The famous Adelphi in Lime St Liverpool. I helped at a trade exhibition once held in one of the halls. I'm surprised it's so cheap. I remember seeing Tony Booth staying there when the Sun newspapers were saying he was bankrupt. That Rupert Murdoch really was a nasty piece of work.
Blame the management. No class . The room looks like an ibis or other budget hotel chain. It’s a shame to see the grandeur of the hotel destroyed. It deserves far better.
In the early 1940s (Big War stuff, going on etc.), this Hotel was the "hottest place in all of "Liverpool town", for any respectable chick seeking, to meet, some upper class Soldier/ Sailor/ RAF etc, . All the Town, hotty factory working girls...of course knew this.... and fought to get onto the Dance Floor, with a fancy uniformed guy, etc. Every night (regardless of the ongoing bombing raids etc,), the dance floor was always full. Regardless of the outside Bomb bonging, gun banging etc.....somewhere outside, ..... the Band .....never missed a beat.
Great value for what you get, they've obviously spent a lot of money in upgrading this hotel over the recent years - Does anyone remember watching (over 20 years ago) 'The Alelphi' an 8 part series documentating the trials and trauma of the this prestigious Adelphi hotel?
I stayed one night never again it was disgraceful they have changed furniture and updated bathroom a bit , its a listed building used for Titanic passengers back in the day ❤
Interesting - Clearly a Freemason's Lodge must meet at the Adelphi, because the room at 5:00 was set up as a Masonic Temple. Surprised you didnt pick up on that. Many lodges meet in pubs and hotels, so it is not unusual at all. The public are allowed into them as long as the Temple has not been "Tyled" i.e. the brethren are not in there conducting Masonic business.
I didn't know at the time I filmed it but found out later that day and yes there is a masonic lodge that meets there on a regular basis I just didn't think they would at a britannia lol
Hotel is amazing, £39 a night bedrooms are in very poorly condition and if you book on the day it's worst and they charge £70 + for the bedroom you're showing. 🤐😕😊
i have stayed here many a time but the place has past its sell by date it needs to close for two years a get refurbished it would be an amazing place with a few million spent on it. the hotel is a wash in history with the beatles playing there. last year there was a young girl killed in it wardrobe fell on her the are out of the ark very heavy furniture as i said needs shutting and refurbed.
Closing this hotel for 2 or so years wouldn't be an option for numerous reasons. From what i have seen in this video, a lot of money has recently been spent in the refurbishment of rooms and the main parts of this hotel. Rewind 20+ years when 'The Adelphi' TV series was shown on TV and you will see what i mean and if this hotel are only charging what they are for rooms, that would be a big factor!
@@matthew6994 I think what they spent was only penny's for a hotel that size they closed the shelbourne in Dublin for two year also a listed building opened up never looked back probably not for everybody to do same

At least is open to the public unlike other hotels that are hosting illegals in them .
It's a shame that all these hotels have been let down they are a beautiful building wow
Somebody told me that hotel was based on the Titanic ship. The decor, furnishings, and so forth.

Yes, That program was on RUclips. Don't know if it still is.
Eileen Downy used to be manageress. She's in charge of Pontins now.
@@independentpuppy7520 Yes, i remember watching her when she was on Watchdog...What a character!
Hello! I’m going there with my dad in July. Please tell me what room you stayed in, because it would be perfect for us and it looked fresh enough!
The circled seats either Masonic meet or spooky church development circle 😅
All in all seems much better now.
Yep you're right it's masonic
Have stayed there many times , always clean room and bedding etc , never had a meal there.
Brilliant hotel very cheap and and bang in the centre 👍👍👍👍👍

They also had a shooting range underneath like the basement also had a turtle area as the posh people in those days enjoyed turtle soup yuck
Mattress on bed looked very thin?
I'd be happy there. Bargain at £39 per night in a major city centre
Heard it was very haunted and the room don't look bad 4 the price it's the name and brand that gets the wrap
Too cheap for dinghy divers
Would love to stay there but I'd need photo ID to check in which I don't have grrr lol
Anything with your name on is fine.. ie bank card etc

I WOUDN'Y STAY THERE IF YOU PAID ME !!!
Any ghosts? 😂
All of these Britannia review videos come to the same conclusion "well it wasn't as bad as they said "
With the exception of the Europa at Gatwick I certainly won't be rushing back there
