I think you're looking for the word Dithering. It's image Dithering that simulates shading on an image or in something like a video game

I like the Gan mosaic better. It's so neatly done. You can't even see where individual cubes meet - so uniform are the "pixels". I don't mind Gan mosaic cubes not corner cutting - they aren't meant to be speedcubes. Moyu just used their keychain cubes which are good for solving but not that great for mosaics.

I've always been looking forward to mosaic puzzle from cube company other than the gan coz I believe it would be more affordable. But sadly it seems like it was priced quite similarly as the gan :(
