- Bandcamp's album release listening party may be Bandcamp's most underappreciated feature. I used it on my latest album Domino Effect (Link in the comments) to generate energy and increase album sales. Comment below if you have any questions and be sure to like and subscribe to my channel. -93
Indeed helpful, was wondering what would happen after I click the Listening Party confirmation button, like if it'd be a video chat or just a regular chat.
Handy to see how it looks like, thanks for posting this!
Thanks! Glad the visual was helpful! Bandcamp has a lot of good text descriptions of their features but not enough video content in my opinion. Once you begin the party it will be a regular text chat box.
Thanks!
You are welcome!
Super helpful!
This is helpful, as are the comments. I have a few questions. Apologies if it's blindingly obvious to some, but I'm new to this!
1. Once the Bandcamp form is filled in , saying when it's happening, etc, how long does it take BC to set it up/ to send link/ code... Do they need anything else?
2. Where/ how on BC do people find where to put the link/code to enter the party? Do I just direct them to my artist's page?
3. I want to invite "new people", not only his supporters and followers. How do I do that? Must they have a BC account to join the party?
4. If I click the box for supporter -only chat, do others see the chat but can't comment, or is it seen by supporters only?
5. We can have up to 5 moderators at the party. How do we set that up? Are we given different links for them?
6. Is there a counter that tells us how many are listening?
Many thanks in advance.
Thanks for checking out the video. These are all good questions.
1 They should send you a link within the same day. They definitely send you one a couple days before the event also.
2 The link that is sent will give you all info they need to get in from my memory. This is different than a free album download codes which are very specific.
3 Just share the link to invite non followers in. I believe they only have to be members to leave a review of the album but that is debated online.
4 I did not use the supporters only chat, I wanted to get as much buy-in as possible before purchase to build hype to lead to purchases.
5 I’ve never used the moderator setting that in-depthly.
6 Yes
Good luck putting your first one on. It’s a worthwhile experience for both fans and host.
My party went live, my album was published, but it kept saying "We're preparing the audio and tracklist for your party". Nothing ever happened, and I can't find anything out there as to why this would happen.
I have never heard of this either. I would suggest trying to contact band camp artist support for why that might happen. Is your wifi usually reliable?
now if you want to share the the listening party event...do you copy the link of the preview, invite people to bandcamp to follow, etc?
I think copying the preview link should work. Mine looked like this 93energy.bandcamp.com/merch/domino-effect-release-listening-party
A day or two before the event bandcamp will e-mail you a link for you to make a last minute invite push.
How do you get to this page and when do you load up the album , is it an event or listening party page
Good question. I believe you need to atleast have an album draft saved for you to schedule one. You can schedule a Listening Party for any public album. To get started, you can either click the “+ add” menu in the navigation bar and select an album, or you can click the “schedule listening party” option directly from the album editor

Sorry if i missed this... How do people communicate while the album is playing? Text only? Is there a voice or video option for before or after or in between songs?
Text only is the primary option the Bandcamp gives you for this feature. Not as this point, but I've gotten around it by going live on Facebook at the same time. Just be careful if you are putting your music through other distributors such as distrokid because they may flag it like they did in my case an hour after streaming, claiming copyright on my own music. If you are not going through a traditional distributor and just Bandcamp, the live function on any socials is probably your best workaround. to add in video or audio.
@@93Energyproductions I do use distrokid. Was it the Facebook or Bandcamp usage that got you flagged? And what happened because of that? Distrokid should have their own version of this or allow you to let them know like when you tell your bank you're going on vacation.
What's the best time to set these up for?
I would set it up the day of the album release or as near to that as possible where you might have your most momentum. Am I understanding your question?
