration and power when riding on roads in traffic (not many practical bike paths where I live), fenders are absolutely required if you're zipping to and from work, appointments or running errands without being covered in gunk, a rack for whatever you need it for, hydraulic disc breaks for safety when riding on roads, and full front and back suspension for comfort making it a more functional choice when going about, also the functional display. I don't know much about Engwe, but comparing the many bikes that are similar it seems they are an actual company and not some of the amazon nock-off brands that replicate this common design for an ebike. Others on amazon seem to cut costs by removing fenders and rear racks, suspension, battery capacity, etc. and some are hard to find any information about the generic companies. This seems to hit a sweet spot. I think I would add one of those break lights on amazon that has turn signals for safety on the streets with a built in motion alarm as well as upgrade the front headlight - I wonder if it's possible to do both integrating into the bike's circuits. I would also probably upgrade the saddle, but I would do this on any bike. It looks like yours has stitching and ventilation which isn't the same as the saddle shown on their website - I wonder if the images are of the prior, not "upgraded" version with the smaller battery and possibly different saddle. I would consider the upgraded 750w Engwe EP-2 Pro, but the tradeoff for the several hundred dollar cost savings would be the rear suspension, (hydraulic or not at least the Engine Pro has suspension), larger battery capacity and that extremely functional display. The display is also indicative of a more intelligent control of each of the components and I think it's worth it for those features. It's pretty neat to brag about your bike having regenerative breaking even if it doesn't function as you may set it up if you were the one developing the control sequencing of it but (wishful thinking here) perhaps they can update the firmware in the future to make it more functional without having to purchase a new bike - the physical components are there, the bike just needs to be more intelligent on how to control them. At Engwe's website, for a few extra bucks they have an option to add an additional full capacity battery, which is the last cherry on top selling point for me. It's quite a bit less than adding an extra $400 battery from them. Unfortunately, it looks like your discount code doesn't apply for the Engine Pro "Battery Pack" option on Engwe's website. Any possibility of making that work? Having an extra battery makes the bike that much more functional and practical on a longer ride and not worrying about running out of capacity - even with the additional backup plan of being able to peddle your way around town and back home. It's not an exercise bike, it's a practical vehicle. And in addition to the extra capacity to go on a longer ride, the battery will inevitably go through battery wear over time. Well, I wasn't expecting to write this much but thanks for coming to my TED talk. I've really been comparing as many of these bikes in this price range that I can, hoping to spend about $1k but willing to spend a little more if there are features that I can't live without. I don't want to spend more than $1500 or $1600 though. That price range would put the bike in an entirely different category. Your review convinced me and it's looking more and more like I'll go with the Engine Pro upgraded version with the extra battery (again, can your code work on that package also?) Thanks again for the great review.
When our man leaves a comment, he LEAVES A COMMENT! lol thanks :) as for the code working with the batteries, you might get lucky sending them an email and asking. The sales rep I was in contact with seemed like a chill guy. Goes a bit beyond my powers.

Glad you discovered ebikes. I have 4. & 6 MB's
10:26 something that I REALLY want in an Ebike of this type, have multiple front gears for a 14/21/28 speed setup. The hardest part of riding a bike is getting started, since when you're moving you have momentum. However, on most of these you can go 25+mph on full throttle, but your pedal tops out at only 18-20 MPH. There needs to be another gear for top speed. I want to contribute throughout the powerband.
having just done 25miles this morning with 15% left on battery at the end of my trip from 100% battery. totally agree about the seat ,first thing i changed out to a bikeroo cruiser seat. made some difference ,but i think a suspension seat post would be an advantage ,in the future . overall i am happy with my ENGINE PRO.
Honestly I’ve lately seen a lot of guys cruising around on those foldable e bikes. I can understand that they work every time but I just love tinkering with a 2 stroke motor and I hope these ebikes don’t phase out motorized bikes.
I'm hopeful that the e-bikes becoming more popular will help the gas bikes blend in. At least for us builders who don't run loud pipes without a silencer. Too many builders running the loudest thing they can and wondering why they get so much hate.
@@znail4675 Bicycles converted to 2 stroke gas engines are very light weight. My People S200 weighs as much as electric Scooters yet can go 500mi/800km in a day! That bike looks really ideal for riding to work for you! I love my motorized 2 stroke for fun . But that ebike looks more comfortable n quiet. So cool!🙂👍👍
Excellent review! Thanks for testing the lights, others miss out in that! - As for the battery quality (you talk about it briefly at around 22:18 ff): on the EU site they mention at least this: "- 48.V 16Ah Lithium Ions Removalble Battery **new better cells**"
14:10 Incidentally when I built the electric/2 stroke hybrid, I had to move the e-throttle over to the left side. It was certainly an adjustment, but you get used to it. Considering you've got to wrap your head around two wheel drive with independent throttles and incredibly different drive dynamics, if you can figure all that out, a throttle on the left isn't too bad. Likewise, I could have fit it on the right, next to the twist throttle for the 2 stroke, but having to twist your wrist while managing a thumb throttle with the same hand seemed like too much hard work. As always, I've gotta beg you to build a front hub hybrid one day!
