Lifesaver video for me and my 88 silverado. The dumb thing I did was not noticing the battery cable resting against the exhaust after I changed the starter. This got me going.
Huge! Thank you for posting this video. My truck has sat for months and I have scratched my head literally exactly the same problem you had. Thank you so much
@@nathan.kostelecky I accidentally put my negative terminal on the last junction block terminal I didn't know it was a hot line and I kept getting spark when connected my battery you think i blew that fusible which cause my engine not to turn over?
So I arched off something on or next to the alternator. Now it cranks over and I have all my lights no won't get spark. Has fuel no spark. Could I have blown a different fusible link or my coil or something?
Turned out I'm dumb. I was installing a aftermarket temp guage (hard line) and apparently the top one next to thermostat goes to ecu. Bottom one goes to guage.
Pretty much the exact same story for me too but I listened to the wrong know-it-all and put a direct positive line to the s terminal on the solenoid. Zero power anywhere is where I'm at. Mine's a 92 regular cab manual trans. I don't understand - my old starter was wired with a direct, 2 g wire from the positive battery terminal to the starter motor as well as a 10 gauge another terminal for the solenoid. No idea how the heck my fusible links get power because I cannot find 10 gauge wire running from the positive battery terminal to that initial fusible link for your hood light. I have no power no nothing right now after I shorted my battery.
When I try. The key on my truck has power but it won't crank i pulled the starter out and checked it with the battery and it cranks but when it's set up in the truck in won't crank
Hello, I have a 89 c2500 that I carb swapped for personal reasons. I had power after I got everything hooked up and was about to get it started for the first time. So I went to hook up my battery and is made a connection and then all of my power was lost. No power to the whole truck anywhere. I have replaced the battery alternator starter and main power wire to the starter. I thought it was a fusable like at the junction block under the hood where the black wire with the red stripe is because that is the one running to the battery and I took a spare wire and tried to run it hot to that point and still nothing. Please please please help. Thanks
Thanks for your vid, got my few brain cells rubbing together enough to pick up a multi-meter and find the gremlin. Spoiler alert: did you know water can get INSIDE a wire and corrode away the core?
@@DavidGomez-zx4vk Actually I did found out that I had to run my clutch switch to my key on 12v switch to get key on 12v when I turn the key to on position all I had to do from there was push in my clutch switch and it turned over lol, kinda cool I can use my clutch switch as a push start lol
Did yours crank before the fix? I have power and it'll crank but no start. Replaced fuses, distributor cap and rotor, ignition control module, plugs, plug wires, fuel pump and coil 😓 what black magic or what god or demon do I need to pray to to fix this damn truck!?
All new fuel system from tank to pump to filter to line to injectors. Rebuilt TBI with new gaskets too. I hate how much money I've thrown at this thing but dammit I love this truck.
Would I have the same problem? I slapped a 12v 40amp boost charger onto my battery and I went and cranked it yes idiot. But nothing turns on you turn the key and nothing happens.
I did the exact same thing with the starter😂 been searching for 2 months now. This has saved my obs. Thanks alot

@@559Obsalex yup lol it was sparking like crazy, I just grounded to my engine block
Thank you. I may have same problem. Much appreciated.
Should've just used a drill bit or rat tail file and opened up the hole in the factory ring terminal

The black wire goes to your battery also?
Helps the electrons spin!!!! Lol
Thanks, dude that really help

Did you continue to use the disable links or did you do away with them??
Where does the negative cable hood to?

i have no power at all to anything it just happend randomly do you think this could be the issue battery has 12.6 v
terminals are clean
It's hot which makes it more exciting... 😉
You can fix that actuator by just shimming something underneath so the actuator engages.
What’s the part number on acdelco
Unplug that door motor no more click click....lol
I did the same thing but mine still cranks but won't start up. Mines a 91 v1500 and does not have the same wires. Please help
Check the a + b injectors fuse by the driver side
Whats the part number?
ACDelco battery cable 2SD38XG. I'm going to have to get one for my truck as well

No luck at all... just put in a whole new distributor assembly and still doing the same crap. Starter fluid does nothing as as well.

It's definitely worth checking continuity of the power wire if you're getting nothing, no lights, no ignition, etc.
Where is the fuse box
Under the steering wheel, on the left.
So you made the mistake of not using a correct battery tool. And now you're using it again. Obviously, you didn't learn from it the first time.
WHEN WILL I LEARN?!
