Louder for the people in the back!! I love that you had the balls to make this. I do not understand people trying to say that being obese is not a huge health concern.
Limiting the scope of the conversation to preventable obesity - the whole "it's my life and my choices! It doesn't have an impact on others, so don't tell me how to live my life" line of reasoning falls short for me (just like it did in the 1990s with smoking). Burden of disease is a measure of the years of healthy life lost from living with, or dying from disease and injury. A portion of this burden is preventable, being due to modifiable risk factors. Being overweight (inc. obesity) is in the top two preventable contributing risk factors for both fatal and non-fatal disease in most developed countries. That means, as a public health issue, on a population level being overweight has a detrimental impact on life basically on par with regular tobacco use. That impact isn't limited to the personal domain. It manifests as significant socio-economic costs that are borne by the rest of society. That said, human psychology is complex and relationships with food and lifestyle habits can often best be thought of in line with addiction. Trying to shame someone out of an addiction will probably only be effective for a very, very small proportion of people. For most, negative messaging about their addiction will simply cause them not to listen or jump on the "fake news" bandwagon of dismissing evidence. Normally, it takes concerted, sustainable intervention from multiple sources that is tailored to the individual's preferences for reforming schemas to support someone to break an addiction.
I think we're getting to the sticky part of the woke movement where things have been pushed too far to the extreme, at the risk of encouraging people into dangerous situations and unhealthy life options. It's good to see educated people with a large following take up the fight despite the potential backlash. Something does need to be done and it's good to see people out their continuing to educate. Love your work.

Thanks, Scott. You're a good guy. I started my fitness journey about eight months ago and watched many of your videos as well as one other guy on RUclips on how to do exercises properly. I lift weights three times a week, doing a full body routine that consists of: air squats, chest presses, bent over rows, Arnold presses, and Romanian dead lifts. Then I do cardio for 30 minutes. On my off days I just do 30 minutes of cardio. I've lost 32 pounds and put on quite a bit of muscle in the process. I still eat the food I love, just not as much of it. If I can do it, other people can do it too.
At last, a video that's longer than a minute. I don't like to tell you what to do, but I think you ought to be making videos (not shorts) more often, because I love your videos and down-to-Earth personality. You mentioned in this and past videos that you were picked on as a kid. I can totally relate. I was bullied verbally and physically almost every day in school. I didn't know why then, but I later found out it's because I'm autistic (Asperger's) and I was treated like a freak who didn't fit in. After I graduated school, I was real picky about what jobs I want to apply for, because I'm done putting up with unfriendly people. Also, yesterday my pack of resistance bands came in the mail; and today my ISO-100 cookies and cream protein powder came in. Now I'm ready to get to work and achieve the summer body by summer.
Great video. I will say that I disagree with one thing you said. You mentioned some people are mean about expressing someone being fat. Now we would agree that there are people that will take offense at the things you mentioned here and accuse you of being mean, which you were not in the slightest. The things you said and the way you expressed what you said was bold and loving. But some people like the ones who picked on you as you mentioned come from a place of hate. The thing I disagree with is you saying you are kinda okay with that bc of the result. That would be saying the ends justify the means which is a slippery slope. But I'm glad you are speaking out and not bending over by staying silent bc you "might" get cancelled or lose followers etc. We need more men and ladies standing up to the left and speaking truth about the wicked culture they have created and that the faux right have allowed.
I personally know multiple people that drink too much, are severely overweight and seem to have no plans to do anything about it. It's sad because I know there is a huge chance they are knocking their lifespan down significantly.
I enjoy pushing myself to new physical limits getting stronger, better conditioned, and as a dad I definitely have a dad bod. The kind of dad bod that can carry his 40 lbs+ kid for miles. I probably do too much cardio, yet teaching my son how to wrestle is totally worth it!
You're not changing anyone's mind let the fat be fat it literally doesn't effect us normal people. I lost 40lbs in 6-7 months it's as simple as not eating so much. I'm sitting at 205lbs 6ft tall hoping of getting down to 180lbs-185lbs.
I hear you... but you are wrong. I've been making videos for 13 years and have personally met many of my subscribers at events and during my travels that have told me my videos changed their entire outlook on life. Even if it is just one person at a time. Every little bit helps.
You also need to see that it's not just a bunch of people, but that whole societies get fatter and fatter. It's a real problem, and we can't just ignore it, but need to raise awareness for the problem.

