Ohio State was very clean, and the musicality was excellent but they lacked entertainment. Great job to this band for doing all of it plus more. A better performance than Ohio for sure. I loved when you guys played Neck as well, coming from a Grambling State Tuba player.✊
Ohio State doesn't do entertaining in their parades. They rely on crisp and clean musicality. Knowing that you are from Grambling, as well as knowing about and seeing HBCU bands, I get your perspective. Musically, in terms of execution, OSU won this hands down.
Really two entirely different bands. A traditional band that plays the same thing every time they play and a band more like a pep band that’s for style.
Yeah, coming from a Husky fan, I don't really understand how the Husky band ended up playing "Neck". It's catchy, but I figure it's more of a tune for those university bands in Louisiana and the rest of the south.
That's awesome. I wonder if Ohio State was at California Adventure. Or did they have both bands perform at Disneyland? Was Ohio State even at the resort at all? I hope they were because I have always liked Ohio State. Glad they won.
@@musicamenities Yes. I just watched your other video on them. So cool. 2 of my favorite things together. Marching bands (especially OSU) and Disneyland. In fact, it's partially because of marching band why I love Disneyland so much. Getting to perform there is such an amazing experience. I wish I could have done it more. Anyways, Go Bucks.

Check out their halftime shows. While they do not entertain in the same manner as HBCUs do at football games, they are unique and marching shows.

Funnily enough, the UW band director is an Ohio State alum!
I was there on Sunday! Not really a fan of either team but I would have to say that this band was way more entertaining than the Ohio State one.
Totally agree!

Yes, Ohio State's bands were only at the Disneyland Park that day. Go Ohio!
