    Confidence is definitely one of the first things most new riders have to develop. If you're confident your entire riding ability improves, so this should appeal to a lot of people.

    I've just bought one for my wife. I'm an English expat now living on Palawan island, Philippines. The roads here, although mostly concreted in the city and main highway, can be atrocious with deep,deep splits in the road surfaces due to poor foundations. Normally on a 2-wheel vehicle, your front tyres will dig into these and follow them.....tram-line style....which is definitely NOT good in and around town, or out on the highway in damp humid conditions.
    This Tricity however overcomes ALL of those problems! I've ridden it around town, over these pot-holes and deeply rutted roads. Absolutely NO PROBLEM. Once to learn that the Tricity will NOT let you down, your confidence just goes through the roof. Today I rode it on a 80km (50 mile) route along a hilly, twisty road, parts of which were being widened with one carriageway a cut-up, sandy/gravely/muddy road surface. The Tricity just rode over EVERYTHING. Absolutely FANTASTIC.
    However, all is not perfect. Even on short in-town rides I find it VERY tight and cramped. The 'hump' in the seat needs to be 10cm further back for me. It feels like I'm sitting way too far forward with my elbows almost behind my torso. I'm 6ft (183cm) tall. For a local here (average 5' 5" tall) its no problem.
    Also it SERIOUSLY needs more power. Any other reasonably modern 125cc moped/scooter will leave this for dead away from the lights. A penalty for the extra kg of the front end no doubt. Rumours are that they are dropping the 125 in favour of the 155 engine. 100% agree with that upgrade.
    Once on the highway the wind coming off the front is bad! I'd DEFINITELY put a larger screen on the front. Maybe 10 to 12cm taller and a few cm wider.
    It feels a little weird when you first set off, but very quickly you realise that the front is very well planted on the ground. I was going a fast round the twisty parts of the highway as I do on my V-Strom 650XT! No joke! In fact I'd slow down on my V-Strom if I saw gravel on the road on a bend.......on the Tricity, no problem!
    With 155cc's, longer seat and taller screen, for in and out of town commuting......Yamaha have a winner!

      Btw, does someone who don't know how to drive a scooter yet can drive this one?

    I live in Mae Rim (Chiang Mai, Thailand) and ride a Tricity. Previously I rode a Nouvo and a. Filano (also by Yamaha). The. Tricity glides through traffic and is 'glued' to the road, a wonderful bike. And very lucky for us not as expensive as in the UK or the mainland (as you say), over here is is around 1800,- Euros. Can't wait until Yamaha comes out with a bigger version (200 cc)

      Does it have ABS? Can you keep your feet on the bike when you stop at the traffic light (if not, why?)

    • @pipo82837
      @pipo82837 8 лет назад

      it has ABS but you have to put at least one foot on the ground when fully stopped. It doesn't have a "lock" when in standstill. the Piaggio does, this is a wider version and you actually don't need a Motorbike license to ride it.

    Hi, have 3500km on my tricity, in my point of view, there are just few downsides, stock maxxis tires average on dry surface, very very poor performance in wet, only luck is that you have two Wheels in front, but the back tire looses traction very often, and the cutting does bad job transfering the water when you ride faster than 60kmh. Changing my tires during 4000 service, so we will see, not that many options in those sizes, michelin city grip in back and michelin city pro in front chosen. Its a "rocket" to 60kmh, overating over 70 is prohibitet or takes a calendar to plan :-) happy to cruise at 80-90kmh though, after that the stock windshield does not help that much, highway downhill 110 (carefull the original top box makes it sensible to side winds and little wobbling occures) 85 highway uphill, so you are not ovetaken by lorries, but cannot overtake then either( downhill only). My fuel consumption is 2.7l per 100km. I ride quite a lot, so the service intervals after 4000 kms takes me to service in like month and half, so its the expense to count with. The rear suspension paradoxily works with only 12inch Wheel and copes with bumbs quite well, the small tire doesnt like cobble stones of course. front suspension is superb and on dry good roads the handling is nearly sporty, stable and gives confidence. comfy pilot seat for me, passenger takes some hit of course, had one for full day trip on bad country roads, the performance and stability isnt that influenced by another 70kg, but the rear suspension often goes to limit then. I like to critise, but these are only downsides, brakes are really good( if you can, go for abs version, i didnt, and it brakes that good, that you can lock front Wheels, notnig happens then, you got two. very good ergonomics for higher person iam 187cm, no problém with space for legs.Here in czech republic, people often stare what is it, you get used to it, not many trikes in here. No 12v socket, but prepared cables. The 155 version fix most of it. .

    Just to let you know that the Tricity 125 2018 has a max speed of 80-85 Km/h on a flat road without wind. That is a nightmare as I bought it as lots of reviews said that model can drive max GPS speed : 106km/h but it's completely wrong. The Yamaha shop little guy tested as well and yes... he could drive to max 92km/h (little slope down) written on the scooter... on GPS it's less of course. Is there a problem with my 2018 scooter ?
