RE4 remake is the most fun I’ve had playing a game in recent memory, maybe ever. One of the most well directed and paced games ever. An absolute masterpiece
Its not a masterpiece lol. Capcom hasn't released a masterpiece in nearly 2 generations now. This is coming from a RE die hard. They removed so much without thinking how it would tip the Jenga tower. Blood and gore but no recognizable outfits. Why is this a trend with their games?
The knife durability thing may be controversial, but I actually much prefer it. It was a great way to shake up veterans and force them to not rely on it so much. Yet, the great thing is that the knife still ends up being one of the most frequently used and important weapons in your arsenal! As much as I like how Silent Hill let's you Melee enemies to death even if you deplete your ammo, which does make things easier, I actually prefer the trouble you can find yourself in within the Resident Evil games should you run out. Yeah, there's always been the knife even in the class games, but it's never been as easy to use as Silent Hill's melee weapons. With RE4 REmake, they made it possible to run out of both ammo and have no knife at your disposal! Granted, the player should NEVER allow this to happen...but it still can. I think that sort of penalty is very much in the spirit of survival horror. You wanna play this game like you're playing Doom? Let's see how you do when your only option is to run and hide!
agreed. while the knife durability thing threw me off in RE2R (because i was scared at the beginning and wanted an infinite knife lol), i think it really worked for RE4R. it wasn't too OP (unless you made it that way), or you unlocked the primal knife. and i definitely took advantage of every knife i found, whether that was to parry/stealth kill/melee or to craft bolts.
Yup. Only thing I have left to complete is a few gallery challenges before I complete everything. I almost don't want to finish it because that means I'm done with it. It was a wild 155 hour ride for me.
that gained 110 LBS and walks with a oxygen tank. somehow taking a uncomplicated game with good gunplay and action sets was made into a long beaten horse of an experience.
Too 3 things I adored in the remake: 1: They made a reference to the striker glitch and made it a charm that gives you faster speed!. 2:I was genuinely scared in some moments especially during the island, because, well everyone should know why it’s so terrifying. 3: *”Now that’s a Knife!.”*
Resident Evil 4 is for all times... simply one of the greatest games ever (both original and remake). I have played & finish the original over 50 times, while having done so for the remake around 16 times... both on PC.
1:55-2:04 yippie ki yay to Salazar, Saddler, Krauser, and everyone and everything in the village, castle, and island. Absolutely love that part. That was just perfect.
Just like the original, this game is my favorite in the whole series and is without a doubt my favorite remake so far. I think it's truly groundbreaking for the series. The writing, motion capture, cinematography, and attention to detail is the best I've seen in any Resident Evil game.
The best thing about the remake is that it doesn’t invalidate the original. I have things I prefer in one over the other but they complement each other so well that but only can I not pick a favorite, but I can easily see myself returning to both equally as much
Not only is the remake great, but they also changed some things that add to the experience. One of my favorites is changing the old cheese spots from the original so you can’t use them anymore, sadistic but very funny
@@KennyMaximumThey mean the way they actively sabotage old cheese spots to punish players that try to use them like the floor collapsing when you climb up the ladder in the village, or the way the ogre can rip the roofs off of the sheds and chuck them at you.
@@mcanning1087true but also if dont move at the top of the tower in the village you can still aim down and shoot them off the ladder and the floor wont break lol

Perhaps my expectations were high but this game was a drawn out boring affair. You can clearly see where they attempted effort but the game itself was over-hyped and under delivered. It also seems like they don't really understand or what they want to do with the game series. Either its too dark and paint by numbers with its story or gameplay or its just dry. @@PIMPSTA951it's his own personal ranking. If it feels enjoyable for him to complete then he's gonna give it a complete it rank. At the end of the day this is just Jirard's opinion and not the objective measure of a game's completion quality.
@@SamsarasArt i think he enjoyed the first couple playthroughs but to play it 12 times and say you will never play it again means it was a chore. So games that a chore should not be completed
@@SamsarasArt i would like to think maybe he recommended completing the game (despite how he feels right now after finishing it) the same way someone talks about climbing mount everest, or describe going through bootcamp in the military: its tiring, challenging, and feels like its forever in the moment, and they'd *probably* never do it again. However, they still find value in doing those things, and they got something out of it at the end, and would recommend others to experience the same thing for themselves.
