Wow! This is an awesome track to take on. Excellent improvisation based on Goodbye Pork Pie Hat. Jeff Beck was one of my heroes. Saw him live quite a few times. He never stood still and was always stretching his guitar playing further. You did a great job here Paul. 🎸🎸👏👏🎶🎶

Dit gaat me nog steeds compleet boven m'n pet, dus petje af hoor, Paul! 😉🧢👏Heel knap, hoe jij niet over 1 maar zelfs over 3 schalen kunt improviseren! 🤩 Ik hoop dit ook eindelijk te gaan leren, maar dat kost me nog wel een tijdje. Wie weet is m'n nieuwe gitaardocent in staat om eindelijk de verbindingen voor me te leggen die ik nog miste om de gitaarhals echt helemaal te doorgronden! 👩🎓
Mijn dank Liesbeth! De schalen zijn op zich niet zo moeilijk. De moeilijkheid bij improviseren zit erin om (althans dat vind ik) zo gevarieerd mogelijk te spelen. En de moeilijkheid specifiek hier is om de 3 schalen soepeltjes in elkaar te laten overgaan. Dat viel nog niet mee. Je moet dan ook kijken welke noten gemeenschappelijk zijn en bijvoorbeeld die gebruiken bij overgangen, dan klinkt het natuurlijker. Wat dat betreft ben ik ook maar een beginneling. Er is een mooie site met akkoorden en schalen voor gitaar die ik geregeld raadpleeg: www.all-guitar-chords.com/index.php

Dat is een verrijking van het notenpalet en geeft een mooi aparte sfeer. Kan niet op elke backing track maar waar het kan gebruik ik majeur en mineur schalen tegelijk. En soms gooi ik er wat exotisch doorheen. Net zoals het in me opkomt in de flow.
Awesome version you did, love this. Random question - you ever have a pork pie? I didn't until I was in my early 30s then thanks to the internet, being able to look up information was such a game changer. I was able to figure out why here in America, meat pies came in beef, chicken, and turkey but not pork. Pork pies are an English thing. So my mom made a special pork pie with a Bisquick crust. Eventually I was able to have a pork pie from England, I forget when I finally was able to, maybe late 2015/early 2016? I ate it remembering the one my mom made and while it was amazing, the one my mom made was even better. My mom was still around at the time so I was able to tell her I thought her pork pie was even better than this award-winning traditional recipe. At that point my mom was no longer in the health to be able to cook many recipes. She passed away in March 2021.
Interesting lines, and I have to admit I don't know Beck's work that well (some catching up to do there as well). A sense a Zappa influence though too. Anyway, great playing !!
