The blast was severe, with a flash fire that burned the paint on a steel building 200 yds away. As kids we would take antifreeze jugs and fill them with oxy-acetylene mix after snuffing out a cutting torch, then we would bury them under a junk car and use a model rocket igniter to set them off. The blast from one of those could be heard for miles. Then one day we were really bored and we filled a 55 gallon drum by stuffing a trash bag inside the one bung and filling it with a snuffed out cutting torch. When filled as much as we could hold by hand, we tied a gun powder coated piece of rope into the bag and we tied it shut. We then took it out in the woods and buried it before setting it off with a model rocket fuse and motor. We ran the wires as far as we could, started the old farm truck and set it off as we gunned it away from there. We were 1/4 mile away when it went off and we could feel the blast in our bones. It shook houses for miles. It left a hole in the ground the size of a dump truck and threw dirt and rocks everywhere. We stayed far from that area for a few days because the police were asking around to see where the blast came from. We were about 14 or 15 then.
My welding teacher said he saw an oxygen tank like that get knocked over, the neck came off, it went through a concrete block wall and traveled another hundred yards. When I saw the table, I thought, well, I’ll get to see if what Mr. Zeh said was true.

That soda bottle blew up in about ten seconds. Sounded like a bomb went off. Nothing left of bottle but the collar that was screwed to tank. We literally could only find a couple of tiny pieces. Apparently he did this before , but he was never going to do it again...Everyone in a nearby building was looking out their windows. I'm sure even plastic would've killed anyone standing nearby.
