    I was stationed at Johnson Barracks in the early 80s with the U.S. Army.
    After the killing of children with handicaps by Adolf Hitler. I felt it was fitting and ironic for us to hold the special Olympics for the children there in 1982 and 1983.
    I felt that it was also a memorial to those who were killing for no reason but that they were physically challenged.
    I enjoy the work you are doing. Thank you.

    Albert Speer once planned to recreate all of Berlin with the same neoclassical theme that you see here. I think he found the Nuremburg structures and the scene design for the rallies as one of his proudest achievements. He was a frightening figure: A German from an aristocratic family and with a university education that fully succumbed to Hitler's will.
    Many thanks, Vic.

My wife and I went to Berchtesgaden years ago (just as a day excursion from Austria and for the views) and I wish we hadn't, there was a bad energy. What is the camera you use, Vic ?? It seems to be a very good unit ! Do you use a "shake damper" unit ?? Spooky that there were so few other folk around...on a Sunday , early morning or late afternoon ?

    • @VicStefanu
      @VicStefanu  7 лет назад +1

      Hi, no, I do not use a shake damper.. After 3,000 videos, I can handle the camera very well (I think) even while walking around.. I use exclusively SONY equipment, this video was taped on an a-5000 camera.. It was around 10am on a Sunday, not too many tourists make it this far from Nuremberg..

Now of course it is. Sourcing information was extremely difficult....no internet back then! I relied mostly on books (scarce) but the first real breakthrough in UK came with the excellent "World at War" series of documentaries by which time i was 24 years old. That showed me what i had wanted to learn in school....but couldn't.
