Hotel Dusk and it's sequel are probably the first games I truly fell head over heels for. A deep and personal story, inspired art style and the groovy jazz ost just hit me at the right moment (puzzles were a little obtuse at times though). Literally lost my shit when they announced the Another Code remakes. Let's hope that Mr. "I got myself a paperclip" gets the same treatment his older (younger?) sister did.
I'm hoping so too! Even if something gets lost in translation (like holding the DS as a book), I just want Mr "Maybe I should Buzz off" to be an HD flickering handdrawn dude on my switch :) I beat Dusk and Last Window weeks ago and yet, I still can't move onto any other game.
The DS was the king of visual novels and VN-hybrid games, and that's coming from me, AKA: Mr. "Skipped the Visual Novel, Watched the Anime Instead." Hotel Dusk, Another Code, Ghost Trick, Ace Attorney, Trauma Center, 999, and even that weirdly good Doctor Who licensed game are some of the standouts of an already legendary handheld console.
999 is one of the best. I was excited when it got a console port, but that's one of the examples where I think it lost a bit of the game's original intent when it was brought to consoles.
I just learned about and quickly binged Hotel Dusk and Last Window during the past 2 weeks, am super hopeful that Kyle Hyde makes a grand return on Switch!
Watching this after getting a dsi, my first ds in my life ever besides my 3ds that i was given years back that i only recently gave attention, this video hits good. I haven't played hotel dusk yet but Ghost Trick has been my favorite DS game so far. This truly is an amazing and unique handheld and i'm so glad you made videos on itself and its newer 3d brother. Really jealous of your all white one still. Keep up the great vids and cant wait for a psp video if you make one!
Hotel dusk was one of my favorite games growing up! I HOPEEEE that since another code got a remake we can get a remake for Hotel Dusk. Even then I don’t want TOO much different. Loved the way this game looked
AHH I’m jealous you got to grow up with this game! I am so in love with Hotel Dusk and its sequel as it’s been like a warm blanket of a game for me lately. Hope that we can see some adaptation of these games one day but even if not, all the more reason to cling onto my DS 🏨🌅🪟
I could talk and talk and talk about this game for ages, and so many of my exact thoughts and feelings you just NAIL in this video. How it's a highlight of what make the DS distinct; how interesting it'll be to see it ported to the Switch (if that does happen, and how BADLY I want it to); the "detective novel in love with being a video game". Great video. Glad you bowled with Louis -- he needs a friend.
This game is truly something special but you already know that :) even if it doesn’t get a remake or a port, I guess that means it’s even more important for us to keep Kyle Hyde alive. And don’t worry, me and Louis took some time to listen to some Pink Rabbit at the bar. (The Streets Have Memories is my new favorite song to tie my shoes and wag my fingers to)
As someone who played last window first a few years ago (europe privileges) and went back to hotel dusk earlier this year, both of these games are so charming and have constantly been on my mind since I played them. The unique gameplay and art style plus the beautiful soundtrack and wonderful character writing have always been so so wonderful, and I really hope they (somehow despite having only one screen to work with) manage to port this series to the switch to let people into this wonderful world. I really enjoyed this video, and I hope you keep making your gaming diaries where you can, they inspired me to get back into my own 3DS this year as well :)
Thank you so much :) sometimes I may take longer than usual to say something on here but these gaming diaries won’t be stopping anytime soon. My favorite most heartfelt moments in gaming this year were when I got the guarded and hard boiled patrons of Dusk to open up to me. This game truly rules. Keep playing the 3DS 🤓 I’m happy to have you here
Going down the DS and 3ds rabbit hole is so fun. I grew up with those consoles but there are still tons of great games I've never played. I'll have to try this one!
Same here! And I highly recommend it! Even if you don’t click with it or complete it, just the experience of walking around and interacting with the characters is an absolute treasure
Cool video I love Hotel Dusk. As soon as the Another Code remake got announced I was really hoping Hotel Dusk and Last Window could get the same treatment, but I hope they don’t change the visuals even though they definitely will.
Thank you! It’s the end of the year and I’m still checking if any news broke out about a Kyle Hyde collection for the switch. I know for a fact it’ll be a different vibe if these games do get remade but I will take any excuse to revisit hotel dusk and cape west apartments

Massive fan of Hotel Dusk and Last Window.
Happy to join the club 🔎🤓

Kyle Hyde in any way shape or form is exactly what I need on the switch 😭 currently playing last window right now and I’m loving the hell out of it
Fingers crossed this gets a remake on switch. What a great game

The DS truly has a fantastical library.

Also Pink Rabbit from the soundtrack is going to be played at my funeral

Fantastic video, there is no game I could ever love more than Hotel Dusk ❤️
Thank you so much! And honestly, that’s so valid. I could never love a game like Hotel Dusk when no other game asks me to hold it like a book 📖
Guess it's time to dust off my DS
Yes it is 🤓
I miss real handheld systems!
I miss glasses-free 3D screens, yelling into the DS mic to play the flute, and puzzles where you have to close your DS to solve it 😭
@@nikgrgriounforgettable iconic DS ❤😂
Can you make another 3ds video talking about great titles and hidden gems in the 3ds game catalog
