Personally I would love to vote with this party because they do mix left and right wing values and actually stand for the family and the community unlike our two major political parties. I wish that the US was more friendly to third parties and we could actually have a system where you didn't have to pick between two evils that don't necessarily align with our views or if a certain party gets 5% of the popular vote they get a certain portion of representation but I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon
Now I'm wondering just how deep down the third party rabbit hole we're going to go. Things are kinda... interesting... when you get to things like the Natural Law Party.
Thank you so much for this video! It's the first time that I see a political party that doesn't make me think "well, that's the lesser of two evils" Thanks again for this educational video!
The party isn’t Christian, it’s part of a political philosophy more common in Europe called “Christian Democracy”. For example, Angela Merkel in Germany is a member of the Christian Democrats there
I've been watching a lot of your videos recently and they're great! Although I'm educated on most the topics you cover, it's really interesting hearing someone come at these topics in a simple and non-biased manner. Keep up the great work! 👍
@@mke_galThe ASP and its current presidential candidate, Peter Sonski, are pretty open about the fact that the party platform is based on Catholic Social Teaching (CST). They've directly said so. In practical terms it doesn't differ much from a general Christian political ethos, but it does follow the Catholic Church's position that freedom of religion must be respected, so it excludes many farther-right theocratic ideals.
I probably agree with about 80% of the positions stated in this video, I'm part of the Republican party. I'm definitely more conservative on immigration than the solidarity party. Overall I agree with an approach that is compassionate economically (but not socialist) while conservative socially.
This is one of those parties that I would say is truly "moderate Democratic." Their identity politics are largely conservative while their other policies slightly lean (not tilt) left. I would never join this party since I am a Christian conservative Republican, holding to much of the same policies described in the first part of the video while against parts of their economic and immigration policies. Their war policy is spot on!
4:36 This last section on Immigration/Foreign Policy is nearly identical to the Green Party's platform. Would be nice to see some of these parties join under one banner.
They do have remarkably similar policies on quite a few issues but I think the ASPs religious beliefs would get in the a way of a unification of the parties. This isn't a bad thing in my opinion, they could become powerful allies and bring and end to the two party state as we know it.
That is a wonderful idea. I've been saying something like that to people but I also noticed that the platform of the green party and the Peace and freedom party are very much alike. So why couldn't they unite and it may be called The Green Peace and freedom party or I'll become part of the solidarity party or something like that. But people who want to see real change need to unite together, when they're just like hundreds of parties to choose from well we don't get anywhere
The green party is a very far left party and the ASP is a centrist party at least on major economic and social issues so to have a merger would be a terrible idea and the green party would drown out ASP views
Have you considered doing a video on the Movement for a People’s Party? This is a very fledgling, early-days proto political party, but in terms of the very contemporary shift it represents in American politics, I think it deserves a video at least as much as the Solidarity Party. Perhaps a history of recent left wing political movements leading up to the inaugural convention of Movement for a People’s Party this year would be a great place to start such a video. I recommend this primarily because the current balance of your videos is 1 left-wing party (Green) and 3 right-wing parties (Constitution, Solidarity, and IMO Libertarian), and this new party is sort of emerging to fill the vacuum in the left and now might be a great time to cover it!
Follow up: I acknowledge that framing the Solidarity Party as “right wing” is overly simplistic. Nevertheless I do thing the Movement for a People’s Party would be a great addition to your collection here,
