I really like that you discuss the broader context and not simply the specifics of a new feature. This space is changing so fast, that every now and then, I would love to hear what you guys are actively using and how. I feel like I am not leveraging the tools as much as I could because it's all just too much to track.
I think Perplexity, which y’all turned me on to btw, is better because it at least attempt the show citations for each sentence. Is it that accurate? No, but it’s still better and more importantly, good at building trust since the user can manually verify the output
hahaha well i'm glad *someone* appreciated this. overall, this video views down for average on the channel so maybe that jump turned too many people away lol.
@AIForHumansShow Hmmm I think that's more about the thumbnail turning into sorta unexciting instead of exciting "You need to see this!" or "You need this!" or something 😆 Edit: Or something funny but still somewhat mysterious!
I remember back in the day when I was still fond of Google …. And RUclips 😂 Edit: I do think many people will fall into the “trap” of letting AI choose whatever it “decides” is relevant, but those are the same people who already do that with the current technology. If we stay curious and motivated to dig, I think we’ll be ok …????😂😂😂
@@AIForHumansShow 😂I’m still here after all these years because there is still great content (yours included😁) But I do miss the old days of RUclips and I do wish there was a decent alternative. But for now, I pay monthly so I don’t have to watch ads, and I try to diligently search for content that goes beyond what’s recommended by the algorithm. Once again, thanks for being engaged with your audience! It must be a ton of work! 🥰
To me the real question is exactly how will they monetize? Will we get to a place where they end up doing the same thing Google is doing (except more “hidden“)? If we only get one result, for example, how will we know it won’t be a sponsored result?
yeah this is a big question and it seems like 'sponsored results' are a way that's being explored -- basically if you're a free user you'd get an additional result that would include an ad
Make a list of 11 - 15 things one might want to look up, then have a match where one person uses google, the other ChatGPT with Search. The first person to know the piece of information gets a point. Thinking you know the answer but it was actually wrong loses a point. Make that a video. Let's see if this is any more efficient than plain old googling.
hahaha the true fans know -- that said I did find out I'm gonna have to have a more significant surgery (it's a skin cancer but the weakest kind) so look out for new bandaged head towards the end of the year
I like the shorter topical video! The podcast is fun and nice to listen to but it can be long and daunting to listen to and invest so much time into. This is just quick enough to squeeze in a view. ❤🎉 Where is Kevin!
hey thanks for watching -- yeah we're experimenting with a few more of these sorts of things. in general, we're thinking of these vids as single hosted (because that's honestly where most of YT lies) and Kevin has done one as well (check out his Suno covers vid) but we'll keep trying different things!
So far my experience with ChatGPT search has been "meh." This morning none of the links work and many are incorrect. I replaced Chrome search with Perplexity a while back which as been an improvement to my daily workflow. I use Google as a destination for looking more deeply at a subject, but get quick answers from Perplexity and their links work. Obviously m'boy SammyA is gonna be knocking heads until shit like this gets fixed & he carves a slice of that sweet Google search pie. But at least for me, it's a dull knife so far.
yeah i understand that feeling but... it will get better and i think we're directly heading into a world where we, the humans, really won't do much searching for stuff directly anymore. the weirdest thing is that a lot of the hallucination problems are getting solved and that's a big steps towards something. thanks for watching!
Probably not the best way to implement AI. AI is an optamizer. Current siftwares and apps are aggregators. How to combine both approaches to make a seemless user experience? Is it by eliminating one in expense of the other or make them coexist in the same world? A hybrid approach instead? Do we want full AI autonomy working on our behalf or keep our agency while AI automate tasks in our behalf in the background for us?

yeah we're trying to give some sense of how this all fits into the larger world of the internet and AI -- will keep this in mind!
who needs chatgpt search when this video was everything i was searching for
now we're talking
this comment is money
Brown noser!
TOTALLY KIDDING!😂😂😂

def more robust for now -- and agree with the verification of the output
0:03 I don't know why this jump is so funny to me

Great video breakdown.
hey thanks Julia! big fan of your videos as well.

to me it's the 'stay curious' part that I am worried about I HOPE WE CAN
hahah well stay here on RUclips FOR US AT LEAST
Most people love it when someone else decides for them.
@@professor-dad yep and prob why algorithmic content has taken off so much.

hahaha we love a good Andy Griffith whistling reference
I'm just pleased your head is healing.

The search is awesome.
it really has impressed me a ton so far
yes we want this. I can't find crap on google anymore
thx!

Their search kinda sucks.
as we always say with AI 'this is the worst it will ever be'
Of course Gavin would ask about his most favourite person in the world, Daddy Elon, is up to today 😛
hahah yes OF COURSE
