Bison will be Top5 once his CA has the horse trampling over you while he does the "Word" stance
The one thing I really dislike about this Bison - aside from Scissors being motion which screws with years of muscle memory - is that his Head Press doesn't work properly. Horizontal range is too low, the jump is slow, and being force to dive straight down before attacking makes it even slower. I used to use Head Press as part of my mid-range pressure but now it just gets me killed because it has no horizontal reach. Pretty much just use Devil Reverse only.
That was weird to me too, but stomp is designed to be more of an oki tool than a neutral one in this game. It would be busted otherwise with how you can get crossups with it too.
Bison's been my main in every game he's been in since SF2:CE.
He's my boy, good or bad. I even played him in Alpha 3 and the VS games including SVC where he's really not that good.
I'm glad he's back, I'm glad he's fun and looks cool.
I honestly don't mind the Costume 2 cos I love the goofy villain look, that's why I liked him to start with tbh.

Bison is good but people are reaching with top tier because of bicycle kick. He can be mauled by quite a few characters and has no way out of the corner. I definitely put him in high A tier. The point is thank god he's strong because it changes the meta of seeing just Ken's and Luke. That was really pathetic to see for a whole year straight.
Ken's still too prevalent if you ask me
Evo was fine. U can see how the meta shifting in the tournament space.

1,000,000% agree with Brian. He was my fastest road to Master character so far, and his offense and rush down and set play is probably top 5 but his defense is bottom 5. He gets completely mauled lol
top 5 is a revolving door of like 10 characters.
This. But my theory has always been if your character matches the mechanics down to a T. Then they're the best in the game.
All I can say is that, as a Ryu main, everytime I face a Bison it feels I gotta be 3 times as good just to win. Bison has like 4 moves that allow him to skip neutral in the most bull**** of ways...
he's busted fr, and mains are just downplaying it so he wont get the nerfs he needs
Then you arent playing Ryu correctly if you trying 3 times as hard. Work on your neutral, and know your frame data. There is a lot of opportunities for Ryu in that match, and its Bison who is trying hard because everything Bison can initiate with can easily get shut down by a Ryu thats ready. Stop letting Bisons steal turns, become more aggressive.

Throw more Hadoukens. Seriously. Bison has trouble navigating a Hadouken storm at mid/close range.

Old school costume is sick dude. I hope costume 3 has elements of both of the costumes. Like parts of his sleeve is blown off so you can see his arm and face light up with psycho power better than you can in the old school version.
His costume 1 is already reminiscent of his OG design, I hope the third is something completely different. Though, the idea is nice 👍🏾
Bison feels like the team testing "what if we make someone without reversal super strong" especially since they have a boss character to ease the news of broken dlc character and being a 2step.

When Bison’s on a roll, he is snowballing. He’a super strong with a simple two-step game plan and plus frames. But his simplicity and slower anti-air can make him inconsistent in some MUs.
Scissors not being charge has to be thanks to modern schemes, since he has crusher, can't have 2 charges on the same direction, but different punch\kick.
I don't know why people continue to care so much about tiers to argue with people. Clearly nobody has a definitive answer. Top players were saying Ryu was top 5 and we all know objectively that's not true. There are too many variables at play-- online/offline, tournament viable, modern/classic, online stats, tournament stats, evolving meta. There is no definitive answer and also some of these pro players really don't know what they're talking about. No reason to argue over this, healthy discussions are where it's at.

@@plannedtuna8293 There was a tier list talk video recently and a couple of players mentioned him being there. Either big bird or angry bird I forget which one but it was more than one. Mc mura even made a tier list effectively putting him there or close to it.

Bison's classic look still looks good to me. But nearly every SF6 default is more interesting anyway, so I get the preference.
Top 5 are Rashid, Cammy, Ed, Ken, Akuma.
Because they have fast buttons that can interrupt, dp, and fast walk speed to pressure/shimmy. They also all have a gimmick they can use to mix

@@lordanzu8763Gief gets buffed and people pretend he's top 5 lol, they clearly didn't watch Itazan fight that Jamie at Evo or see Oil King do nothing but backdash fireball to beat him. His matchup spread is still just as bad as it was before the patch it's just that they overtuned his drive chip damage so people wanna focus on Gief and pretend like other characters (M.Bison and Ken) aren't doing the same thing except they have a lot more tools than Gief.
Also yeah trying to say Ken and Akuma should be bumped out of top 5 for GIEF is outrageous lol, Bison Ken and Akuma are everywhere. People are just pretending Gief is top tier so he gets gutted, Japan always had Gief in top 5 throughout the entirety of SFV even though nobody played him and he was obviously very weak.

