- Scooters are a great way to get to and from work. They're cheap to buy, easy to ride and very convenient to park. However registration and insurance costs for scooters over 50cc's are very expensive. The Tricity get's around this issue...

Got the 125 & 2 years later I'm still grinning. Top scoot for us old coots. 6000km later and no trouble @ 90 kmh on highway.
Yeah they're good scooters aye. The 155 was certainly quicker than any scooter I'd ridden previously! Also got renown Yamaha reliability.
Did not expect the first video I find on this bike to be one from NZ and riding around Upper Hutt of all places! Great review. Cheers.
Haha who would have thought! Cheers man
I've had mine for a year now. Commuting at it's finest. Free parking at work, cheap registration, secure riding in ice and simply delightful to ride. My last Yamaha was an RZ350 2-stroke beast and quite a different riding experience (think power band). I would still be inclined to suggest new riders get some motorcycle driver training or defensive driving training at the least to stay safe in the urban environment.
Agree it's a nice scoot
Damn... those background scenery looks beautiful.
Yeah the place I tested it is a nice area
That was a great review on that Tricity. I just had no idea, that scooters can go up to 100mph . Awesome bike, for someone on disability like me.
Yeah it's a good scooter, but I'm in NZ so it's 100km/h or 62mph. Top speed is around 80mph or 130km/h
It was a very good review! Thanks! :-)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good review. Thanks mate.
Cheers man
Thanks for the no-nonsense ride along! I've been eyeballing these Tricity things as I consider going for my bike license. Here in Aus we need a bike license to ride these things which is a bit disappointing considering in many places it seems you only need a car license to ride. But I'm not looking to go fast, just a proper step up from sticking tiny 2-strokes on bicycles and hoping for the best!
Yeah tbh the only reason I'd buy one is if you could ride it on a car licence like in nz. Otherwise I'd just get a proper motorbike
@@KiwiCarLife True. At this point I'm just doing my homework and weighing up my options. Either way I'm still going to be stuck on "L" plates at 38 years old
@@NicksBikes How did you go getting your Ls, i see you ended up getting a CB 125F.
@@craigalexp I just passed my licence test a few weeks ago, so no more L plates for me! The CB125F is so easy to ride it almost feels like cheating
Hi i liked this review on the 155 . I hope you have planes on trying the 2020 Yamaha Tricity 300 i would like to hear what you think about it. Thank`s keep up the Good Work .
Yeah if we get it here I'll be interested to give it a go
Thank you, that was a great review, seeing the perspective of the rider. And the scenery is beautiful.
Cheers mate
im gonna buy the 125cc version of this ... i fell inlove with the design
Yes a lot of people I talked to said it's ugly, but I reckon as three wheel scooters go it looks very smart. Much nicer than the Peugeot ones they uugly
They copied the Vespa tri wheeled of Italy

Thank your for the good riding impressions. I would like to try a 155 or a 300 TriCity but they seem to be non-extant in the U.S.
Yeah think they’re mainly designed for the European market
im looking to buy somthing like this, nice vid ty!
Good luck with the purchase
Thank you so much for such a great review. I'm picking up the cyber blue 125 version tomorrow (2019) model. Never done a test ride either. I just fell in love with it since its older versions!
I have a 2011 Lexmoto tornado 125 atm that I'm switching for this. What can I expect from the tricity driving it back home?
Be honest. ;)
Ahh very good, interested in getting a second? (only joking haha as I'm selling my 125cc one coz I've got a car now) should just feel like an ordinary scooter tbh. I went from a 50cc to this and had no issues with the changeover and definitely appreciated the added space, comfort, steadyness, and not to mention, the POWER!!
@@KiwiCarLife Thank you!! I appreciate you replying. It's a great scooter. I use it every day to commute. 0 complaints. Haha, I would've taken yours as well in a heart beat if I could. You have a great week. :D
Took one for a test ride today, a bit weird to ride at first but buy the end of the ride I was up to speed, really like it still uming & aring weather to buy it's quite expensive here in Oz.
Any options for second hand? I finally bought one yesterday for 3k second hand - video coming out soon...
