I smile when I see you have chosen to share another part of your life with us. A helpful hint about removing stickers or labels from surfaces., rub a bit of butter or grease on the label. The oil will soften the adhesive making the label easy to remove. A second application will soften the remains adhesive. a ta sante’ PB

angelica, my dear to clean old varnish off a good thing is is liquid stripper.. put it on with a brush and in about an hour or so all old paint and varnish will bubble right up and then you can take razor blade or some flat blade and scrap it right off. it does not effect wood at all just the old paint and varnish. And the covering you used to cover it up.. we call them tarps. we have them in cloth and plastic.. for your Application i would use a plastic one.. but hey yours seems to work fine. And your electric dryer our name for them is a dehydrator. Does the same thing sucks out all the moisture so you can store the product like your mushrooms. i do apples and other things here with one... rehydrate later make them into pies.