15:10 In USF4, EX Scissors went through regular fireballs and Psycho Crusher always lost to them. Weird how that's flipped
We all admitted and discussed the fact that Luke at the end of SFV was intentionally busted to sell something.
The case is the same here, (though less egregiously) but so few people can admit it.
Bison is intentionally overtuned to sell a character pack of which he is the only character available, and half the pack comes out next year.
There has to be a reward for buying the character pack now.
That reward is an overturned fan favorite, with a horse and movie references.
The dude is a mishmash of nerfed things or tools from nerfed characters.
He has Deejay's drive rush, Honda's headbutt, Zangief's nerfed medium kick, and on and on.
Mine > Psycho Crusher is literally Condor Wind > Condor Spire, but with less investment required in the neutral, and more reward on hit.

The skibidi bop drive rush is crazy. He runs like he wants you dead expeditiously.
I learnt to stop trusting Brian F a year ago, when he used to say; and to paraphrase, 'people are going in on JP, but people are REALLY silent about Guile'. Not only was he deflecting attacks regarding his main, but attacking Guile, who's worst matchup is/was, JP.
God forbid someone doesn't talk shit about their main and disses on their worst match up, right?
I don't hate the guy or anything he seems cool but he is wild when it comes to downplaying his main. Probably the worst I've seen from any of the more known SF content creators. Back when every tourney had a million JPs he was trying to convince us all JP wasn't OD lmao.

I’m a diamond with ryu and akuma, and I run into bison time to time and he’s not to hard to deal with if you understand how he works. Once he gets knocked down he’s at a big disadvantage, and if he doesn’t have mine planted he’s cautious as hell. Once he gets the kind it’s a different game, but with the downsides to him I feel he’s fair overall. Like Aki is strong before the poison and just becomes scarier, bison has to get that line to get scary
This bison is a mix of sf4, sf5, and CVS2. Having an overhead really made his mix-up game dangerous. In my opinion, this is the second best version after CVS2

Honestly, I finally got to gold 2 because of Bison. I understand his weaknesses, but any character that can shut down the fireball drive rush meta is good in my opinion.

As someone who mained him in V, that cHP is **SO** much better as an anti-air that I'm feeling invincible. lmao
I'm honestly having less sucess with Psycho Crusher as an anti-air than just using that button or Drive Rush cHP to beat neutral jumps. PC gets stuffed all the time.
Bison/Akuma make me wonder why Season 2 implemented damage scalling on the vanilla cast (except the likes of Marissa or Gief). When the guest final boss is more cringe than the current final boss... Houston, we have a problem.
I'm around diamond ranked but i try to play sets rather than ranked. Bison I don't think is every other match as much as when he was released but I think in higher ranks you may see him more. Super strong character , I try not to play tilted against him because he's very obnoxious but he's got a really strong kit

Lol today i put the controller down in the 3rd match. I just got bored of trying to get out of it. If i get plus to death or have to chase Luke across the screen or have to play is Ken gonna high or low. Controller down 😂
I think people mean "would i not be surprised if this character won a major solo or w/a pocket for 1-2 MUs" when they say "top 5"
I'm about to pick up Bison! I've never cared for him before, but his new Undertaker Bison is so good to me
Guess the topic of top one is still debatable but a character with no bad match ups, safe reads, anti zoning, one of the best offense and neutral, drains the opponent's meter like a vacuum and the highest damage is a top 5 characteristic. The simple fact that he has no bad match ups is so huge and his safe and high damage gameplay with strong buttons is literally a quality that made Luke top 1 last season. Sure his defence is lacking which does indeed blurrs his position in top 1 but top 5 is in the bag.

ED and AKI were magically buffed to high tier when Capcom really need to sell Season 1 passes along with Akuma. It's so blatantly obvious. Fuck these new fighting games. Its like when First person shooters turned fully into capitalist shit when when PUBG and Fortnite came out.