@@KiwiCarLife cool looking forward to it, not much second hand here in Oz, thanks for the reply 😃👍
How good is this 3 wheeler at Lane Splitting? In cities with heavy traffic, a motorcycle/ scooter's biggest advantage is its ability to squeeze in between cars during traffic jams. Will the Tricity's 3rd wheel make it too wide to do so?
Interesting you ask that because I had the same question upon buying one. What I discovered was because the widest point of most scooters is the handlebars, having the second wheel at the front didn't really make any difference to my ability to lane split.
Thanks for the review! It was awesome I appreciate seeing it drive… but gee bruh next time be a bit more specific though with finding out what it is like to drive if you are a one legged driver and know the release dates in USA, Spain, Thailand, Finland etc as all kiwis should know this off hand and licence req for each country etc 😂
Oh goodness haha
Have currently got a UZ50 (after watching your earlier videos) and have done 1000 km on it, a lot of fun but I'm ready to get something that can do 80 km/h easily. This would seem to fit the bill, as I don't have a motorbike licence. The registration is cheap, I wonder whether they're cheap to insure too. I'm interested and will take a test ride. Enjoyed the review, especially as the Hutt Valley was my old stamping ground. They cost $7800 currently, so the price has gone up hugely.
I see, yeah would recommend the tricity
ei bro thanks for the review. about the turning though, I saw another review, when he does go on corners, he shifts his body as well to counter the centrifugal force. not sure how to explain it
Yeah just got one myself recently and after riding it for a bit, it's really easy to get used to and just handles like a normal scooter. I think just coz I was used to a much lighter scooter I found it a bit difficult
Hi, thanks for the review from Italy!
Can you tell me what is the max speed of this motorcycle and cruiser speed on highway?
Max speed about 130km/h, it'll happily cruise at 100
Good review. Would it handle a 100 kph highway.
Yep easily I bought a 125cc version and top speed was 106kph, and 90 was comfortable. This would do 100kph comfortable, top speed probably 125
No probs with mine. Get around 250 kliks per tank, probably more if I stayed in eco mode.
Haha yeah but when you've got 15hp to play with, might as well use it right?
I need your help...can you ensure that a left above knee amputee can ride one of these...please give a extended balance review
Uhh that's oddly specific haha. I only had the scooter for a short time and am unlikely to get a chance to ride one again, but I'd say if you only ever lean to one side when stopped then maybe? It is certainly stable at speed, but it's very heavy so not sure how you'd go with only one leg trying to hold it up when stopped
Very good review👍👍👍
Sir can i ask if its stable to ride other than 2 wheel motor? Im probably a beginner so im planning to buy these 3 wheeler bike.
To be honest I'd probably recommended a 50cc scooter first because they're cheap and light so easier to keep upright. The tricity is stable, but only once you get moving, and it's very heavy, so easy to drop when you're just learning
Learn to counter steer, then you will corner without running wide. I have owned a 125 Tricity for 3 years. Bloody brilliant engineering. My everyday ride.
Yeah I see what you mean, after I bought one and owned it for myself I understood how it all worked but on the test drive it felt a little weird
I'm surprised this has a lot of grunt as it's so heavy. The Aerox 155 really does shift - same engine but very light.
Yeah I was able to crack 100km/h comfortably which is not bad
why the Tricity 2018 125cm3 abs full led has no parking break on the left side like the 155 ?? the 155 is not allowed in my country.
Hmm, not sure - we don't get the 125 in NZ anymore so possibly the 155cc is more of a replacement model for us with new features like the parking brake, rather than another model alongside the 125 like in other countries.
Cool bike, but I prefer the Piaggio MP3 500 LT Sport with ABS & ASR. That's a beast of a scooter!
Yeah I can see why you like it but it's way more expensive so I personally wouldn't get one for myself...
your lucky, just bought the 125 version and grunt ain't at your wrist i'm afraid but what you don't know you cannot miss like!
Yeah I only test rode this 155 and bought a 125, definitely not as quick, had more difficulty doing 100km/h on the motorway but it wasn't bad.