Dude!! Scott you are on point here. First of all thank you for the content. I was way overweight and diagnosed with CHF at 42 years old. All because of what I ate and drank. I dropped the weight, got my heart strength back. Now I coach nutrition and fitness. Between us you got me through coaching a lot in the beginning with your technique videos lol. I thought I was fine when I was overweight, not a care in the world. Til I got sick. Now I am disgusted looking back at my photos. I got in to this because I am a living example of the pitfalls of eating, drinking and not giving a shit. When I start with a client I show them what I looked like, tell them how it almost killed me. Then I let them know how amazing I feel now. It’s not too late. This whole embrace your body thing is BS but fit people are outnumbered by obese now in America. I usually ask in the first session how many old obese people they see walking around. You don’t. They are bed ridden or gone. Harsh but true. Anyways Scott. Your the man, keep putting out the content. Let’s spread the fitness.
Fatphobic=fat fearing. For example, if a molecule is hydrophobic it is repelled by water. To be repelled by fat is perfectly acceptable, regardless of whether or not it hurts a fat person's feelings. When an obese person calls out fat phobic they are ducking responsibility for changing themselves, i.e. they are the victim because society at large does not cater to their needs (bigger chairs, bigger hospital beds and on and on....) If someone hooked up to oxygen, unable to walk, bathe or do basic human chores wants to say I'm fat phobic they'd be 100 percent spot on. Speaking of which, this video is spot on ;-)
Been following your content for over 10 years now, ever since I started working out in high school. One of the biggest reasons I followed you is because of your no BS, no fluff approach to fitness. Respect for sticking to it all these years and saying what others may be too afraid to say.
The only thing worst than not taking care of yourself is accepting the fact that you are weak. Being strong minded requires courage against those who are afraid of the light.
The opposite of being obese is not plain skinny or anorexic. It's being healthy and taking care of your body. Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live.
Absolutely agree!! Right in as always Love your content for years man, aging like fine wine. Thank you for everything you’ve done for us all these years Scott. A real dude, stand up traditional man. Respect! 💪🏻🇺🇸❤️🚀
I just wanna say that it’s easy to be fat but harder at the same time, just like it’s hard to be healthy but at the same time easier. I started my weight loss journey dec 2022 at 355 and I’m currently at 310. I could not agree more with you and I wish I had more people like you in my life.
I’ve been subbed for a long time, and I’ve learned a lot from you. However, some of your comments and some things you said in the video are a little disappointing. You seem to have seen a couple of vids in TikTok and got heated. That underwear pic was an ad for people who are their sizes, no matter what the reason is, to see what the product looks like. You don’t know anything ab that woman’s life. Yes, not everybody has the “willpower” to take care of themselves. But some people also have eating disorders or depression or other mental illnesses that make it difficult. I only got into fitness after I was able to afford taking care of my mental health, and then a gym membership. I had the willpower in me, but there was a lot more to deal with before I could do anything about it. While there are people with twisted mindsets ab how large they are and they want to rationalize it, you’re generalizing in a dangerous way. Being fat phobic is being prejudice against people who are “obese”. The reason why I put obese in quotation marks is bc the obese number is a little hazy but we’ll move on. You got your definition from a sarcastic website to support your own thoughts lol. Pls just stick to making fitness videos bro. I don’t think I’ll continue watching but I know you’ve helped a lot of people and you continue to
This was a great video. You have no idea how much I identify with the warrior mindest and thinking about how I can handle myself in situations to protect myself and my family. Besides that though, there is so much truth in this video. People were mean as fuck to me growing up as well and I'm a pretty decent human being as well regardless of it and possibly because of it. Our experiences all shape who we are and being coddled and protected serves no one well. Your blunt take has been missed. Hope to see more videos out of you again :)
