These tunes bring me back to the time when (most) things were "well and good". And even if they weren't, I was certainly not the one to blame, anyway.
This would be really good for an orchestra to play at an international event, all the anthems fit really well together.
Why did they use The Internationale for the anthem of the U.S.S.R.?
They were only off by 40 years...give them a break.

Australian national anthem is actually an old folk song "Waltzing Matilda"

oh, and by the way ... to do the high jump, DON'T push and hold up as soon as you jump. flick the stick up just as you go over the bar. it took me damn near 10 years to figure that out because the damn manual was written poorly. :D
i'm still amazed at how the SID chip could bring the bass. for those who've never heard a C64 in person, it literally does sound almost identical to this.
I know you got the C64 version of those national anthems. Perhaps those for Amiga sounds almost as real as it gets.
I am quite surprised, that 1985 the "Internationale" should still be anthem of USSR. As far as I have researched, it was no more official anthem since 1944... Then, the new anthem was introduced.

"advance australia fair" wasn't made the official national anthem until 1984, which means it's entirely possible this game might already have gone to press/packaging before then, or epyx just didn't know about it.

My sister and I loved playing this as kids, but it always pissed us off that our (Australian) anthem wasn't actually on there. I mean seriously, what is THAT about?
No Advance Australia Fair? The anthem was adopted in 1984, this game came out in 1985. WTF?!

I realize you asked this two years ago, but the answer to your question: the song at the beginning of the game is “Bugler’s Dream” and is also known as the Olympic Theme.

I he been trying to emulate summer games 2 but every time I launch it I get my ears raped by the loading sound, then it plays the first seconds of the song, then gives me a screen of "e's" then it crashes. anyone know why?

By the way, the "Internationale" is used here as the Soviet anthem. This is historically incorrect, they should have used the "National Anthem of the Soviet Union".

Considering "The Internationale" was replaced in 1944 with "State Anthem of the Soviet Union," it seems odd that Epyx went with the long obsolete version.
