I'm 69 yrs old and paid over $300 to see them in L.A., CA. I got to stand right in front of the stage in a tight crowd and could almost see the pores of their perfect skin! It was totally worth it!!

K-Pop dancers moves are rooted in J-Pop culture, specially the kawaii/moe type of dancing, which they fused with american "sexy pop dance moves". Everyone knows K-pop is heavily influenced by a mix of J-Pop and American/Brittish Pop, hence why they make dozens of mostly american song covers, specially the older ones.
Hell, everything in Korea is heavily influenced by Japanese culture, same goes for China and most of the East and SE Asia. A good example would be "vtubers" which are content creators/streamers who use a Vocaloid-like avatar (3D virtual anime style character), which the japanese created and popularized, and now chinese, indonesian, filipino, etc, are coming up with them as well, and there is even a production group doing castings for those countries.
South Korea barely has anything other than the food and ancient culture of their own.
Not a Korean hater btw, i'm just interested in asian culture, mostly Japan Korea and China.

Falcon Windblade well, to be fair, its always been that way. a bit dry and overdone. one beat sells well, so you got a solid decade of everyone copying that one sound and do some variations, voila, you got a entire generation of pop music. sometimes man generations (see the Rhianna / Beyonce style pop music..been the same stuff since the early 90s). Not a bad thing, just a fully saturated thing, so when a new type of sound comes, it is confusing to many...but it catches on eventually.
Babymetal may be pushing a new beat (That eventually will become a major genre and rehashed a thousand times)..or this may be a unique one off band...either way, they rock.
Rob Xsiq Lucky for everyone, i guess, that Japan ain't the west. despite the general social culture being a conformist & resistant-to-change one, Japanese people are surprising experimental when it comes to music, & the mass are generally more open to new sounds than just sticking to ones they're familiar with. i guess that's why unlike the west, where mainstream & non-mainstream has a clear line between them, Japan's line between what's mainstream & what's not, are awfully blur.
Falcon Windblade Japan is certainly a lot more experimental, yes. I think it has to do with such a naturally stuffy environment for most aspects of life will overcompensate in creative endeavors...for instance, harajuku girls.
The blissful ignorance and moronic attitudes of some people makes me what to put my fist through my laptop screen sometimes. The inability to recognize anything but 'Justin Bieber' and 'Taylor Swift' types as artists (and I use that term liberally) is absolutely astounding. Bands like Babymetal are at the precipice of what new music is all about these days; fusing genres. Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised, but it just feels incredibly aggravating and honestly disappointing to see this is what we have to look forward to in America's youth: bigotry and a lack of imagination. I am of course not speaking for the entirety of today's rising generation, but it's what I find so often these days it makes me sick. Still, Babymetal are awesome, ESPECIALLY live!

BM is not a typical idol group (or typical metal group for that matter) as I'm sure you're aware, so still is for a niche market, rather than for a well established market that exist for the 48's and 46's type of idols.
BM is having a huge impact in Japan (and overseas), not as others household groups level, but still an important one. Its popularity is on a healthy growth trend but it will take some years until it is a worldwide recognised name.

I’m not too huge a fan of Babymetal but the girls reacting just were being way too close minded. Yes, people pay to see them in concert. People probably would say the same about the artists those girls listen to as well. Like really? Also, BABYMETAL acutally said in "BABYMETAL reacts to RUclipsrs React to BABYMETAL" (under the react channel) that they actually didn’t start listening and even liking metal until after the band was formed - in fact they themselves didn’t like it but grew fond of it later. Also, when you are pronouncing the word “kawaii”, you need to emphasize the second “i” in the word, otherwise it becomes the word “kowai” which means scary.

I´m a Babymetal fan and Gimme Choko is one of my least favourites. Headbangya would be a better choice.

The crowds at other concerts seem dead to me when compared to BABYMETAL crowds. I’ve already paid hundreds of bucks to see them live and I don’t regret it one bit. The three best nights of my life.

Actually, my daughter is only 21 months and she absolutely loves Road of Resistance. When i'm sitting in front of my computer and she even remotely sees the youtube-suggestion of "Road of Resistance - live in Japan", she totally freaks out and beggs me in her baby-like language (again: 21 months of age ^^) to play the whole 8 minutes of the song. It's so cute, funnily not annoying for one second and i gladly fulfill her wish every time - because Babymetal f*cking owns!

I'm surprised none of the girls were open-minded. You'd think they'd be inspired by these powerful girls who have the confidence to leap outside the box. I guess imma pack up my expectations.
Ummm...fyi...they have been in america and they have gone over great. They actually have a huge fanbase here. Along with other Japanese bands like Band-Maid...Wagakki Band...Doll Boxx..Aldious...Destrose...etc

just because the music is not to your liking doesn't make it unbelievable that they are so famous . and to some people the type of music you like is a "torture". Ps. Kawaii is a Japanese word to describe cute. the music might not be to your liking but they are definitely cute. ( i am not hatting, i am simply expressing my opinion )

Went to there concert in Atlanta Tennessee with my best friend. We're 20 and it was awesome. The fans were jumping so much that the building was shacking. Youngest person there was probably 4 and the oldest was 60 or older.
"People actually pay to see them?!?" No, they give concerts for free. That's why they're famous.