@@PIMPSTA951or they should be completed, just not consecutively. You gotta assume that he had to do each challenge in a row throughout a multitude of days at least, because it’s currently his job. So saying that he still believes it should be completed doesn’t mean “complete it all as fast as possible.” If you’re going to do that, it’s likely to give you an RE4 overdose that makes you not want to see it for a long time.
I 100% completed RE4R in about 68 hours and then put another 30 in because I couldn't put it down. I haven't gone back for mercenaries yet though, it having no new rewards or achievements means I'm saving it for a lull in new releases which hasn't happened yet. You can't currently achieve 100% achievements on Steam at the moment because Capcom has added placeholder achievements for future content. I'm very excited for more.
i wanted to like re4 remake, but between them donating Ada's dress, Mecha salazar, and ashley and leon's personalities, i can't say it hold's a candle to the original. i'd bet 650K on it.
This remake was amazing, so fun to speedrun. I like the changes they did with Ashley, she really feels like a terrified young woman in a scary situation.
11:35 on my first playthrough i went to camp at the tower in the village and screamed the most girly scream ever when the floor collapsed. Felt like a gotcha moment from Capcom and i totally loved it.
Just hearing 'Never speaking to the merchant' makes me feel unwell. I loved this game so much. It was like a huge cherry on top of a sundae I've been eating for over a decade. Bought the original RE4 for PS2, 360, PC, PS4, & SWTICH.
Hey Jirard, loved the vid. Just wanted to throw out a tiny reminder. The menu screen change isn't just another unlockable, it's a nostalgic easter egg referencing the og, which also used a panning shot of the village as a menu screen that you unlock after beating the game once.
Hope you like thrill rides! Also I loved every second of this game if we ignore the whole harpoon section without missing 🫠 for some reason Leon would just hardly throw or absolutely chuck it way too far at what felt to be random
Cat ears do not provide infinite ammo for the bolt thrower and mines. Also there’s a charm that reduces the cost of rocket launchers, including the infinite one.
@@rafresendenrafresenden.1644I hope they never remake that classic remake again. It's already perfect, and that mansion wouldn't work with OTS perspective.

@@gunnyhighway4422 not every way. The original has more satisfying gunplay due to the weapons feeling more powerful + enemy feedback + laser sight for all weapons + more precise aiming. Even with tank controls, Leon in the original was more comfortable to control due to how snappy and responsive he was, in the remake he feels heavy and clumsy to control due to the “realistic” animations. The remake improved some aspects but it also created problems that didn’t exist in the original. On higher difficulties, the staggering is inconsistent and a lot of times it takes forever to stagger an enemy. Some would argue that it makes the game more challenging, but I would argue that it makes the game dull and annoying. There’s also a higher chance to get stun-locked in the remake (in the original, it was rare to get stun-locked except for a very few boss attacks). Lack of invincibility frames, imprecise aiming, enemies grabbing you every two seconds, combined with Leon’s clumsy movement and him getting staggered by anything just makes the game not fun to play on higher difficulties IMO. I also think Ashley’s Ai was better in the original because you can tell her to wait in a spot and she sticks to your back like a glue. Her character is better in the remake, but her Ai is worse. Then there’s the other stuff like the art direction, sound design, cutscenes, voice acting of some of the characters, etc. I prefer the original when it comes to these aspects. The remake is great but it doesn’t replace the original, both games have their strengths and weaknesses and excel in different areas.
@@gunnyhighway4422 Chill. It's a matter of personal preference. Nothing wrong with it. ah yes, that video where he edited the audio to make the remake seem like it's pratically mute while the original feels like you are hearing the best quality a game from the gamecube/ps2 era could ever have? yeah i saw that one aswell, it's also pretty great how he made one of the negatives points the fact that ashley doesn't react if you try to look at her panties ( and that's actually incorrect, she does in fact reacts if you try to look, so even that stupid comparion is false information, like the whole video). But hey, big youtuber said game bad so that's my opinion now.

Also Jirard: I still recommend to complete it
😂😂😂
Love it bro, great video
This guy became a joke with his ratings. He bases the game of if he likes the game and not the utter BS you have to go through to complete it
@@PIMPSTA951it's his own personal ranking.