Scott, great video! Sorry to hear you were bullied in your younger days. A few years ago I remember reading a VERY interesting study about why children/people bully. It suggested that the reason for bullying didn’t stem from hatred but actually to help the person being bullied. Basically the thought process was people who didn’t align with the perceived social norms would be bullied by people who fit in social norms to get them to conform and ideally become part of the normal society “pack” This is not to downplay the serious adverse mental affect severe bullying could have on children especially. Im not trying to offend anyone. I found it interesting that basically it was suggesting bullying was a type of instinctual helping of outcasts. A lot of people are assholes for no discernible reason though so take that information as you want.
I think I can understand the word cause some people out there really hate fat people. The kind of hate that is given to some religions, races, etc. But in some cases it's just nonsense. There has to be a line.
Yeah, in a narrow sense, the word describes something real. (Although I'd prefer to call it *hate* instead of phobic if you e. g. beat up people for being any kind of different. Phobia feels like a euphemism.) However, wanting to be healthy? Acknowledging that overweight is not? Hell, even finding leanness more attractive? Using the word for that as well is wrong. Keep it for the hard stuff.
I am obese. I have been that way for as long as I can remember. I am also an athlete--I row/paddle competitively. This year I traveled to Thailand and competed in the world championship dragonboat races. Being obese, I face a lot of "fatphobic" comments. I am told over and over by my coaches and doctors that I am too fat but also "you're so strong." My diet is plant-based and has been evaluated by a multitude of nutritionists and fitness coaches. No one has figured out why I am fat. I just found your videos and I appreciate them for your attention to detail. I also watch you and think "this guy has health privilege"...you are not fat and you seem relatively healthy. Your body is a "normal" size. However, not everyone is the same and those of us fighting against fatphobic language and comments are trying to de-stigmatize being fat...because not all of us fat/big people are unhealthy or sitting around eating "candies and snacks".
You should probably go to a doctor and get a blood panel done. "Plant-based" doesn't mean low calorie or even healthy. Strongmen are strong too but also fat. Calories in vs. calories out is physics; your body does not defy physics.
Even I learned karate to defend/protect myself against bullies like you and many others did, people say dieting and exercise doesn't in fat loss how stupid then why we don't see a single fat person in areas of starvation or any professional athlete?.
Was beefy at 16% bodyfat 4 years ago. I had the whole lifestyle of healthy eating and consistent exercise. I was proud of my self. Then Covid happened. And I gained 10kg. Alcohol+ bad food. All my blood work is poor. I have no excuse. But now I’m on track to loosing it and going back to that healthy lifestyle I had. I’m doing this for my health, self esteem and like you, deterrent. People is less likely to mess with you if you’re beefy. I do MuayThai too as my cardio. If this makes me a bigot and Fatphobic then I’m ok with that too. I don’t use it as an excuse to be lazy or living an unhealthy lifestyle. Besides, being older and can participate a Spartan race for example is something I enjoy.
I watched some of your videos back in 2010, Spartacus workout and stuff like that. Even went to gym with a guy looks like you but gave up because it was too much work. Finally gave it a go 4 years ago with calisthenics and running but left because of laziness again (and damn, running IS boring and that's a fact). But I've been skinny all the way. I gained so much fat during the last 6 months that I can't wear last summer's pants from my brother's wedding because I can't zip it. Even my shirt button popped during a shoelacing. I realised I can't lift my legs straight because my belly doesn't let it. So my first thought was that I must immediately stop it, no acceptance, no pity for 'new me', I literally live next to a running track and can have calisthenics at home so there's no delay. But I forgot it again because of personal issues, and this video just strikes at me now. I never thought this side of you, and it wake me up. Watched your other channel, games, girlfriend, being cool which wasn't some big thing but somehow out of character (I really like the Scott vs. Bigger Guy in Gym video with that ABBA song, but at least it's gym and fun combined), so it didn't affect me. But this: standing out, critisizing wokeism, having true to your cause opened my eyes for the last time. I need to shape up finally. I have the will actually but always made excuses. Thanks Scott!
Hey, Scott just wanna say I've only been following and watching you for 2 maybe 3 years. But you're in my top 3 go to fitness influencers/coach's. I loved watching your personal success and overcoming video a few months back. It was like listening to the books "think and growing rich" and "the magic of thinking big"! Anyways keep it up and always be on the go and the grow!
