    Honestly, I'm surprised but delighted that SF6 focused more on the user experience and single player content instead of Esports. And I say that as someone who loves playing fighting games competitivly, the weird service model in SF5 was super confusing.

      I think they successfully managed both casual experience and pro experience. By providing smash bros equivalent content, they ensure that casuals are not bored with the game. By providing the best rollback net code period and the $2 million prize pool for capcom pro tour 10, they ensure that the pro players have a reason to play.

      Fighting games can be very daunting and humbling to learn. But it gets way easier if you can find a local scene near you. The fighting game community is full of all kinds, but most people love to invite in new people and help them improve. It's a great in-person social experience in a way a lot of video games aren't.

    World Tour mode is so much more then I could have ever imagined. It is massive, its fun, has a ton of charm, and honestly is damn near a complete game on its own. I am so happy for the dev and everyone who worked on this game, I work in the gaming industry and know how many struggles come along with game development, and for them to have crammed this much polished content on release in to a fighting game is just insane. They had a ton of pressure on their shoulders after the relative failure that was SFV, and in my opinion they completely smashed it.

      World Tour was such a good idea. If you wanna bring on proper new players who have no idea how to play these games (like me) things like modern controls help, but World Tour lets you dip your toes into it without the feeling of dejection that comes from diving into PvP and losing immediately, or the hollowness of cheesing an AI. And it's an actually designed single player mode for helping people learn the game as they introduce characters and mechanics over time at a reasonable pace while just letting you have fun playing the game.

    As a fighting game player I've been saying for a long time,
    Fighting games don't need to overly focus on accessibility. They need single player content for casuals to teach them how to play, unlock items, and keep them FAR AWAY from online modes. Fighting games player retention starts to drastically decrease after a few months or even weeks because beginners and casuals are just not going to be able to beat better and experienced players who are studying the nuances of the game. I really hope Capcom continues to add to World tour mode because your best bet is single player content not Esports for long term success.
    Yeah high level fighting games are fun to watch but that represents less than 1% of the player base. While 80-90% of casuals will never even play online.

I was on a 7 game winstreak today, versus opponents who weren't just acting like bots. I can't say that I've ever played a more satisfying and rewarding fighting game ever. I feel like I'm progressing organically and not hitting that wall I almost inevitably hit with fighting games. I don't have time to learn inputs and as a game to just pick up and play a few matches online or with my friends and actually have a chance to WIN and feel accomplished even if I lose is something I've never experienced with a fighting game ever.

      There's some games out there that have done mixing Fighter-like combat with single player experiences. Like Kya: Dark Lineage for PS2, which is like if you took the art direction of Rayman 2 and 3, as well as some other elements from those games like wind gliding and board riding, made the main character a young woman with pretty cool blue dreadlocks, gave her a boomerang she can use as hair clip, and the combat style of Tekken.
      More recently, there was Clash: Artifacts of Chaos. The fun there is finding new combat stances and special attacks as you explore a *bizarre* world of weird creatures, through the eyes of one of its residents.
      It's part of the Zeno Clash series, parts 1 and 2 of which had already come out years ago and are first person as opposed to third.

    The problem with fighting games is that you have to dedicate your life to them if you want to et any good. You NOT only have to learn your characters moves. You have to learn EVERY other characters moves to know what is safe on block, what gives frame advantage, etc. I just can't to commit to one game like that.

      @kwj_nekko_6320 Год назад +1

      In this installment things are much more straightforward. You don't even have to master the combos of your OWN character, because just doing a few combos in right situations are fine. "Block safety" and "frame advantage" things are also very simplified, you won't get tricked so often.
      In SF6 the importance of understanding the basic rock-scissors-paper mechanics and 'predicting the enemy's thinkings' are the most important, more than ever.

      SF6 and other fighting games with rollback netcode allows you to have quality gameplay with excellent connection with your friends in other places, plus there are a lot of online groups/communities that run casuals and tournaments where you can discuss, hop on a call, and just play around.