As soon as I heard Leon say bingo I knew the remake was gonna be good
Got the platinum for this over multiple playthroughs and each one was entertaining as always something new, awesome game
Might be my GOTY. It's just so much fun and feels great to play. One of the funnest platinums I've attempted.
Now this was a perfect Remake.
First game in a long time that I actually beat and then started over to just play it through again!
It's their best game yet.
Resident Evil 4 was my very first RE game and I am so happy to see this remake stayed trued to the orignal while being its own thing man.
Hmm, I rate it the second best remake - the first belongs to the first REmake.
Nah, re4 the best
@@bubba418Nah, RE1 Remake.
Really loving these double-meaning section titles.

Did you buy the cheat DLC tickets that give free exclusive upgrades? The regular in game tickets are silver and that's a gold ticket on screen.
i wanted to like re4 remake, but between them donating Ada's dress, Mecha salazar, and ashley and leon's personalities, i can't say it hold's a candle to the original. i'd bet 650K on it.
This remake was amazing, so fun to speedrun. I like the changes they did with Ashley, she really feels like a terrified young woman in a scary situation.

I think that’s the first Relient k reference I’ve heard on the internet I’ve heard in five scores seven years. My man!
REmake and RE2r are better ones!!
The Thumbnail is SO busy, I was surprised it was yours!
I’ve been waiting for this exact video since it came out and I played it to death! Wasn’t disappointed!
Hey Jirard, loved the vid. Just wanted to throw out a tiny reminder. The menu screen change isn't just another unlockable, it's a nostalgic easter egg referencing the og, which also used a panning shot of the village as a menu screen that you unlock after beating the game once.
Might just be one of the best remakes period
A very fun game. Resident Evil 4 Remake really delivers
Would love to see the two Outbreak games getting remade like this.
we didn't need a RE4 remake, but boy an i happy that we have
It's an outstanding remake of a perfect game. Be it 0, Veronica or 5, I am excited to see what RE title is elevated next.
The only things we are missing now is Ashley's Special 1 outfit and PRL 412
Hope you like thrill rides!
Also I loved every second of this game if we ignore the whole harpoon section without missing 🫠 for some reason Leon would just hardly throw or absolutely chuck it way too far at what felt to be random
Ya, that challenge was unpleasant. Took me 3 days of on-and-off playing to get that challenge 😅
Del Lago challenge was the worst... the shooting/aiming is wonky, and the "miss" detection is weird. I spent hours on that one 😒
Cat ears do not provide infinite ammo for the bolt thrower and mines.
Also there’s a charm that reduces the cost of rocket launchers, including the infinite one.
Kinda been wanting to play this game again, think I will now. Thanks Completionist for the idea 💡😂
I still love that intro.
I never got into RE over the years, but the HD remakes got me hooked!
Krauser looks like Jake Busey. Gary Busey's son lol. Once you see it you will never be able to unsee it!
Game’s incredible. Now we need that separate ways!!
Game of the year easily IMO. Might be close with Baldur's Gate but I haven't played that yet. Best remake of all time by a long shot.
the best capcom remake would be Residente Evil 1
Uhhh, yeah they did it already.
@@badacid7388 you and me Know Capcom the new Resident Evil 1 remake is coming probably after 5.
@@rafresendenrafresenden.1644I hope they never remake that classic remake again. It's already perfect, and that mansion wouldn't work with OTS perspective.
Now it's only RE3 the black sheep, which is very sad considering the original was the Gold sheep
Can you make a video on how you go through games to make sure you've collected everything? Especially open worlds like TotK!
Can we talk about how you can use the original sound effects and music in the remake.
Behind a pay wall of course
RE4 remake attempted to appear wide as an ocean but was deep as a puddle. Wasted opportunity of a entry. They really need to stop focusing on remaking games and continue the franchise. Re4 was always insane, now its overly tame, dour and outright censored. Did they forget all the teenagers that brought the game or played as a kid are now adults working 9-5s?
