    The monkey fist knot is most often used as the weight in a heaving line. Heaving line is a lightweight line with a weight at the end, made to be thrown between a ship and the shore, or from one ship to another, and used to pull a heavier line across. The line would have the monkey fist on one end, an eye splice or bowline on the other with about 30 feet of line between. A lightweight feeder line would be tied to the bowline, then the weighted monkey fist could be hurled between ship and dock. The other end of the lightweight line would be attached to a heaver-weight line, allowing it to be drawn to the target easily.
    Tying Procedure:
    1. Wrap the cord four times around four of your fingers.
    2. Make four more turns around the first turns. It helps if you remove two middle fingers from the knot to make space for the cord.
    3. Pass the cord through the middle.
    4. Pass the cord back around the middle..
    5. Make four turns around the middle.
    6. Tie an overhand knot at the end of the line. Alternatively you can use some use other round object as a core.
    7. Tuck the overhand knot or the round object in the middle.
    8. Tighten the knot by pulling on the next turn until reaching the end of the line.

    Paracord? That is Polypropylene Diamond Braid Rope. Paracord has a 7 tri twisted strand inner core. Hence 550 cord it can withstand 550 lbs of weight at some point or another maybe more . Survival cords are sweet like some are 12!strand and you get a metal wire fishing line , tinder strand maybe a couple other types

      You can tie a big knot at the end of the rope instead of a ball.

    Good video but kinda a dumb knot. Definitely useful for heaving a rope into trees etc. but the time and patience it takes is not something you can really use without good rope and lots of practice.

    Sorry, watching in silence. Isn’t that an illegal thing to do in America? Monkey fists are only allowed with no core bro.

  • @wendyraines8011
    @wendyraines8011 3 года назад +4

    One. NO self respecting BM would EVER use paracord😨. it has to be 3 strands and right laid cordage. Second, no ball unless its a lead one. Finally, a monkey's fist have 2 bitter ends that can be spliced or finished off with some small stuff. As tied here, its strictly ornamental.
