Hi Geoff, when fishing for Carp as they are strong and can pull the rod of it's rest if not careful, I put the bait runner on. The fish should hook itself with the bolt rig. The bait runner feature will then let the fish run giving you time to pick up the rod and connect with the fish. Hope this helps
Wouldn't work effectively for pike, as pike would spook and drop the bait when detecting the weight of the lead. Pike like to pick up a bait and move away with it in the tip of its jaws before actually consuming as I said if it felt the lead it would drop the bait.

Can use a different colour mono or braid I can’t see it but the explanation is very clear
Yes good point. I have since found some hi vis line I will use for future vids.
@@PhillWyattFishing cheers
Does this mean the lead ejects on a normal run or do u get to keep the lead
No the lead stays put on a normal run. There is enough friction to keep it in place.
Another great simple rig Phil . I reckon I could adapt the same method for pike , what do ya think ?
Thanks David, Yea maybe you could although I am not much of a Pike fisherman to be honest so I could not really advise on that.

Why not mention size of hook you use??
@@patrickmclaughlind.c.7141 the size of the hook depends on the venue and type of water. But the method is the same.
