Two people makes it a lot easier to put the annex/awning up. Feeding the rope through the sail track so that it comes out the end rather than through the groove also helps. Every 12 months or so I spray a bit of silicon spray into the sail track. I've found this make it a lot easier to feed the rope and canvas through.
Hi Rob... I'm looking at getting avan cruiseliner, but... Bloody hell they are alot $$ even 2nd hand... I have to admit they are well kitted out for what you get... Great video Rob & keep an eye out for me... Rob
I just tried this with a cruiseliner I bought last week. I found it impossible to thread the rope and canvas on my own. Then I got a neighbour to help by pulling on the rope as I tried to feed the canvas covered part of the rope into the keeper channel. It was extremely difficult to feed, and I soon gave up. I'll ditch that awning, and perhaps buy a free-standing gazebo that I can erect by myself.
Hi guys would you know the name of the awning manufacturer. I see there that it came with the van but just thought it may have a name on it that we can look up and get a price. Looks like one of the easier type of awning to erect. Others seem to take forever. Also did you have to apply the velcro or was it already on the van. Thanks in advance and much appreciated 😊
Good vid The one thing I don't like about Aliners is the awnings predicament. If the awning takes longer to set up than the camper is it worth it, not for me. Cheers
@@AussieAliner I am sure if some engineering mind out there focused their design lens on this, a faster solution for this. I am thinking personally one of those newer awnings with no lower support arms attached to the lower half of the box of the trailer (assuming some strong points to attach to) to some hefty aluminum lifting struts that would lift like a popup maybe lifted by some actuators. Than a flap piece you flop over from the awning and to cover the open points on the Aroof and just attach with Velcro - might need the assist from a ladder but those telescopic ladders are small enough to bring I am trying to talk my wife into an Aliner for easier towing and a good easy awning system is the only thing stopping me from pursuing it further. Cheers
What is the name of the music piece you are playing while you are closing the roof and start threading the awining? I have checked all the ones from 126ers but I can't find it. Thanks
Thanks, great video - I had always wondered if I was the only one that struggled with getting the roof back up after fitting the awning!! Cheers
Great video, we just bought our Aliner, so good to see how it all works.
Cool! Good luck and safe travels
Thanks for the video. We have an Avan Cruiser and annex and getting ready to do our first road trip as we have just both retired.

Well done Rob! Looks like you needed to have some more Weet-Bix the day you had to lift the roof.
Great Awning!

That one is actually a song called "Yard Sale" by Silent Partner
@@AussieAliner Thank you. To the rithm of that music it is easier to push the awning up. Ha Ha.
Who made this for you?
Sorry for the late reply, it was supplied by Avan as part of the deal when i bought it.
