    I have this bike in an XL. at 6'3 and 275lbs this thing just straight up rips! Super confidence inspiring and no trouble at all in the PNW where I ride it on all kinds of trails. I changed the brakes to Hope Tech4 E4, rotors to Hope floating, changed the bar to carbon and the stem to a Burg Tech 35mm. Changed the seat and added cush cores in the tires. Rides amazingly!

    I have this bike in a large frame I'm 65 years old and I have no problem blasting this thing up and down every Trail on Phoenix Arizona South Mountain Trails and they are tight and they are rocky and I have no problem keeping up with a herd of young guys half my age on their shorter bikes and every one of them would trade me for my bike because it rides like butter. If anyone wants a nice riding mountain bike , just go buy some Tannus armor inserts and put tubes inside of them, put your tires at around 20 psi and you will not believe how much nicer your mountain bike rides in the rocks and roots. If this bike came with a Bafang m620 S motor it would be the ultimate mountain bike and nobody would be able to touch it for any price.

    I have this bike and love it. Its not an issue to get your Canyon worked on by local shops because they want my business. I have never heard of anyone not getting support from Canyon when they needed it. They hooked me up on new cranks when I had an issue 2 years ago and the local shop did the repairs gladly.

    • @99spokes
      @99spokes  2 месяца назад +1

      That’s great! We didn’t mean so much that they won’t help you, but they’re probably not as familiar with a bike they don’t carry. When I worked at a shop we’d often see similar problems on the same models, and so we could quickly and inexpensively fix them. But yes, for routine maintenance and help with components your LBS is the way to go regardless of what brands they do or don’t carry!

      @@99spokes True that, I just can't find a comparable bike and battery for the same money at the local shops.

    One tip on the bottle holder. It works better with the straps going inside the frame and it has to be installed in the right direction for the straps to have enought slack to do a one handed open. I installed it wrong the first time and then once I installed it right it worked much better.

    My riding buddy has a torque, I went for the strive. The strive is a much better all round bike. The torque is ultimately a versatile downhill bike and is too much bike for everyday riding. The strive comes with the Bosch too so it’s a better choice for about 95% of riders. They are both awesome bikes

      Yo! Thinking about getting the Torque On. As you know both motors, what are the differences?

    • @timmayers4965
      @timmayers4965 4 месяца назад

      @@dergeraet the Bosch has more ooomph and feels slightly more powerful. The shimano is more intuitive and natural feeling. I’ve heard the biggest difference is that Bosch are more reliable and far easier to have serviced. That’s what a lot of people say but I’ve no first hand experience. Both are great, there’s very little in it

    I just got this bike two weeks ago. I ride it in a large and am 5 11 and it fits me great. This bike is impressive. This is my daily bike. I did change the bar and stem and saddle as well as a fender and seat clamp and dropper lever. I use a 31 mm stem and 800 50 riser bat too

    Most thorough video I have found on this bike. I live in southern Utah and have some very rocky, and steep down hill trails. This bike just might be what I'm wanting, although the low BB height does have me concerned.

    • @99spokes
      @99spokes  24 дня назад

      Probably not, this is best for steep, fast descents, and then of course getting you back up to the top to do it again. If you’re set on full suspension I’d take a look at the Specialized Turbo Tero X, sounds like it could be a good option for the type of riding you’re describing

    Would have bought a top model of torque if it wasnt for that terrible bottle. That truly ruins the frame look. Cant imagine how many people skipped the bike because of that.

    • @99spokes
      @99spokes  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, definitely polarizing! But I respect that they did what they had to do optimize suspension kinematics. I’d imagine that most people interested in a bike like this are more concerned with suspension performance than room for a water bottle

    • @Stockfish1511
      @Stockfish1511 6 месяцев назад

      @@99spokes Yeah 99 percent of people dont put waterbottle on their bike anyway. Imo bottle holder is a thing of a past and should be gone for good. I think they should just have made like optional design. Like the bike is a menace, but that bottle is like as tumour sticking out. I would take it without waterbottle any day.-

    The motor response is highly tunable

  • @MM-tn3br
    @MM-tn3br 23 дня назад

    i dont understand why these manuf can't let you have it all. it's always either the rear travel is too short, geometry is wonky, can't put a dual crown fork, or the motor sucks, etc. It's just weird how these guys just can't seem to put a decent bike together for goodness sake.

    • @99spokes
      @99spokes  13 дней назад

      It's always a compromise! The same things that some people might see as a drawback is often a perk for other riders, or at the very least was a requirement for something else to function properly on the bike. But yes, I'll join you on the hunt for a goldilocks bike and let you know if I ever find one haha!
