Your wardrobe is much like mine. I added in one red t-shirt, one multi-coloured t-shirt and one gold coloured button down shirt (heavier than a regular button down). Found that I just craved more colour after a few days. Amazing how many outfits those items added. You looked ver chic in your outfits. Thanks for the video.
I usually bring 4 or 5 large & small, square & colorful scarves .. I use them, rather than necklaces. Also just one nice pair of gold hoop earrings, too. The scarves weigh less than more jewelry &/or the colored tops.

I love the thought of you wearing black and white in Siena - you matched the cathedral there! I had a wonderful time when I visited Tuscany and Paris, though I don’t think I was as well-dressed as you! Great tip re shirt dresses.

I extend the wearing of my white jeans by spraying them with a water repellant which is also a spot repellant. Spray the ironed jeans until saturated, let dry and viola! I can usually wear 3-4 times without needing to launder.

Lovely outfits, but this is more of a fashion show... not so much travel capsule wardrobe or light packing. The idea is to pack 10-12 pieces to mix 'n match into 25 outfits with just a couple pair of shoes and a few versatile accessories. I'm not seeing that here, this is more like "building a basic wardrobe" -- but again, the outfits are great and you look lovely.

I can't understand the criticism from others about taking TOO MANY clothes. I think the amount was perfect and provided a lot of flexibility. I take the same amount of clothing and sometimes more when we travel and it is never a problem. Many travelers wear the same dirty clothes over and over and over looking like a teenager living out of a backpack. Style, looking pretty and feeling great in your outfit helps you enjoy your trip that much more. Always remember, people will stare, so make it worth their while. Great wardrobe Beth !!

Beth, if it works for you time-wise and focus-wise, could you do a travel capsule wardrobe for a TransAtlantic crossing (especially on the Queen Mary II or similar vessel), or a Disney or Universal studios capsule, or a European riverboat cruise capsule. I would be especially interested in style that takes lots of walking excursions into account because while I want to look great, comfort is a huge concern for me. I know we aren't traveling now because of the current health situation, but the minute things open up again hubby and I will be right back out there and I'd like to be fashion-ready. If you can't do it, no worries. Always love your channel!

I was just in Vienna and had the wrong clothes with me as it was very hot - but beautiful 😍 Wonderful video with having a “theme” to bring as wardrobe! And all of it was so elegant. Very well done!
All that for only two weeks? I think you could have pared that down quite a bit. Three pairs of jeans seems like too many, as does the number of jackets/dresses. You also show yourself wearing a pair of metallic heels, which you didn't mention. The clothes were great, and you looked wonderful in all of them! Just thought it was a lot of clothes!
i think everyone differs in what they like to pack. variety is the spice of life! xo
While that's true, of course, I thought this was going to be about packing lightly, (the title may have mislead me a little!). A capsule wardrobe, to me, would be much smaller, with much more interchanging between the items. That's all! Vive la difference!
I agree. It would be interesting if you went back through and picked out the ones you would take if you had one carry-on size suitcase or a suitcase weight limit of 20 pounds. With the availability of laundries and of clothing which can be washed in a sink and hang-dried, taking many heavy items is not necessary. One pair of white or dark jeans or lighter weight pants, one pair of dressier pants, one skirt, one dress, one jacket, four or five shirts (suitable for layering), a few scarves is enough and a bigger challenge to assemble.
You look great, but the clothes in your suitcase could suffice for someone's home capsule wardrobe.
I agree. Most people’s everyday capsules wardrobes are not this extensive.
I agree completely. If I took jeans at all (they take forever to dry), I would take only one pair. Also, There were too many tops. There were just too many clothes to be titled "packing light" and "capsule." On the other hand, the outfits were very attractive.

short jackets over long tops don't work for me - don't like the look and on a short person, to me, it doesn't flatter. i think it's kind of sloppy. Everything else you showed looks absolutely lovely and is very much my taste Bravo J Crew can be a bit expensive though

I love that a woman who is stylish and elegant at home chooses to be the same when she travels! Love your capsule wardrobe and would happily wear all of it. The only extra thing I would add is a drop dead designer silk scarf for a pop of colour with the black and white. Sometimes it seems American travellers are fixated on their luggage being carry on only. You get a luggage allowance- use it! Travelling for two-three weeks with only a cabin bag would have me looking like a “bag lady”. Have subscribed now so on I go watching and being inspired! Thank you.
I love the pieces you highlighted here! You have great taste, and I love how this capsule has elements of both modern and classic sensibilities! At 41, I don’t think that I’m quite qualified as “a certain age” :), but I would wear all of these pieces, and I could see my 20 year old daughter wearing some of them put, too! I’m also a huge fan of a black and white color scheme - I think that it’s always in style, no matter the time period or the time of year.

