Hi Mike. Nice helpful video. We installed ours in Thailand 1.5 yrs ago, same brand inverter you use and same app download problem, resolved by the installer. Note, when in the USA, I have to use a VPN, because the Chinese inverter company is blacklisted there.
Thanks Mike, great vid. Didnt mention pricing at all? I really loved that they got their safety vests and helmets on for a photo, then promptly took it all off to work, classic Thailand ;)
Hi Mike! Interesting vlog & great to see a workforce work as a team so rapidly, neatly & efficiently, - I wish we could have the same service in Europe! Will you have a small battery installation later to run the AC through the night? Nice video work too! We’re back December through March - catch up then! Duncan.
Hello Duncan…….I ask about battery back up to run an AC at night and they said it would be pretty costly. At this point we’re gonna try just with what we have to see what the savings are and maybe in the future look in the batteries but I think it’ll have to be quite a few batteries. Great to hear you’re coming back to Thailand let us know and we will definitely hook up.
Just found out from PEA , you can install your own solar system for on grid. After install PEA will come and approve and install smart meter. I used 5kw Solax inverter on grid. 10 x 300 watt . 2 baht will be given for power fed back.there has been talk on forums it must be by approved installer , but not the case by my inquiries to pea. Enjoy the sun all. D.
True. Our house being new we had the correct meter when they came to inspect the solar system. We live in Sattahip. The navy runs the grid and is one of the only towns in Thailand that we cannot feed back to the grid. LOL. But we are very happy on the savings so far from the solar. About 40% each day. We are enjoying the sun but the heat is something else, as I am sure you know living here.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. It’s just that I’ve seen so many videos on what it cost to live in Thailand and no two people are going to have the same exact situation.
Nice video. Love the financial advice!!!! So after a year, was the solar worth it and would you have done anything different? Cheers from Chiang Mai :)
We are very happy with the results. According to the app so far we have saved 20,000 baht. Or about $600. It’s nice to see the a saving each month. Wouldn’t change a thing. Thanks for watching.
I was always an apple guy. Think I started with iPhone 2. The inverter was from China and probably the US government has some kind of sanction on it. And never changed my location to Thailand until I tried to download the app.
Do you have a battery installed on your solar system? Or are you only using the solar during the day so it supplements your electricity on the grid? I'm fully off grid and I can run one air con during the night. I have no utility bills on my off grid homestead in Thailand 🇹🇭. How much did your system cost for everything ? 🙏
It is a on grid system. No battery. So at night we use the grid. Installed 5KW 195,000 baht. Surprisingly our electric bill was cut in half. Thanks for watching.
@@latandmikeinteresting My electric is 1100thb per month with five people in a 4 bedroom house. Do you disclosing your bill now? Just curious to see if it’s worth it for us.
I know our meter is digital, but I don’t know what type. The electric company is coming out here to inspect the solar. We will talk to them about it then thank you.
Definitely an organized, efficient, professional crew and installation. The panels go will with the dark color of your roof and are fairly non-obtrusive. Also like how they were careful of your home and belongings by using padding, protection, etc. Even the padding wrapped around the ladder when leaning it against the wall.
Good question. I didn’t know so I asked our sales person. He replied: 545x10= 5450w 5450w-deduct loss30-40%=3815w Maximum production approximately 3815w
What? I wasn’t even close to making that much when we lived in the US! I would talk to someone else. Believe me unless you have a millionaire life style you can live very comfortably on a 1/4 of that.
@@latandmike I pulled the trigger last June and quit my job and the U.S. on a budget of 85,000 baht per month. I’ve just got to make sure that I don’t run out of money before my social security becomes available. 😁😁😁😁

Glad you liked the video. Thanks for the tip on the VPN.
Should have used some polly cell panels too they work best on cloudy days, in indirect sunlight.😀
They seem to work fine on cloudy days. Not sure if they are”Polly”?

Thanks for watching. Installed 275,000. But this being Thailand, it is negotiable and you will get discounted if you are persistent.
@@latandmike my mom tells me the same about being persistent "keep yapping"

Interesting place for a ground rod. I guess you will be rearranging your paving stones.
He actually pounded it down to the ground and covered it back up with the rocks, like there was nothing ever there.

Iff he tells you you have to live the rest off your life with $2000 a month.
Yes but not forget the exchange rate.
It can flip.
We are happy with it so far. When not rain season we are seeing a cut of 3000 baht a month.
What was the cost of the system? Was it a 5 kw on grid? I live in Nong Khai and am thinking of putting in solar.
195,000 Baht. 5KW on grid. System states savings of 40%. When the bill comes it’s half of what it used to be.

Just curious to see if it’s worth it for us.
At 1100 a month I wouldn’t. ROI would take probably 10 years. Ours was 6500 now on average 3200 so we will see ROI in 4 to 5 years. Hope this helps.
Did you sign up for FIT (feed in tariff) and/or have 1phase digital electric meter?