Just built my 4 stroke and it’s. Torque monster 👹 only goes about 21 mph currently but will climb anything and never have to pedal. Maybe I’ll look into a E bike someday
I got the same bike. Not bad but I also have a Speedrid much like it. Cheaper, less features but a way better bike for all around riding. Itis a more simple and rugged bike that I have put over 1000 miles on without problem. The ENGWE broke down the first 50 miles. Took over 3 month to get a part. Do not use re gen braking! It can kill the monitor which kills the bike! From experience….
@@darkmanx2g Yes. I bought mine. Received it. Rode it less than 5 miles. Went down a hill. Put it into pedal assist 3 for re gen. It started to slow the bike. Than nothing! how do the assist levels work? on previous Engwe bikes they were simpy speed limits up until which the motor works (like PAS 1 = 8 miles, PAS 2= 12 miles etc).. so they were not really assistance levels but more like speed levels. is it different now?
Nobody talks about its defects. I have 2 ENGWE Engine Pro 750W Ebikes, one is already damaged after only a month of use, getting them to send you the parts for repair is a real headache and then you have to repair it.
@@LAHover Hi, the bicycle stopped working, it died in the middle of the trip, the battery is full, I contacted them but the parts take time because they come from China and I have to repair it myself
How bad does the rear suspension work when peddaling. I have high end mountain bikes and can't stand when people ride with us that claim "full suspension", then we see them seesaw while the rear suspension takes away all forward effort, from being weak! Does rear look out?
2:36 I see the 20x 4 fat tires as a big BIG negative now. They are just as prone to flats and blowouts as regular tires, but no one carries them locally, so you either have to wait, or buy dodgy tires online. I wish ebikes would be made with 26 x 1.75 tires. I don't need to go offroad. I doubt most people do, and if they do, it's on a much more specialized bike, not a folding bike. All of the "features" you list here are pretty standard. With my Lectric xp 2.0, I have all those, though your about 1/3rd bigger battery, so the extra 500 bucks is put to that. I think all of these folding ebikes are coming out of the same factory, or group of factories in Southern China. They all seem samey.
I also dislike the metal fenders on this (and my own) ebike. IF you have a catastrophic blowout, it can (and did on my machine) bend the fender in half on itself, damaging other parts of the bike.
Aye man I really need your help with my bike I bought a new 80cc kit and I put everything together and it won’t start I checked the spark and everything I still can’t figure out what’s wrong with it I checked the clutch too and it’s not slipping at all but if u can help me with it I would really appreciate it bro love the content and keep up the good work
Initial response: Got this bike for my friend. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ Delivery was fast. And the friend was surprised I would order it when she had never suggested she wanted anything but the pedal bike she had. She has now ridden the bike two times and gives it a 10 and says it is very fun. We have some hills in our town that are very challenging to climb on a typical bike. But tonight she went up with the pedal assist and loved it. I was way behind on my standard bike, huffing and puffing. Now she is no longer lagging behind me. This thing is powerful enough that a person could go around town without any pedaling. She likes to get some exercise so on flat ground she hits the red button to turn off pedal assist and only uses the twist throttle when she's in a tough spot. The bike looks good. It is really a very nice bike for the friend. Now for me, when I get an electric bike, I'm twice her size and will be looking for a bigger watt motor and battery. But this one is just wonderful for my friend. I am happy with this purchase.
I am planning to buy a ENGWE for me, but I am seeing a lot of bad reviews on internet, talking about their customer support that isn't good, do you ever talked to the support? How it was?
Brother you are going to need a showroom or very large garage or lean to at bare minimum just to house and protect all your different bikes gas n electric if you get any more lol
How about pedaling without using the motor? Is it comfortable? In case you run completely out of battery, can you still pedaling like a regular bike for a regular commute?
@@LAHover yes you mentioned, I was looking for more information about it I guess, I just sold my super73 because it wasn't feeling like a bicycle at all.
@@danyfalcon7315 Apologies. As far as unpowered pedaling, none of the fat tire e-bikes I have tested are great. I feel this comes down more to the weight and drag from the tires. A bike like the KBO Breeze or Hiboy P7 (just the two I have tested), are easy to pedal without power.
We all know that you are going to ride in the rain and mud but they don't make those bikes for that purpose so they're not going to make any of them to ride in mud and dirt iv rode and raced motocycles and ATV and iv never even seen them come from factory made for mud and rain... so I don't think they will ever make any key cc hole dirt and mud proof ....