Someone's mad about the removal of upskirts 😂🤡
@@ReizokoRyu ? You realize they removed that out of the game for later editions like a year after the original came out on the Gamecube right? That wasn't a thing since that doomed console. If they need low tier salesmen like you folks, well. That says alot about how well it really did. Lets see if i'm wrong by you not down voting comments to make them vanish lol.
was fun-ISH with a heavy handed *I S H* but it was overblown. they did remove things that they shouldn't have. The big statue is gone, Ada's dress is gone and I really didn't like what happened with Ashley. She looks like a 34 year old divorcee not a college freshman.
I know it's overrated as a saying, but definitely deserved here: "Touch grass."
@@MicaiahBaron thats what you always say my good non English speaking salesmen - like the only trick in your bag. when you say "masterpiece" over a dozen times for this game, comments vanish and you get uppity when you dont get your way its a bit of a hallmark. How many accounts did you lose after practically do**ing&spamming whats his name video after he flipped on you? Crowbat? Microwbat? Changed the title and reported several of the logs? I wouldn't want your job.
Top Ten things I never thought I'd hear on The Completionist. #6. Reliant K
Loved this game. Definitely one of my games of the year
Wow, I think this is the first time I've completed a game before the Completionist himself! Them cat ears were just too enticing to pass up.
Fantastic job with this remake but I still perfer the original.
Remake is better than the original in every single way how can you prefer it
@gunnyhighway4422 I like writing, humor, and the overall tone of the original better.
For me it's about tied, but I am slightly more partial to the remake. I prefer how the story and characters were handled in the remake.
@@gunnyhighway4422 Chill. It's a matter of personal preference. Nothing wrong with it. I have more of an issue with the people who are blinded by nostalgia to the point where they can't acknowledge the fact that the remake is still a fantastic game even if they prefer the original, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
I’m excited if they remake RE5 cannot wait to see wesker again yelling CHRISSSSS!!! Or my all time favourite boulder punching Chris 👊🏻
The only thing preventing this from being a perfect remake in my eyes is the removal of the U-3 boss fight. Hopefully that's rectified in DLC!
Also, no Ashley SUPLEX
I think the knife fight with Krauser makes up for it.
@@roxtechs That was definitely a highlight, but I still missed the U-3.
Yep, it’s in Separate Ways. RE4 remake is the superior overall package to the original, in my opinion.
@@matthewzang6688 I would now have to agree with you overall.
This remake and re2 remake are two sides of resident evil perfected, the action game and the horror game. Both are my top favourites
If only you could Remake it up to all those people you scammed
Just got my resi 4 platinum last night then this is on the feed, how is this my first time coming across this dude
Nah, the original is still better.
This really didn't need a remake.
It actually did
It didn't, but I'm not mad they remade it.
One of the best remakes
Crowbat's video would disagree. RE4 REMAKE was kinda trash.
ah yes, that video where he edited the audio to make the remake seem like it's pratically mute while the original feels like you are hearing the best quality a game from the gamecube/ps2 era could ever have?
yeah i saw that one aswell, it's also pretty great how he made one of the negatives points the fact that ashley doesn't react if you try to look at her panties ( and that's actually incorrect, she does in fact reacts if you try to look, so even that stupid comparion is false information, like the whole video).
But hey, big youtuber said game bad so that's my opinion now.
@@lucasfranca2041 The watered down cutscenes. The lack of personality between character encounters. No Aida story upon release (still yet to see if there will be). Castle flamethrower section completely cut. RE4 REMAKE had some things going for it but definitely pulled on the heartstrings of many, including myself.
@@AlexanderMartinez-kr3ndWatered down cutscenes? Nah...the cutscenes just weren't directed as great as the original. That's not a big deal. The characters were just as bad and good as the characters in the original. Separate Ways is coming Sept 21 so you're wrong there. Castle flamethrower? That was corny. Especially the lava rooms. That didn't even make any sense. Why was there lava inside of a castle?
Everyone was always telling me how vanilla RE4 was the greatest game ever. While I liked it, there was always one massive thorn in it that prevented me from ever agreeing. And this remake fixed it, finally doing the one thing I thought might be impossible
Getting me to genuinely like and care about Ashley.
The game was empty and quite disappointing. Its a bit of a red flag when you need to see 'best yet' and 'masterpiece' every video where the game is mentioned. Fun? Sure slamming rocks together can be fun. "Best thing ever since Jesus Christ walking on water"? Pffft lol. SMH.
Filled it with so much clutter yet ultimately is more empty. It's missing that charm and soul
