I would have to respectfully disagree with whoever says there is no authentic Mexican food in la. I used to live near several small family owned restaurants and they were no joke. As always, thank you for your wonderful channel! Much love! 😁
I would recommend Pepe’s Tacos located at 4582 S. Centinela ave. But you may also have some luck checking out Olvera st. There’s bound to be a bunch of places there.
LA native here~ Appreciate the list! Los Angeles has a widely diverse population and there are a multitude of ethnic enclaves that reflect that like Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Historic Filipinotown, Little Bangladesh, Thai Town, Koreatown, Olvera Street, Tehrangeles, etc etc. I recommend going in these neighborhoods and finding those little restaurants that give you that authentic, unique culinary experience that really paint the beautiful immigrant-based culture that makes our City :))
In Silverlake/Glendale area, there’s a mini mall with the best Salvadorian food I’ve had, it’s called El Buen Gusto. Order the pupusas, they’re the best. Right next door is an ice cream shop called Wanderlust Creamery with unique flavors from various cultures (ex: Abuelita’s hot chocolate, sticky rice and mango, Japanese Neapolitan, etc) really good ice cream and fun to sample!
I would also be curious to know where the idea that LA doesn't have authentic Mexican food came from. If you were in Omaha, sure, but SoCal is basically an extension of Mexico and the food reflects that. Regardless, thanks for sharing all your eats, trips, and fun! I enjoy it all!
I agree too many family owned restaurants to dismiss Downtown LA off hand? Salvadoran Guatemalan etc. as well as Mexican all represented here in my zipcode. All of Asia represented 5 minutes from my location, And I still prefer to cook at home $30.00-$50.00 typically per meal per couple, so tourists go enjoy!!!
The great Mexican food were ever Mexicans have familys to feed somebody will get a grill tortillas and some meat and sell tacos even in nome Alaska or peterfuks Florida.
Basically regional food haters make comments like that. They'll be like from Texas or something and come to Los Angeles and say that Los Angeles has no real Mexican food. Vice versa you have someone from California go to Texas and say that their Mexican food is not real also. A bunch of haters close-minded haters. They don't really know what the difference is with regional foods.
If you're ever in Los Angeles again, you HAVE to stop at Edoughble Sweet Shop on South Robertson Boulevard! The edible cookie dough there is absolutely incredible, and the employees are super kind. Six out of five stars!
I work at Portos in West Covina! I met your friendin the video a few days after you guys were there! Sad i didnt get to see you guys ive been following and watching for a long time! I hope you all enjoyed your trip to LA and enjoyed Portos! We'd love to see you again if you ever come back!

18:22 Their special sauce is basically Thousand Island salad dressing with a bit of prepared yellow mustard mixed in (Thousand Island is 2 parts mayonnaise, 1 part ketchup, some diced up sweet pickle, and a little of the brine from the pickle. Minced onion and ground black pepper or chili pepper are common, but not essential.)
I live in California and you ate at several places that are on my bucket list. There are 2 In-&-Out Burgers in my town but I rarely go there because there is always a very long line!
So fun to see all the food places you loved in LA! Mindys Mom did such a great job talking about Porto’s! Such a natural! 😊 My hubby says next time you have In and Out to order the fries extra crispy. They are so good!!! Love you and Laurence and look forward to seeing your adventures in Amsterdam! 💖
17:16 I miss In n Out burger 🍔 !!😂 so sad, no In n Out in Japan🇯🇵 ... I used to eat it almost every week when I was a college student in L.A. hopefully they can make it in Japan too, especially in Osaka🤣
Okay, who says you can't find authentic mexican food in LA? I'm mexican american born and raised in LA and have never in my life heard this...because no one says that lol. Los Angeles used to be a part of mexico. Long before others came and stole what wasn't theirs. So, yes, LA absolutely has authentic mexican food! And cielito lindo is iconic. 👍🏼
@@TabiEats yes, this is absolutely untrue. There is authentic Mex food in LA, Bay Area and other cities in California, but there are some dishes that are Tex-Mex like burritos.
I always love watching your travel videos, but it’s even more special seeing you explore LA. Oh wow, and I got to relive this special day with you, Laurence, Mindy’s Mom, Lady Murasaki, and Piper! I live in California and only ate at a few on your show, so I’m excited to try these places out. Thank you! I recommend you try Kogi, too. It’s Korean and taco fusion.
If you’re still in LA, there’s a new donut place that opened up in Little Tokyo called Donastu! Their donuts are amaaaazing! I recommend the creme brulee donut and the Ube donut :P
I live near and often go to eat in Little Tokyo. I have my favorites and more often than not frequent those businesses. Sometimes I will try a different restaurant or a different item on the the menu because there is so much variety and of course one bowl of ramen doesn't taste the same as the restaurant next door let alone a different bowl of ramen on the menu of the same restaurant. Thanks for sharing next time I am in Little Tokyo I will try that doughnut shop👍
Awesome food vlog. Great to see some places I grew up eating at in your list. The tacos you had at Grand Central market have always been amazing. Oh and btw, carnitas are confit different pork cuts.

