Do not put the screws back in the bottom cover after SSD install, wait till you power it on and find out everything is working first. Otherwise you
have to pull all the screws out again and that's a waste of time.

Excellent tutorial, thank you! I just reset my Mac Book Pro ( late 2013) to manufacture setting and installed OS Catalina. Question: can I install new SSD and then download OS Catalina into the new SSD that I just replaced? Or I have to do any other step?

After you have installed it, just restore the system from the backup.

great video i learned a ton from this.
I have the same computer My question is what is the best Curved monitors in the 30 inch plus range to pair with this type of mac for the best display. I had a Samsung 32-inch Curved Full HD Monitor in White. It was really bad, it had glare issues and the display was extra large on the monitor. I tried adjusting the ( display setting on the mac computer and the samsung monitor. But to no avail) , and it made my eyes hurt.

Finding screwdrivers for Macbook Pro is a challenge. Did you use the same screwdriver for both SSD and opening the Macbook? Is it Pentalobe P5?

Can you just buy the drive only if you don’t need to back up any data?

How do you do think if we’re starting from scratch & not from a Time Machine backup. My computer is wiped but when I go to install a fresh osx, no disc pops up. I’m so confused

Hi I followed yr advice on my 2014 retina but no luck at al.
I have correct adapter with my 2tb intel 660p and when I eventually get to utilities screen I select time machine..
    Then it does nothing.
Do I need to format the intel ssd ? With disk utility?

Is it possible to upgrade to 4TB??

Maybe. Hypothetically. I've read a lot on this, and so far I've seen people go for 1 or 2 TB reporting success. I just ordered a Samsung 970 Evo

Could somone comment on the size of screw driver for the hard drive. Opening the case is a p5 (5-Point Pentalobe), not sure what to use for the hard drive.

might be proprietary Apple brand, but on mine it’s built by Samsung? video kinda vague, but he does say to buy a similar drive.

FYI. Mine is a 2015 15”. It prompted me to sign into my Wi-Fi before it would start the internet recovery.

You can use an external harddrive such as a USB flash drive for your time machine back up

Do you think I can upgrade the RAM for this model?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013)

No, the ram is welded into the MacBook on these later models. You will damage it if you try.
