    HELLO LOVELY VIEWERS! Important Note:
    If you have questions about this recipe, you can post it here for the community to answer. But if you want to ask me, please get in touch via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or my website (all links are in the description above). If you leave questions in the comments I may not see them due to the large volume of comments I receive across the hundreds of videos on this channel.
    Also, before sending on any questions be sure to read the written recipe on the website as I often add extra tips and notes not covered in the video.
    Thank you for watching!

    For peanut allergics tahini also works quite well in this sauce. Gives a yummie nutty flavour as well.

    That's so different the way it is served. Here in Malaysia we serve it wit raw onion, cucumber, compressed rice cube and the peanut sauce instead ^^ We also have variety of meat use besides the usual beef, chicken n pork there's lamb, deer and rabbit sometimes.

    Expose turmeric stained material to sunlight, until it disappears ( 3~4 hours should be enough). It is best NOT to try anything else. Rinsing in cold water before putting it out in the sun works best.

    Satay actually originated in Indonesia... If anyone was interested...

    • @muhammad96able
      @muhammad96able 8 лет назад +8

      +Optamizm no, it was originated from Indonesia. But Malaysia and Thailand have developed their own taste of Satay. I have tasted Satay that came from Indonesia, their Satay has nothing taste like the one in Malaysia or Thailand. As Southeast Asian's people, im quite ashamed how Indonesians keep claiming others nation dish or culture. Chill bro, we came from the same region. We shared the same ingredients for our dishes. Please have a good behavior. We are here in Malaysia never had an argue with Thais, Singaporeans, and Bruneians bout our dishes or culture because we knew that we shared the same thing for long time ago.

    • @Optamizm
      @Optamizm 8 лет назад

      Muhammad Naim I didn't say Malaysia and Thailand haven't developed their own flavour, I'm just stating that it originally came from Indonesia, that's all... I'm actually Australian and my wife is Indonesian and I grew up thinking Satay was a Chinese dish, until my wife corrected me...

    • @marioher4978
      @marioher4978 8 лет назад +8

      As an Indonesian I'm quite bothered by other Indos making all the fuss about whose food is originally whose (I know you're an Oz, but you took part on the Indo claiming shenanigan).
      What's the big deal tho? Yes, Southeast Asian satay did originate from Java, but it's hardly a unique invention (unlike tempeh which is genius, but then again it probably started out as a failed attempt at tofu). It's not worth the fuss.
      You could find many satay analogue all over the world e.g Japan's Yakitori, Mid-Eastern Kebabs. I bet my sweet ass that Javanese satay were a version of Mid-Eastern skewered meat dish that was introduced by the Arab merchants. Let the Arabs claim ownership of satay then.

    I have come back to this video many times. My best trick for turmeric stains is to quickly blot off any spills. If on clothes, hand sanitizer or liquid laundry soap and gently scrub with a soft bristle toothbrush or damp rag and let it soak 10 minutes. Wash in washing machine on cold water to avoid setting stain. Dry on low heat or line dry since sun will help fade pigment. Dishes can soak in a 2:1 ratio of water and vinegar with some dish soap for half an hour then drain and wash. 1:1 ratio of baking soda and water on counter tops or cutting boards and spread over stain and let sit 20 minutes then gently scrub with microfiber cloth or soft toothbrush and rinse off.

    I used to eat in a Thai restaurant when I was in London that served the best chicken satay ever, with two sauces, one peanut and another one that looks very much like your pickles. I wasn't able despite visiting any Thai restaurant I could come across back in Switzerland, to find that second sauce again. Could it be your pickels presented more as a sauce (more vinegar, a little less cucumber) or does another sauce exist. I know. It is quite vague. But I'm desperate to find it again since 15 years... Btw just discovered you channel, I just love everything, the ideas, the way you speak about food (the shrimps head in the Tom Yam video just killed me) and the fact that you explain how to make everything, like 5 spices. Most books or channels just tell you to buy the mixture. It's ok ifs you are in a hurry, but that not the real thing and taste.

    • @PailinsKitchen
      @PailinsKitchen  9 лет назад +1

      +sidlerm1 Hi! We don't eat satay with any other sauce, so it's probably just the restaurant's own version of the pickles. Thanks for your comment!

    How to remove turmeric stains? Its simple you already have that ingredient in your kitchen? Its Vinegar and if vinegar does not work by itself to remove the stain try adding Baking Soda. mostly works! On some material such as plastic it may not come off completely but if you do it regularly it will eventually come off. Tip - Keep the item soaking in Vinegar for at least an hour. overnight does help even better and try rubbing it off with a soft bristle brush.

It is delicious and adds a great texture - it looks and feels almost like an aloe vera - but obviously not. Perhaps it's a cucumber jelly? Or gelatinated - vinegar/sugar water? Suggestion so-k your skwqwes in water over night before you put the meat on them or they will burn when put on the fire.

    Hi Pailin! I have done 2 of your recipes and looovvvvvveeee them both. I did yoir roasted Thai chicken (which has been my favorite since and has done it for a number of times,shared the recipe with my sister too and she too loved it) Recently tried your peanut sauce and my partner and I think it is soooo goood that you can eat it with rice alone! I tried a different satay recipe because I thought beef should be treated differently from pork, somehow regreted it cuz it was too salty so I should probably do yours next time! Dont stop sharing your recipes! You make cooking a lottttt easier! Kudos!!!

      Re the fish sauce you can leave it out and substitute with another salt source, like soy or actual salt, but won't taste the same. Cheers!

    Hi Pailin, Yesterday night first time I watch your youtube video and became big fan of you,
    You and your recipe are awesome. I already watch 30 Video so far in less than 15 hours.
    Thanks very much.
    And a tip for you if your chopping boards and any utensils or napkins have turmeric stain,
    just simply put outside or in balcony in sunny place sun can do super job to make them
    spotless clean.

    Baking soda and lemon. Scrub, then let sit for ~10min helps to lift turmeric stains....turmeric can be relentless....:) thanks for the satay recipe mmmm looks so good.

      The only thing that really works is putting the things with turmeric stains into the sunlight. The pigment is not stable in UV.

      @@PailinsKitchen Direct sunlight magically gets rid of turmeric stains! I dry my kitchen towels, apron, and mortar and pestle out on my balcony for a few hours under the sun and all stains are almost gone!

    Peanut Sauce is actually pretty common to eat in the Netherlands!
    The peanut sauce we eat here is also totally different from this recipe and doesn't include curry paste!
    We not only eat it with Satay but also with French Fries, BBQ and even Chinese food! :D
