    I just bought a 2015 Mazda6 Atenza (top of the line here in Australia with the radar cruise control) with the updated interior with MZD Connect (GJ Series 2) and loved it so much! I went from a 2012 Mercedes C250 1.8L Turbocharged RWD but so far the Mazda6 feels super refined on the road. Love it, and glad to see other specs of Mazda6 around the world

    Posting from the future here, time traveler from the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty four. I'm happy to tell everyone Mazda now has a straight 6, 8 speed trans (sorry, manual is only for the Miata these days) AND a rear wheel drive platform!😎🤘 The bad news is all of that goodness resides under a large SUV and according to the Mazda engineers it was designed specifically for that use and would be hard to retrofit in a low slung sedan or lift back. However all is not lost, there are talks of a new Mazda 6, and it will get the 8 speed trans for sure, maybe the straight 6 (as a hybrid) but not sure it will be on a RWD platform. AWD is all but a certainty since all Mazda's but the Miata either have AWD standard or as an option (Mazda 3) but if that's the case then there will be no reason to put the RWD platform under the new 6😢 I guess a good compromise would be to have some sort of torque proportioning system similar to the GR Corolla, but by all accounts even using the 30/70 (front/rear) doesnt really transform the GR Corolla into a rear drive biased car. Oh well, as long as the new 6 has the straight 6 engine and is pretty nice to drive I'll be happy...and think about trading in my 2021 Mazda 3 turbo hatch. (If the new 6 is a liftback I will go from "think about it" to almost certainty)

    Looks like the 2022 Mazda 6 will address a lot of your criticisms of the current model with rear wheel drive and a six cylinder/hybrid combo power plant, so that car should make you a very happy camper. Looking forward to your thoughts on that car when its released. Just recently I took delivery of a 2020 Mazda 6 wagon (ex demo) here in Australia and its just a terrific daily driver and with the 2018 updates its such a refined and well equipped package now. The value for money equation in the touring trim that they sell here (second from bottom) is just phenomenal. Its replacing our 2012 Mazda 6 wagon that has been an excellent vehicle as well and is being handed down to our son as his first car. Mazda know how to build really good cars.

      Time traveler from 2024 here, there is no 2022 Mazda 6 in North America, and the 2022's in other countries are virtually the same as the 2018-21 models. I'm still holding out hope for a new 6 with the straight 6 engine...even if Mazda doesn't have the cojones to put their RWD platform underneath it. I'm not getting my hopes up for that since Mazda knows the average mid-sized sedan buyer doesn't know how to properly drive a RWD car unless they're coming from a BMW or Merc...and even those companies have dulled the driving feel with far too many safety nannies. We'll see, but my bet is FWD with optional AWD like the current Mazda 3, and maybe even sharing that platform with a stretched wheelbase.😢

    I come from a E90 325i, F10 M550D, E60 530i, F11 535D and now G20 330i.
    Ever since I sold my E60 530i I am trying to find that level of connection to the car, and honestly F10/F11 were just too numb. I thought the G20 would be different, being a 3 series, and although it drives Sporty, it is numb as well.
    I am now in the question, to find a E60 530i manual (there arent many!!!) or to go with the Mazda 6 2.0 manual. The E60 would be already too old and I have mixed feelings if it would be safe to put a family in... So maybe the Mazda being newer can fulfill the safe aspect? Still, I'm afraid of losing the E60 looks and dynamics...
    Care to toss some light in here? Thanks for the great Video!

      I feel your dilemma, as I have had similar internal debates myself. I have driven the Mazda 6 manual as well, and it has that typical Mazda manual transmission feel (light clutch, high friction point, etc.). It’s actually a bit tricker to drive than a BMW manual but fun nonetheless. As you mentioned, it will be difficult to find an E60 530i with a manual, and if you do find one, it will either demand a high premium if it’s in great shape or it will need work to be refreshed. At the end of the day, it will be almost a 20 year old car. It would probably make more sense to go with the Mazda 6 as your family car. It will be newer, more reliable, less costly to maintain, and more fuel efficient. Although it does not have RWD and is not as fast as an E60 530i, it’s just a simpler and lighter car which makes it easy to drive around town. Driving a slower car fast while still being within or close to speed limits is hard to beat on roads when it comes to hanging fun. You may want to consider getting a newer, reliable daily driver like a Mazda 6 and then spend money on a dedicated fun car such as a Miata, a BMW Z3 or Z4, or something along those lines. You can buy those with high mileage because you won’t drive them every day and will have a reliable daily driver. Keep me posted on what you decide to do.

    You have the exact same taste in cars as me, considering buying my next car and my 2 options are e92 328i and mazda 6 exactly 2016 model since they restyled the interior to my likings. Still having a huge headache which one to chose since it's a car I want to keep for a long term.

    • @zaidimaiirkitkas

      I understand that these cars are fairly different, but which one you would chose if you could keep only one of these and why? Thanks in advance!

    • @GogoMotoring
      @GogoMotoring  4 года назад +3

      @@zaidimaiirkitkas Thank you for watching the videos and your comments, Mariukas. For me, the answer to your question would primarily come down to finances. The Mazda 6 is a newer car and is cheaper to maintain than an e92 328i. If money were tight and I needed a reliable, affordable, easy to live with mode of transportation, I would probably go with the Mazda 6. It would probably cost a bit more than an e92 328i up front, but it being a newer car and cheaper to maintain (unless you are good at fixing cars yourself) would make up for that additional front-end cost. If money were not an issue and you wouldn't be put in a bad financial position if you had to spend $1,000 + on unexpected repairs or new tires (you can't rotate the rear tires with the front tires if the 328i comes equipped with the sport package, which shortens the life of the tires), I would buy the e92 328i. It's more fun to drive than the Mazda 6 and is that type of analog car that is no longer being produced, so buy it while you still can. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more videos!

    Well, I can honestly say it's way better than a BMW.. I've had a BMW 5 E60 and and G30. When i crashed my G30 last september, I bought a 2018 Mazda 6 SkyActive 194 Signature. I'm not saying BMW is bad, not at all, but if I had known the Mazda 6 was as good as it is, 4 years ago, I wouldn't have bought the G30. My G30 was a diesel with 230 hp and 500Nm of torque, which is a big difference with the Mazda (194 hp and 260Nm of torque), but still... I prefer my Mazda. A turbo with 230hp and 400Nm would have been better but hey... it is what it is.. I'm enjoying it more than my BMW's, so that's what matters.

    Is there a huge difference between atenza and mazda 6

    • @GogoMotoring
      @GogoMotoring  6 месяцев назад

      We do not have the Atenza in the United States, but I believe they are the same car with different names in different markets. In terms of the driving dynamics, assuming it's the same engine (NA vs. Turbo) and same layout (FWD vs. RWD), they are probably identical.