Thank you. I have a bad habit of not paying proper attention to what I am wearing. Have to remind myself not to be an "eyesore" to others who may be noticing me when I am outside.
I forgot to mention shoes. I just take two or three of them. Black Go Walk Sketchers (you can walk for hours on these), black sandals and a pair of flip flops for the hotel room or pool. I couldn't wear mules as I usually walk a lot on my trips.

I actually travel a lot and just came back from 10 days in Bulgaria. You brought 40 pounds of clothing, which I think is way too much. The following are my thoughts on what to pack.
Suitcases: When going to Europe I use a small medium sized suitcase (just a little bigger than a carry on size) and a small suitcase (computer sized bag with or without wheels) that I can put on top of my suitcase. This enables me to drag the two suitcases on public transit. These sizes will also fit the trunk of a small car along with your partner's who would be allowed the same amount. I take the smaller bag as the airline has lost my baggage in the past. In this suitcase, I put my meds and 5 pairs of underwear with an additional bra, my pajamas, an extra bottom (light weight pants or skirt (usually black), two or 3 extra tops and a sweater.
Jeans and demin items weight too much!. I do the black/ white wardrobe but I avoid the white blouses and tee shirts as you can usually only wear them once. My main suitcase only weighted 9.4 kilograms (21 pounds) and the smaller suitcase 4.5 kilograms (10 pounds). For the Bulgarian trip, on the plane I wore black pants, black tee shirt and heavier black sweater (It gets cold on the plane) I brought the following additional clothes: 2 pairs of black pants, one black skirt, one black and white polka dot skirt, black sleeveless dress, black sleeveless top, black red purple sleeveless top, two other short sleeve black based print tops, 2 swim suits and i coverup (went to hot water spas), light weight white sweater and black sweater. I agree with the light weight Columbian jacket but mine was lilac coloured. This was the only coat that I brought.

For 10 days in Paris in early May one year for a wedding, I wore one pair of jeans, a knit top, sneakers, and a heavy sweater on the plane. I packed a travel umbrella, a dressy black trench coat, 10 cotton knit tops, one pair of black jeans, one pair of dress shoes, and a black microfiber dress. Plus underwear, toiletries, and a couple of silk scarves. Everything fit into one carry-on and a small suitcase. If I weren't going for a wedding, I would've skipped the dress shoes, dress, and trench coat. I didn't need those things for anything other than the wedding.

Am going to steal your ideas for our next trip...I always pack waaay to much & find when we get home several things I didn’t even wear. Great tutorial! Will start planning my outfits for the next trip now so I don’t feel the stress of last-minute-packing. You did really well, Girl Friend! Glad you and Mr. Style had such a great time. One part of our 2 week vacation in February/March that blew my mind was the kennel bill for our 2 dogs....we could have easily stayed another week for what that cost! Whew!

As one of the first Image Specialists to large 500 Corporations in the 80's i congratulate you on your "Classical Taste" and your excellent travel wardrobe. Very well thought out and executed. As you know Classics are the backbone of any wardrobe and they never go out of style or good taste. They are eternal...Same in Architecture and Design..You can not beat the Classics and "Less is more" applies here as in all things. We could be sisters Beth; but now i am 82!!!! I look more like your age; but it took dedication to my lifestyle to achieve it starting early in my life. I can tell you it was all worth it..lol And it is still ongoing but i do so miss my GYM..( You can not work out cross training for roughly 3 hours three days a week wearing a mask!! Weights at home help though. ) I really enjoy your channel..Many thanks for it....

The audio on this video wasn’t very clear a lot of static in the background, just FYI.
I do not like wearing the same bottoms several times especially if I’m riding public transportation. It tends to be dirty and never cleaned. I personally rather wear tops several times. And I personally would never wear white pants or light colors in Paris other than white tops with a dark jacket or sweater over them. My color palette for Paris is black and gray.

Mesh booties...for adverse weather? Other than that, I wish I could go somewhere just to use the tips. When I travel [or at home, really] I do black and white, but in the winter, I add some red and in the warmer months, pink. I need a little color, I guess.

it's hard not to have more choices. but then i lift my suitcase and know i made the right decision to pack fewer items. 40 pounds is so manageable. and europe has so many stairs. xo

Dryers are uncommon in most places in Europe and jeans take way too long to dry on the rack. (As I found out the hard way.) I would go with something lighter weight. Especially is the warmer months.
gosh, i just air dried mine and was perfectly fine.
Took me three days in Prague to get mine completely dry. Since I only pack for a carryon case, my other options were limited.

Love your wardrobe but for me way too many clothes. Your one suitcase was definitely not a carry-on. I only travel with a Carry-On. I went to Ireland & England for 3 weeks with one Carry-On & a tote. But I have to say you looked fabulous.

I loved the clothes you took but i must say that is way more clothes than i would take. i travel with a carryon bag only even if i am going for several weeks. everything has to be non iron and i take one outer wear piece.
