Thanks for coming out with a field demo of the Cat85. You may be one of the first to do so. The RUclips search doesn’t have yours yet. Your video was most helpful. My Cat85 came today. Looking forward to using it. Hope you post more on your experiences using it. Appreciate your help.

Great video, thanks for the review. I bought this combustion analyzer last week and started using it this week. It blows away the UEI version that my company provided. It feels like it is built very well. Thanks for explaining the ambient air purge when you turn it on. I have been using the ambient air in the room. Mine is primarily used for #2 Oil as I work for an oil company. As tune-up season is starting to ramp up I actually look forward to performing combustion analysis. I want to test the realtime changes as I make adjustments to the equipment. Hopefully Fieldpiece will start rolling out the sensors that are field replaceable within the next four years before mine are out of useful life.

I got this as well roughly a month ago. within 2 weeks of having it i was reading 0 O2. Messed with the seating of the sensors and no luck. Called tech support and they were excited to hear what was going on because of how new the equipment is and wanted to get their hands on it. Such a great tool i loved it and cant wait to get mine back

It does suck that you send to send it in and be left with nothing. If i spend 1700-$2000 for an analyzer, i expect to have it in hand for several years before sending it out

Someone was telling me the new fieldpiece analyzers don’t read below 20ppm they just say 0 when below that. Do you know if that is true? I would hope they have a 1 ppm resolution? I know I saw u using it thought maybe u knew.

@@drohvac4583 that's false. I just got mine back roughly 2 weeks ago and have had several readings below 20ppm. Fieldpiece actually informed me there was something wrong internally with my old one.

I am the first tech at our company to get one of these analyzers as we slowly replace our older UEIs.
mine reads 0% 02 after using it for 1 week. Even when it was "working" many of the readings it displayed were not realistic. The draft also has always danced around and steadily climbs even when its sitting in a still and empty room. It picks up false CO readings sitting in an empty room. I don't like that I can't customize what is displayed on the combustion screen. For example I can't have it display gas pressure on the same screen as the combustion readings.
I am very disappointed.... Hopefully Fieldpiece can get this resolved quickly and permanently or we will have to purchase something different for the rest of the crew.

Can you expand why the 2 CO readings go to Zero (if you print at that time you will also get zero for the 2 CO readings) in your video why you are still testing. At what time are we ready during a test to press (Save All) go to report and print? It would be helpful if yourself, Fieldpiece or someone would present another video with the full field sequence of operation. Your first video was most helpful, but some of us need more. Thank you

What is the maximum resolution on the sensors? Is it 10k ppm or more for setting combustion? Does it calculate Nox I looked everywhere and can't find this info anywhere. They call this commercial grade but what I am seeing it this device is a high end residential tool because I would be worried to balance a commercial boiler with it and the fact that it won't read below 20ppm is ridiculous

Great video. I actually have this tool and it's good but has room for improvement. They need to give the option to change from 24hr to 12hr clock. As well as have more ability to change the setting on the app. Also it would be nice to be able to set ranges for custom fuels rather than just the CO2. But for the price it could atleast come with the tubing and connectors for checking gas pressure. But my biggest issue is the case. I plan on replacing it with something like a Pelican Case. Something rigid that will keep the device more secure that the current case. The current case has basically no padding and has no straps to strap the device in so if it falls it just moves around inside the case too much even if it's in the specific pouch. I hope the upgrade the connector for the sensor to something metal because the plastic feels really cheap to me. But the screen is great and it has a huge potential to be great. Just needs so tweeks. But great video.

As close to the inducer blower wheel as possible without hitting the wheel with the probe. Once you’ve got it in there, slightly move it around until you get the most consistent readings. The. Do you testing and analyzing from there.

Don't buy this tool. I'm returning mine it read 8 ppm out of the box, after playing with it it went to 0 ppm. I measured my water heater went back to 8 ppm. After some time it went back to 0 ppm. I gave the probe a nitrogen bath did not change from 8 ppm CO, even though O2 fell to 0 as expected. Looks like there was a reason for not going below 20 ppm CO. This prevents you from using the tool to measure ambient CO levels.
Something else to consider it is rated to 752°F my water heater was running 650°F.

Not sure why they didn't make a version without a screen. If you have joblink you don't really need it. Just like the joblink probes... They would sell a ton more if they made a cat85 or 45 without a screen for a bunch less.

Probably if companies like to commission installs and staple the report to the install manual jacket for inspectors. Good just to leave a trail of good testing practices just in case inspectors or other companies look at equipment that you or your company installed. Just my best guess for the product choice from fieldpiece.
