i have watched hundreds of you tube video's often for educational purposes, this is the absolute best. Makers of video's should watch this to see how it should be done. Thank you so much, now I'm off to make my very own monkeys fist knot.
HOLY SMOKERS!!!!! That last finishing knot was a doosey!!!!!! You are an incredible instructor. What I wonder is how someone came up with these knots, they are so intricate. Thank you for showing how this is done.
Mark, you are a great instructor. I tried this knot last week but couldn't get it because of distractions in the house. With peace and quiet, I mastered it. Thank you, it came out beautiful.
Thank you for your kind comment and especially for accomplishing this project! It is not the easiest one out there, you really need some patience to do it. Mark
I'm not sure how I landed on your channel but it was a happy accident! I wish all tutorials were as well made and clear as yours. Thank you for sharing! Love both the fobs.
Thank you for your kind comments! The gaucho knot is not easy to demonstrate, so I am really glad it worked for you! Tying a 2 strand gaucho is not a small accomplishment, you should be very proud! Mark
Woww... Feeling incredible and amazed to have your recognition! I must say your tutorials are clear, succinct and thorough. All credits go to you Mark! You're doing a great work making lives more beautiful. I applaud you!!
I love this knot, it looks very complicated to assemble but it needs full concentration,.. thank you for sharing i will attached a wooden crucifix at the end of the goucho key chain,.. Amazing,..!!! So beautiful,..
Hi Mark, Your videos and explanations are the best on RUclips! You are very easy to follow even for a new person to this like me! Thanks for the videos! Tom
What an excellent work of demonstration.👍👍👍 Thank you a lot dear Mark!! My heart jumps up with rejoice when I followed your illustration step by step and finally got it done beautifully.
I liked it very much, thanks for the gaucho knot!! I would only suggest, (only because it would help me greatly), using two colors for the gaucho, it might make it easier to follow, that being said, thanks again, great knot.
I can’t tell if he’s flipping the center strings that are holding the monkey fist, so it appears that both strands are being fed through the same loops. Is that not correct? I think that’s why the other commenter was saying to use different colors. Once it’s knotted it’s hard to tell where one strand begins and the other ends, and which is the right and left sides. And when the hands cover the work, one loses sight of the organization.
It would help if the center and the working ends were all different colors (paint or highlighter) so you could more easily follow the pattern of which cord gets looped over and under the other strands.
Excellent demonstration. I made one while I was sitting watching you. I made one mistake and only have 3 rows on one side. But it still looks pretty good for a first time. Thank you. God bless you.
Thanks Mark, I love your work, and I’ve been watching for a long time. I have to ask you, that marlin spike is one of the nicest I’ve seen, what brand is it. Not many high quality knife companies are making them anymore. The nicest one I’ve seen recently was a Camillus from the late 60’s with the box, when they were still being made in NY state. Beautiful knife, but it was over $200. It was new in box, never used. $200 is a bit steep though.
I really enjoy your videos. Thanks!! I am having a lot of trouble with the Gaucho knot, its hard to see how to start the change of direction on the ends. Thanks again for all the videos!!
Do you make these and sell them please comment back would love to know I know I would buy 2 or 3 of them if the price is reasonable please let me know thank you for this video
Mark... how about a 4 strand Gaucho tutorial? I'm coming up empty handed looking for one. Cheers! I presume the Gaucho knot can be made longer by increasing the number of initial wraps around the core strands, as long as it's an odd number?
I like this knot very much but it seems like the marble could shatter after being dropped or cracked if hit hard enough. A razor sharp edge could result, not pleasant for the carrier or an unfortunate soul who pestered for a knot on the head. A wood core throws quite well with light line attached to it.
Thank you! Also i was watching another of your videos regarding the 6 loop key ring and I now cannot locate. Would you please send me link to your video on that. Thanks again.
Hey! That is a marline spike. In this case it is a part of a knife. I really like it and it is quite affordable as well. It is a great tool for tying knots, tightening and such. Mark
Hi everyone, I just received the 3mm cotton cordage from paracord planet and it doesn't work. Does anyone know where I can get the 3 mm cordage like Mark shows in the video?
wait wait wait... i was making fun of this other dude for asking where he got this special rope - which looks exactly like a slightly "thinner" version of every piece of rope i've ever seen at every hardware store in america, or on every boat i've ever been on.... someone please educate me bc clearly the joke's on me... who the hell is mikko snellman, and what's so special about his rope?

I’m just starting and am going to use a crochet hook to help feed the ends through when finishing.