LA? Not authentic Mexican food?? What!? Lmao it’s as close to authentic anyone that’s not Mexican can get! In fact, LA has some of the best Mexican food, and that’s not just for tacos, but also guisados (mole, barbacoa, etc) and even ceviche! I wish I had known you’d be in LA and I could’ve recommended you the best ceviche and shrimp tacos in LA from my favorite food truck. Anyway, you just needed the traditional corn guy snacks to make it a thorough LA experience! 😂
If you want authentic, good quality and inexpensive Chinese food in L A region, go to Monterey Park or Alhambra. I personal favorite is Chengdu Taste. I am looking for a good ramen place and a good Korean BBQ place in LA area. Any recommendations?
Hey my lovely friends! 😘💕 Thank you so much for doing this video! My family and I will be visiting LA for a few days in November. My husband and I are MAJOR foodies so we will definitely stop at some of those places. Thanks again and take care! 💕
Pro tip - you can get the pink sauce that’s on in n out burgers in packets! It’s called spread, you can put them all over your fries. Next time you’re in LA try a place called Wing Ferno. Literally the best wings you will ever try! :)
I grew up in southern California. I live in Ohio now. The thing i miss the most besides the beach is In&Out. Thank you. I like your channel. I subscribed yesterday.
Double double with "thousand island" dressing. Next time you go to In-n-out, you must try it with the spicy cascabella peppers. They are a must have. I won't eat their burgers without them.
Good start w Porto’s but you gotta show their huge display of baked goods and cakes! You mentioned the potato balls and cheese rolls but should’ve shown them, more popular than their savories.
As a La Native... I wish I had the time to give you a tour of good food around La....because thes places are definitely on the lower end of the totem pole. Except for In-n-out.
You need to come to the Mid West for good Mexican food. Especially if you come to Davenport, IA (in the East Village of Davenport). I'd be happy to show you around. Also I could take you to a local Illinois donut shop that makes Apple Fritters so good they're to kill and die for and then to Stonecold for ice cream.
Hi Shinichi! Thank you for sharing some of your favorite LA food/dessert spots. Makes me miss the West Coast so much. I was born in the San Diego area. 😊❤
Love seeing you sample food joints in my neck of the woods! One of the things I appreciate so much about LA is def the diverse array of yummy eats. DTLA alone has so many great places. Hoping things improve enough for all of us to travel again and enjoy our fav dining hang outs. 🙏🏽 Thanks for all the great content on your channel. Satoshi was missed in this one. 😄 Oh - instead of Panda Express next time try the original Panda Inn in Pasadena. So good!
The sauce on the In n Out burger is russian dressing. Basically ketchup and mayonaise mixed together with some pickle relish. Very old school! Also next time go to Apple Pan for a hamburger. Super basic but delish.
You had a lot of truly good food you need to go to the Original Tommy's Hambergers I was born and raised in California moved to Arizona in 1993 glad you both had fun 🐼
You hit some of my favorites - Porto’s, Bruxies, Pink’s (try the Louisiana Hot), In & Out. Made be miss So Cal. Living in Arizona now. Yes. Make a video at the market. 😋

Yeah I was super surprised when he said that. There are literally dozens of great spots.
I feel like he doesn't do much digging and goes to mostly well known places that can be found in a Buzzfeed article.
Do you remember the names? I've lived her 15 years and still havent found a place?
I would recommend Pepe’s Tacos located at 4582 S. Centinela ave. But you may also have some luck checking out Olvera st. There’s bound to be a bunch of places there.
LA is so big you could spend a decade tracking down good places to eat. Great choices, great video. Maybe you can try King Taco some time.

I grew up in southern California. I live in Ohio now. The thing i miss the most besides the beach is In&Out. Thank you. I like your channel. I subscribed yesterday.
Thank you!
Your favorite food from Los Angeles enjoy yummie
Im glad you included prices on the meals 👌👌👌👌good job Bob
Are you going to the Japan fair in Orange county today?
LA For Life❤️❤️❤️
Glad to see Lawrence is his normal self. Hope he is staying safe with everything going on in hong kong right now!
Colt Gustafson please introduce more Hong Kong 🇭🇰 food
Double double with "thousand island" dressing. Next time you go to In-n-out, you must try it with the spicy cascabella peppers. They are a must have. I won't eat their burgers without them.
Good start w Porto’s but you gotta show their huge display of baked goods and cakes!
You mentioned the potato balls and cheese rolls but should’ve shown them, more popular than their savories.
I wish I would have known that you were coming to West Covina Portos. I would have liked to meet you in person.
Small Mexican places are the best! Family owned!
Yes👍👊
I was tempted to buy a plane ticket to Los Angeles after seeing that piece of pie at Pie Hole .
long johns..strawberry donuts..and so much good food..a dream come true..lol..
Oh my. Eat waffle and chicken as sandwich. Perfect! Great content as always. Love a good poke bowl. Yum!
I can't believe Panda Express is included in the list.
All of the food looked so good! Thank you for the amazing video
As a La Native... I wish I had the time to give you a tour of good food around La....because thes places are definitely on the lower end of the totem pole. Except for In-n-out.
Try slippery shrimp yang chows original Tommy's double chill cheese
How yum!!!! All looked sooo sooo good in each and every way!!!!! ♥️
Shinichi so what was the car!!!! ??
Oh. His car was a BMW
@@TabiEats ahh i was thinking merc!!
Mouth watering 🤤. Sari Sari was delicious!
Lovely video and great to see you again! 😉👍
You guys deserve way more subscribers 👍
You had a lot of truly good food you need to go to the Original Tommy's Hambergers I was born and raised in California moved to Arizona in 1993 glad you both had fun 🐼
Will there be a meetup in Los Angeles?
We had one this summer. We shall have another one next time we’re in town
This is the most amazing show I’ve ever found. Dang.
You hit some of my favorites - Porto’s, Bruxies, Pink’s (try the Louisiana Hot), In & Out. Made be miss So Cal. Living in Arizona now. Yes. Make a video at the market. 😋
Yay! LA! Like to go back & visit again. Yummy 🤤
