The kink is normal--happens when the film leader wraps around the takeup spool. When you're rewinding, keep going until it becomes easier to wind. You'll feel that, and you can in most cases hear the end of the film come off the takeup spool. Pro tip: When you take the film out of the camera, make that kink even sharper by creasing the film. Makes it crystal clear that the roll has been shot.
The camera I was using was an automatic rewinding camera so unfortunately I had no control over it. Sounded like it rewound fully which is why I was surprised when I opened it up. But appreciate the tip anyways 🙌🏽
Great travel and photography inspo!
Thanks so much!