I was 550lbs and I knew my lifestyle was wrong and had to change and when people close to me outright told me if I continued on this path I would not make it to 40. I decided to change everything about my lifestyle and 20 months later dropped to 250lbs and I feel the best that I have ever been. Never going back and I hate people that excuse the obese lifestyle
We do not condone people who dont want to smoke cigarattes for being tobaccophobic We do not condone people who dont want to drink alcohol for being alcoholphobic We respect their choices for avoiding certain things which might give temporary pleasure, and prioritizing their long term health I do not get why it is so different for the multitude of health concerns amplified by obesity and people being motivated to be fit and avoid those health concerns. Again, if someone is personally okay with indulging with food and not be concerned with the negative health effects....so be it. It's your loss 🤷♀ There's nothing fatphobic about not having those problems for myself, especially when the solution is very much in my own control
Great content, couldn’t agree anymore. Maybe it’s a NH thing, we were in the same class in SHS! I’m at the point in my life where I’m taking it back, just turned 36 and looking at your content for help brother
I was posting less. I took the last year to build a mobile game. Check it out! www.wagmigame.io Buy I will be posting more here. So look out for more videos!
i've kinda come up with the hypothesis that fear is the only thing that gives these people power. you speak your mind, what are they gonna do? boycott your channel, spread word to their friends to boycott? they don't come here already anyway. they could affect advertising, buy that comes right back to it. advertisers would be afraid of nothing. the people who are upset weren't going to come here anyway, and the people who use the information will. same thing goes for anything. some restaurant triggers people with some viral video. are the people complaining on the internet from Maine or Missouri really going to have a tangible effect on a restaurant in Arizona? Are the people right there in Arizona that go regularly actually going to stop going because of something on the internet? how many of you have *ever* stopped using something that you did use before because of something that happened to someone else (i'm not really counting scams in this, like car dealership doing a yo-yo scam or a contractor taking the money and disappearing)?
I see your point but I think there are two things to add. One is that it’s ok the mindset you have about working out to protect yourself and others, but not everyone has had the experiences that shape that mindset. The other thing is that of course it’s not healthy to be overweight or obese but the way you approach it is where it becomes fat-phobic, and that you’ve received hate doesn’t entitle you to hate on someone else. What I mean is that what we can do is encourage people to be healthier without making them feel bad for how they look like at the moment or for the decisions they have done that made them be overweight, instead we should show them how exercising and eating well makes them feel good about how they look like, with their own body, being more functional, etc but always doing it with love and never bringing them down. Love your channel and content but I don’t agree with you saying it’s ok to fat shame someone, that can actually make them reject the lifestyle we want for them.
You're right, the only caveat is some people are obese for reasons of health conditions and / or medication side effects - in that case the "willpower" argument is problematic and wrong. I think we should not judge anyone for being obese because we don't know their story. Rather we should encourage everyone to be more healthy and applaud everyone who makes an effort in their own way and limitations.
Listen there's such a thing as being mean for no reason to fat people, or even worse trying to drag down people in the gym who are fat and trying to better themselves. But other than that, there's no such thing as fatphobia. Everyone should get in shape and get healthy, even a small bit. It's good for you and it makes society lot healthier and confident.
Did you see Bill Burr on Conan O'Brien's podcast recently? "All these fat people crying because they can't stop eating cookies. You know most of the world is starving?"
I weighted 220 pounds on may 2022. Fast forward Dec 2022, I lost 70 pounds. I started weight lifting and gained muscle. Currently sitting on the same weight but with far more muscle, meaning that I have burned fat while gaining muscle. People should do the work and stop complaining and coping using coward tactics such as shaming you for stating facts by calling out unhealthy eating habits.
Get em Scotty. People need to start looking at facts and stop worrying about there "Feelings". We can't just pretend to live in a fantasy land to appease these people.

