My wife and I attended the Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo in August and heard the assembled bands playing Walking on the Waves. Everyone around us knew the words but as Americans we'd never heard it. We were blown away. After some Googling we figured out that Skipinnish were responsible for this extraordinary uplifting song. Thank you!
Recently got to know this band and when I first listened to Walking on the Waves, my mind was blown away. How extraordinary. Hope they'll have a live like this in Japan someday sooon. Hina from Tokyo. and hope the pandemic will be over soon so that all musicians can be on stage again.
brilliant - I had a miserable Hogmanay on my own until I changed channels from BBC Scotland to BBC Alba. I dont speak a word of Gaelic but it was a great program full of great music and great singers - and two presenters who did just that without the usual waffle. First time i had ever seen Skipinnish where have they been hiding? I guess the meanstream media has been ignoring them. Well done guys and everyone who played on the Hogmanay Ceilidh - well done BBC Alba!
I would like to lay down on the machair on Lewis or Harris once again. I felt so.... home. I was young, now I'm old. But though I lost my ability to walk, its my everlasting dream. Kind regards ❤ from Jonas Gothenburg Sweden.
And did anyone ever think our governments would do what they've done. And did they not consider we would drag them out of their gardens to atone for our kids.😢😊😂
BRILLIANT BBC Scotland take note this is how to do a Hogmanay programme. My family which range from 13 to 70 who don't speak Gaelic all loved this and felt like we were part of a huge party. Please BBC Alba more like this next year. Loved Skipinnish.
I just discovered Skipinnish a few weeks ago and I am listening to this song 10 times everyday! Seeing this videoclip gives me goosebumps, makes me smile and brings a tear to my eye, all at the same time.

Glè mhath sgoinneil
who is the girl in the red dress and pony tail.?
I think it's Kirsteen MacDonald, a BBC Alba Broadcaster
Is this the same guy who is in 'tide lines' now?
Doug Reed yes that’s correct
@@gordonmillar6358 thanks for letting me know.
His singing voice is no match for Andy Stewart, but this is a half decent Hogmanay show, much better than the drivel on the BBC or ITV.
Been waiting for skipinnish for a wee while to do the big tent ⛺ Inverness can't wait vicars and Liz 😀
my class was better 5th
That smile !
Class