Made for it or not, it's what I'm forced to ride in every day. I won't knock a bike too hard for having problems with mud (as I did not here either). But it's good to see some bikes can tolerate it better than others :)
Invece la frenata rigenerativa collegata ai freni è una stupidaggine. Non darebbe nessuna carica alla batteria. Sono stati intelligenti gli ingegneri a legarla solo alla modalità eco e nei livelli di assistenza usati per andare piano.
No offense to you are anything, but almost every video I have seen with folding ebikes, people are sitting to low. You have to sit in a position so that you can peddle properly. These aren't scooters, they are bicycles.
The catches this bike company has absolutely no customer service and when something goes wrong and it will , given the cheapness of parts and the diabolical engineering, u will be a heavy piece of metal s###

@@LAHover Hi, the bicycle stopped working, it died in the middle of the trip, the battery is full, I contacted them but the parts take time because they come from China and I have to repair it myself
@@LAHover They sent me a piece but I had to send videos and photos and it really is a headache.
How bad does the rear suspension work when peddaling. I have high end mountain bikes and can't stand when people ride with us that claim "full suspension", then we see them seesaw while the rear suspension takes away all forward effort, from being weak! Does rear look out?
great review!
Im at 18:00 at the moment, but maybe you should do a video how to clean this much of dirt from bike 😀
So a couple videos where the fenders came off and got stuck in the tire and people wrecked so be careful of that
Looked and you have not done a review on new Lectric XP 3.0. It seems way below the EnginePro for not much less. What dou think?
I'd like to add a motor for the front tire another fat front tire. n an Xtra battry.
Front mud flap on fender would sort that out😊
That big, red, flashing led taillight on your pack is a mandatory piece of equipment. How many flats have you had?
I also dislike the metal fenders on this (and my own) ebike. IF you have a catastrophic blowout, it can (and did on my machine) bend the fender in half on itself, damaging other parts of the bike.
Good reason to pull that back one for sure!
How about a tour of the sawmill ?
Thanks
Battery may not be big name brand, but it's UL approved which is more important to me than anything else. Not concerned about fires with this bike!
I just ordered 1000W Pro version middle of video lol
Aye man I really need your help with my bike I bought a new 80cc kit and I put everything together and it won’t start I checked the spark and everything I still can’t figure out what’s wrong with it I checked the clutch too and it’s not slipping at all but if u can help me with it I would really appreciate it bro love the content and keep up the good work
I can't fix bike issues in the comments (too many things to check) but we can help in our discord server.

I’m satisfied
Can it be cycled in the rain? Like full time lol?
The best bike
I am planning to buy a ENGWE for me, but I am seeing a lot of bad reviews on internet, talking about their customer support that isn't good, do you ever talked to the support? How it was?
I could not say, mine has not required me to contact customer support.
Wish I could help you out.
Brother you are going to need a showroom or very large garage or lean to at bare minimum just to house and protect all your different bikes gas n electric if you get any more lol
👍
How about pedaling without using the motor? Is it comfortable? In case you run completely out of battery, can you still pedaling like a regular bike for a regular commute?
I answered this question in the video...
A bike like the KBO Breeze or Hiboy P7 (just the two I have tested), are easy to pedal without power.
put flat out in
We all know that you are going to ride in the rain and mud but they don't make those bikes for that purpose so they're not going to make any of them to ride in mud and dirt iv rode and raced motocycles and ATV and iv never even seen them come from factory made for mud and rain... so I don't think they will ever make any key cc hole dirt and mud proof ....
Made for it or not, it's what I'm forced to ride in every day. I won't knock a bike too hard for having problems with mud (as I did not here either). But it's good to see some bikes can tolerate it better than others :)
@@LAHover oh yeah I do agree
😛
Invece la frenata rigenerativa collegata ai freni è una stupidaggine.
Non darebbe nessuna carica alla batteria.
Sono stati intelligenti gli ingegneri a legarla solo alla modalità eco e nei livelli di assistenza usati per andare piano.
No offense to you are anything, but almost every video I have seen with folding ebikes, people are sitting to low. You have to sit in a position so that you can peddle properly. These aren't scooters, they are bicycles.
Remove the retarder this enables your E, bike to go three times faster. Many videos showing how this is done on youtube.
How can brakes egen when not connected to the motor lmao, it's a bike not a formula one car.
Look up "regenerative braking"
All these e bikes are only worth about half the price they go for.
The catches this bike company has absolutely no customer service and when something goes wrong and it will , given the cheapness of parts and the diabolical engineering, u will be a heavy piece of metal s###
These bikes are rubbish for price folding bikes are tanks