Speaking of which, this video is spot on ;-)
Thanks for this. I don't feel so guilty for mentally fat-shaming obese people
Been following your content for over 10 years now, ever since I started working out in high school. One of the biggest reasons I followed you is because of your no BS, no fluff approach to fitness. Respect for sticking to it all these years and saying what others may be too afraid to say.

What's up Scott! Glad to see you on YT! My favorite fitness influencer 👍
What’s up man! Thanks for the support! We back!
Scott says “Hey Idiot” in the nicest way I’ve ever heard haha. I want an app where Scott yells at me to get in the gym.
Hey man, keep it raw. Respect to you sir.
Always keeping it real man!
The only thing worst than not taking care of yourself is accepting the fact that you are weak. Being strong minded requires courage against those who are afraid of the light.

Nice to see some objective truth being shouted aloud. Good on you Mr. Herman
Finally… someone that isn’t afraid
No fear here!
Lol you really think people are afraid?
More content like this, Scott! Awesome video
The narcissism and nihilism in society has gone to insane levels. People have lost the sense of obligation to their family and society as well.

Well said Scott 💪
Love your videos
Ha ha, I saw the number '3' on my RUclips notification bell icon. It should only be '2'. 3? Oh, Scott posted a new video! Nice! LOL.
Lol yeah man! Been a while but we’re BACK!!
Thank you for speaking out against this woke nonsense, Scott!
PREACH!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
The opposite of being obese is not plain skinny or anorexic.
It's being healthy and taking care of your body.
Take care of your body.
It's the only place you have to live.
All I heard through this video was Facts, Truth, Reality then more Facts sprinkled with more Truth. Someone had to speak out! Well done Scott.
Glad you're back
I missed these kinds of uploads from you Scott, please do more! 🥺
The talk I needed to start my cardio back up after being a lazy slob for a couple weeks
Absolutely agree!! Right in as always
Love your content for years man, aging like fine wine.
Thank you for everything you’ve done for us all these years Scott.
A real dude, stand up traditional man. Respect!
💪🏻🇺🇸❤️🚀
Scott may have been gone for two months but his returns are always bangers 🔥
Thank you my bro! 🙏
I don’t think I’ll continue watching but I know you’ve helped a lot of people and you continue to
Great video!! Shout it from the highest mountain. This is what is wrong with the world today! Thank you!!
Basically the thought process was people who didn’t align with the perceived social norms would be bullied by people who fit in social norms to get them to conform and ideally become part of the normal society “pack”
This is not to downplay the serious adverse mental affect severe bullying could have on children especially. Im not trying to offend anyone.
I found it interesting that basically it was suggesting bullying was a type of instinctual helping of outcasts.
A lot of people are assholes for no discernible reason though so take that information as you want.

Well spoken .The majority don't mean a thing.
Phobia feels like a euphemism.)
However, wanting to be healthy? Acknowledging that overweight is not? Hell, even finding leanness more attractive?
Using the word for that as well is wrong. Keep it for the hard stuff.
Great video Scott. 100% Truth!! I approve of this message wholeheartedly!

Good on you Scott, we need to bring back a healthy amount of shame, it serves a critical role in controlling our most destructive impulses.

Even I learned karate to defend/protect myself against bullies like you and many others did, people say dieting and exercise doesn't in fat loss how stupid then why we don't see a single fat person in areas of starvation or any professional athlete?.
Thanks for standing up against this madness,
Also I think we must call these arrogant ppl FitnessPhobic/HeathyPhobic! 😊

100% agree! I’m so glad my friends called me out for being overweight, I feel so much better now that I’ve started to improve myself!

Well said buddy 👍👍👍
love love love it!!!
Thank you man!
Welcome back!!! Keep up the content
Well put Scott
We do not condone people who dont want to smoke cigarattes for being tobaccophobic
We do not condone people who dont want to drink alcohol for being alcoholphobic
We respect their choices for avoiding certain things which might give temporary pleasure, and prioritizing their long term health
I do not get why it is so different for the multitude of health concerns amplified by obesity and people being motivated to be fit and avoid those health concerns.
Again, if someone is personally okay with indulging with food and not be concerned with the negative health effects....so be it. It's your loss 🤷♀
There's nothing fatphobic about not having those problems for myself, especially when the solution is very much in my own control
My brother basically stopped working out the day he got married. Now he's got a thin build and complains of hip and back problems. Connection?...
Might be time for some tough love!
great video bro
Thanks man 🙏
Yes! Speaking the truth scott! Your the man.

i've kinda come up with the hypothesis that fear is the only thing that gives these people power. you speak your mind, what are they gonna do? boycott your channel, spread word to their friends to boycott? they don't come here already anyway. they could affect advertising, buy that comes right back to it. advertisers would be afraid of nothing. the people who are upset weren't going to come here anyway, and the people who use the information will. same thing goes for anything. some restaurant triggers people with some viral video. are the people complaining on the internet from Maine or Missouri really going to have a tangible effect on a restaurant in Arizona?
Truth!!
Nothing but facts here!
Keepin' it real, G👊
More true improvement and lifting our peers up, less conformism disguised by the -phobic word of the day.

Alan to Roberts said it best, she looks like a genie coming out of 2 lamps.
Savage! 😅
I am fatphoboc and proud.
Did you see Bill Burr on Conan O'Brien's podcast recently?
"All these fat people crying because they can't stop eating cookies. You know most of the world is starving?"
Man, big facts!
The video I’ve been waiting for!!