How i wish it will come in the philippines . This is So much features than the older version. Can ya please inform us if it comes to ASEAN countries like phils
Not sure sorry
Just got my UZ50 a couple weeks back, was getting ready to get my motorcycle license until I realised the cost of rego and insurance and stumbled upon this. Would you still recommend this as a great scooter? I don’t travel on highways often so don’t have the need for a bike that can go highway speeds at this point. Cheers!
Yep I bought one and it was great - too bad you didn't let me know earlier because I just sold it now I have a car
If you COUNTER STEER it's so easy to control and it's the best bike you could ever run.
Yeah I know just bought one and I see what you mean
Self balancing bro?
I have one of these bikes, they ride the same as a two wheeler.but more stable in the front. This guy is playing it up.
Yeah that’s basically what I said?
does it available in India ?. if yes, which showroom? and what is the price ?. i am going to buy a bike in next 1 month time. looking for more details.
I wouldn't have a clue sorry haha
I want one!!
Thankfully they’re not that expensive
You like it, I like it and we all like it! Lol
Yup
Is it easier to balance than the normal scooter?
Not really any different tbh, the weight I guess makes it more stable, but I think the whole beauty of it is that despite everything that's going on up front, it still feels just like a normal scooter.
@@KiwiCarLife thanks for this info bro. Planning to buy one but i guess will have to practice with bike first hahaha.
A suspension upgrade then it will be a beast
Yeah I guess, otherwise just removing the center stand to allow for more lean would help too
Asap I need this scooter.... because covid-19 k leya... price how much
Lots
Here in New Zealand it's $5500 NZD
Sir, do you still balance this motorcycle?
Yes
What town are you in?
Wellington - I took the test ride out in upper hutt though
Cuando llegará a España este modelo.?
Lo ciento, no sé
I have a 125 tricity.
Nice! Hope you're enjoying it!
India mea kab milega ....
I need the scoter
Not gonna be able to help ya there
This scooter will launch in India or not
No idea mate
Can it legally carry a second person?
Yep - has the pegs to do it and it's registered as a car
You are exaggerating the weight transfer thing. Actually it is a perfectly normal counter-steer, not a weight transfer. Obviously with two sets of wheels it will take a little more effort, but it is such an easy movement I don't know why you are making such a fuss. It takes about one minute to get used to it.
Hey, it's all good mate. No fuss was made. I like the scooter, however, like how a massive SUV is going to feel bigger and heavier and harder to turn when compared to say, my little Integra, the Tricity is the same when compared to my Suzuki UZ50. There's no getting around the fact that it weighs 100kg more which means (and this isn't strictly true but it makes a point) that's 100kg more you have to push over when turning. Any 160kg motorcycle will feel the same I'm sure. It's not that I didn't like it, but if you watch:
ruclips.net/video/aEosex-Em90/видео.html
at 2:04 and see how fast I can turn it, and then watch:
ruclips.net/video/ye-PavxERRo/видео.html
at 3:37 and see how much slower it is to turn with more effort put into the turn with the Tricity.
So basically that's just a long way of saying, the tricity is a big boi
How much this tricity 155cc bro?
New, it's now $5.5k in NZ I think
KiwiCarLife in peso how much
How do I find a Yamaha Tricity Dealer in Ohio? I also need contact information and the cost in US Dollars please.
Not from the US mate so not going to be able to help you there. Price is about $3300USD when converted from ours but its a different market so who knows
Check for dealers online
You are puting helmet in wrong possition , cause behindback of the seat there is a space for the face side helmet

40km/l mileage?
Yeah roughly
They do not sale this Tricity 155 in United States!
No they don't!
14.5 hp at 165kg, lol I'm surpised this thing can even move
Haha yeah it's a big boi
The hp figures arent the whole story here. The trick is how and where the torque is produced. 14.4 n/meters compared to about 10 for the 125. This makes all the difference. At the lights its relatively quick of the mark. At speeds higher than 110 kph there isn't much left but I have seen slightly higher speeds on mine. Im 186 cm and 110 kilos so a good result. I own 7 motorcycles. In general the tricity is the preferred daily local ride because its fun and so easy.
They should have just put the third wheel on the back
Haha not really sure how that would have helped because the whole point was to increase front end traction and stability... But hey, not a bad idea.
This may interest you if you would like to see what a twin-rear wheel scooter would ride like!
