Because of this video me and my friend started a band and now (a few months later) we are doing gigs every other night at pubs around town and we're a real hit. We open up our concerts with a cover of "School" by nirvana before going into some of our own stuff

More inspirational. I’m 50. I’ve had a guitar since I was a teenage boy into pop and then metal; I was in a band briefly but I’ve barely played with another person in 30 years. Here’s my question: AM I Too Old?
Matthew Collis-Long You’re never too old. Ultimately it’s just about being marketable which is totally subjective. Sure it’s difficult to imagine a bunch of unknown 50 year olds forming a new band that takes over the planet. But it’s your job to prove the world needs it. Very challenging (it’s hard enough when you’re 23) but not impossible.
Hell nah dude. Im about to be 54 and im recruiting for my band. All originals. Joints hurt, work sucks, rent is due but ive had a lot of good feedback, especially from my studio guy and hes about 65. He likes my stuff, because it still has a 1950'/Grunge feel. SOmeone once said Elvis+Nirvana. Ill take that, lol. think the only reason a 50+ year old band would be hard to take over the world is because we dont want to tour everynight in a new city, lol. Other than that its totally possible! Im having a hard time finding drummers but this video was real helpful. I was about to upload some of our jam sessions but the host is right, dont put it out until its the best you want. Otherwise people say meh and then expect more but its a train that once you start chugging, you gotta keep going. Matter of fact, i had some demo tracks here on you tube im gonna take down until i get the polished versions. Long story short Hell nah 50 aint too old!! I _wish_ i was 50 young man! It would give me a few more years but even now i know i can get the job done. Ill quit once i cant get the job done. Thats a long way off for both of us! Good luck bro!
This is exactly what I needed. I'm looking to create a garage rock styled band and have been writing / recording all the parts myself. I record all guitars and vox but drum machine in Logic Pro is handy haha. I'll be moving to the city in about 6 months, so this is nice to know that I can create... then, assemble. Thank you!
I watch this whole thing and did the exact opposite, now my band is tour and just got sign to subpop and touring with kurt cobain and the nirvana Doodoo fart :)

Not at all! My granddad is out gigging 3 times a week in his jazz band, he's 70 odd, he joined his band about 5 years ago. It's never too late 😁

Excellent! I'm really pleased you find this helpful and hope that you pursued the band project, sounds great!
Just found this video! Great resource!
I hope it helps Mat!
That book is $70. Holy shit

you, sir, are one epic motivator :)
This is really helpful thanks dude 🤘
Apparently drummers are actually kinda rare. I guess if my current band falls apart I should have an easy in with another group lol
Absolutely! Lots of bands in need of a drummer 😃 Best of luck with your current project
Oooooo, the CLOWNZZ sound cool?
All these people on RUclips only care about selling their program or book . Wow
