Mini-LED TV refers to a television that uses miniaturized light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to backlight the display panel instead of traditional full-sized LED lights. This allows for a higher number of smaller LEDs to be placed closer together, which results in better local dimming and improved contrast levels compared to conventional LED/LCD TVs. Mini-LED technology is seen as a step up from traditional LED/LCD displays, offering deeper blacks and brighter whites, and greater control over the lighting of individual parts of the screen. This results in a more immersive viewing experience with improved picture quality, particularly in darker scenes. Until MICRO-LED becomes available, mini-LED provides superior colors, contrast, and brightness.
I can see a difference in the black levels. You can see it as some `blooming` around the honey dipper on the X95K at 0:38 seconds into the video. It's a slight blue glow that is not present on the OLED from LG. I've just brought the 2021 Sony A80J OLED for a tad under £1000. Best TV I've ever owned and recommend it wholeheartedly.
I feel like I can't see things on the LG - like dark scenes appear too dark in movies like Batman. Even with the brightness amped all the way. Definitely leaning towards mini-LED. Can't wait to see micro-LED!