This comment is not about game balance, but I just find it lame that we got Bison this early. If they wanted to bring him back that's cool but at least wait some more. We're also getting 2 SNK characters this year lol.
There's some far cooler characters that could've came back instead. I want the real big bad, Gill, back again. Isn't SF6 supposed to be a continuation of SF3?

Most people would agree on most of these being top 5. Guile, Zangief, and Akuma are few and far between despite what people think of them

People starting to realize that Zangief is the most fun character to play. The problem with Bison is the fucking spammers. No One pays attention to the defense and plays carefully.
Bison got top 5 at evo on a malfunctioning controller.
He's easy top 3 and since he requires the IQ of curdled cheese to play he's functionally top 1 for the vast majority of the player base.
There is nobody in SF6 that requires a high iq to play at the highest level. No character is winning at the highest level of play because of their difficulty the only thing that matters for a character's results is the overall strength of the character.

I'd wager ~90% of people who complain about Bison haven't bothered to learn the matchup. He's not as good as people make him out to be.
Personally I know the matchup but it’s just so bothersome to play against him. And there’s so many that picked him up.

Scissors is good. But its not super safe. The reason pro players dont use it/spam it is because of how easy it is to punish, and the most used characters right now, Cammy, Akuma, Ed, can punish it for free and for a character with little to no defense, he cant afford to be getting punished for free.

The persepective from someone who is plainly "just not that bad" at the game (me), sitting in diamond... is that Bison is fucking unfair and boring to play against.
Too many stuff from the game's main mechanics force you to play the way bison likes to play... and if you ever whiff his wombo combo takes simply too much life.
He seems like a very low risk high reward character that wants to scramble (touch everything) in case he gets to be ahead you will lose at least a third of your life while he carries you half a screen in to the border to start betting what comes next.
VERY BORING TO PLAY AGAINST and for that I only play Bo1s against Bisons.
Now, you may call me "just bad" "get good" and It would be fair, but I reallllllly fucking hate Bison.
I don't think he's TOO strong, but definitely boring to play against, he's like a reverse guile, downbacks all game doing hard to punish things except he moves forwards instead of backwards, to me the problem is if he messes up his scissor kicks spacing, the best punish you can get is off a jab and he will be so far that it will be a jab into a special at best, you just have to keep waiting for him to mess up or to be in the corner before you're allowed to play against him, ex psycho crusher is also WAYYYY too good, now THAT is a broken move in my opinion.
Bison clearly broken. But obviously that was an intentional dlc decision. They'll release the real Bison that they've been saving since before launch when they release Terry. Then Terry will probably be the broken char. Gotta get those dlc sales.
It's been happening for more than a decade, but people still act shocked whenever overturned DLC characters are released.

Nah I think Terry safely lands in A tier if he plays like he always does. And I hope Akuma and Bison is the last of the busted DLC before Sagat. Cuz I know he bout to be busted.
@@PoojaMan64those two characters also needed time to develop, people were too quick to say they were bad! Aki got insane buffs, Ed pretty much stayed the same but Momochi helped everyone figure out the character at an optimal level, it was always very obvious that a lot of people didn't have Ed matchup experience at EVO lol.
I hope they release more characters like Sim, Aki, Ed and Rashid... it's very satisfying actually having to learn so many things for different matchups instead of having the exact same game plan for everything.

Bison has the best offense of the game, but he has the worst defense as well, this is why he is not an S tier character.
Its not possible to be consistent enough.
But he doesn't have the worst defense his level 1 super alone gives him a better defensive option than Zangief Dhalsim Marisa etc

Marisa, Dhalsim and Zangief at least have a lvl 2 that its true reversal.
@@vini1249 his level 1 super is 8 frames faster than Zangiefs level 2 and Dhalsims level 2 loses to all meaty low attacks.
It's not even close his defensive options are vastly better than multiple characters.
It took me one day of play to get him to master and zero times was I meaningfully held back by his defensive options. Sure meaty jab can in theory bait it but again heavy sweep beats Dhalsims level 2 even lol and meaty mediums beat Giefs 2 on some characters.
Marisa is just straight up worse bison. He can do everything she can do better other than if she blows twice his super bar her 2 is a frame faster than bisons 1.

Get Master is not difficult with anyone if you know how to play fundamentals. In a competitive lvl, his defense is bad, he only has lvl 3 as a true reversal, so he is not comparable with top tier characters
