Hospitals buy art. I don’t know how it works, exactly, but a friend sold a big abstract to a hospital for $17,000 (and no, it wasn’t a mental hospital)!
Suddenly widowed with huge debts left behind I HAVE to restart my artist's life. It is wonderful to have to work consistently, and it occured to us (son and me) that we didn't need those horrid exhibitions or the art dealers any more now we have The Web. Your blog about starting as an artist suddenly popped up on my You Tube. I thought I would be too grand to accept advice...I was SOO wrong! Your blog has enthused and cheered me.. even though I don't do animal paintings ! Thanks a bunch. From an artist living in the USA but yearning for home in England and my little house in France.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. You and your son are right, there is now an entire world of potential collectors of your work. Both Ady and myself are so happy to hear we helped in some small way to motivate you 😊 I don't paint animals either but have been told people do see creatures and the like in my paintings 😁 Take care my friend and welcome to the Swarez family 😉
You are such a fantastic artist/ man l really appreciate the 5 points you talked about to get going on your art. So many paintings, you are a master artist 💜🤍💙💕♥️☘️☘️
So true I started creating in my family's livingroom constantly distracted, people talking, interrupting, and my sister always making passive aggressive remarks about my being there. I was sleeping on the couch. It sucked. Get a space even if you rent a small bedroom from someone.
Nikolas Flame Art I work in my huge studio. It’s 6 feet by 4 feet. Very spacious. I’m surrounded by inspirational boxes of junk you’d store in a garage or attic. I can step back, lean against a comfortable cardboard box, and admire or sneer at my output.
Thank you so much for sharing~~~love love your work~~~you give many of us inspiration. I am learning abstract~~~I used to work with oils and landscape, but stopped years ago. This past year, I've watched hours of video demos and how to use acrylics. My abstracts are fun, not great, but fun. I am 65 and suffer from depression and abstract art is saving me. We lost our Mom in March~~she was 92 years young and I miss her so much. I did not realize how much this type of art makes my soul very happy and I am learning so much more from you~~~because I feel your excitement and enthusiasm, as you speak about your passion!! Bless your heart. Sincerely, Diane
Thanks Clarence, much appreciated, we are however in a different location now with slightly less space, we are are still painting and experimenting though! 😁
Thanks, really helpful. Just trying to launch, feeling very insecure about social media. Great suggestion about a building up a body of work. That’s what I am trying to do now.
I loved the technique .i too tried it out and also continued painting with card and made roses and another one with a blue vase and flowers .i wish i coild show you the photos of my work too. I am super excited .
First & foremost your art is beautiful. Thank you for existing & simply sharing such priceless advice. The art world has saved my life & is a glimmer of light. When the words have been exhausted, the art speaks. Rock on & happy Independence Day 🇺🇸
Excellent tips! The getting respect from your family part is a serious challenge, and I await the sacred moment of getting a seperate workspace. I absolutely Love seeing how you've grown and thrived in your studio over the years. You are an Inspiration, and kudos to your partner there too.
At the moment, I'm just learning and trying to figure out the things I enjoy working on the most. Then refine it from there on. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge, it's part of my learning. 😊
Great advice ... No one ever talks about the elephant in the room ... As a beginner artist ... I LOVE large format abstract ... But canvases are so expensive, and materials ... And then getting them framed ... This is what i struggle with ... Thank you for your work.
You are so refreshing. I really like how approachable and helpful you are. You don't have an arrogant attitude that a lot of successful artists can have (not all of course). Thank you for your help!
I could just walk around your studio for hours! You would have to tell me it's time to leave because it's closing time 😂😂😂 I'm so glad I bumped into your you tube channel! Now it's time to make amazing art. Love ❤
Thanks for your great tips and a clerifying presentation. Im planning a exhibition i mars i Stockholm an these where absolutely godd and info of value! Stefan

@@SwarezArt i was listening to you but, my eyes were more focused on the art. I live in the next county. So I will probably go through all your videos .
Thank you for these informative videos - I took a break from Art making when my husband had cancer then died in 2019...I know some of this, but it was good to be reminded that I CAN do this thing - I have before, I shall again.
Excellent advice. Thanks. I create pet portraits and just as you suggested I started with learning from other artists and then creating portraits for my family members. Just starting to get some interest from paying customers now 👍.
Thanks Carlos - although nothing has ever come from me wandering around it is still my work space so it makes sense to keep it as interesting as i can for the viewer. Be a bit boring if I sat in my office the whole time!
I ve been following your channel for a while and I m very glad I " discovered" you. You manage to inspire so many people, you make everything appear so easily, Thanks a lot!
Hello! Thank you very much for your advice, I've been watching some of your videos lately and they have helped me try to focus on my work. I still have not been able to achieve a greater number of followers in my social networks, it has taken me a lot to try to divide the time between the daily work, the time that I can devote to painting and at the same time try to manage networks etc. But little by little I am improving that based on trial and error! The most important thing for me right now is to focus on point 2. The body of work. Thanks!
Thanks Papaya - it is hard sometimes and can be very difficult to juggle everything at once. We all find a balance and the key is to be consistent and regular with everything. keep at it, do something every day no matter how small. The work is so important. Wishing you well.
Thanks for the tips, clear, concise. I started with facebook, instagram a few years back and have moved to my own website. I particularly like the fact you said about "finding your Potential buyers", thanks again..
It’s been five years, and I’m back to revisit the foundational lessons that played a crucial role in launching my body of work. Thank you, Swarez!
Wonderful! Thank you!
Hospitals buy art. I don’t know how it works, exactly, but a friend sold a big abstract to a hospital for $17,000 (and no, it wasn’t a mental hospital)!
really?
that's a great idea.
I’ve been to so many hospitals with honestly GREAT art and it just made me wonder if it’s just reused or basic art or genuinely one of a kind
I hope it's not money laundering 😂
Well that doesn't surprise me. A hospital is a company as well.
I've seen so many abstract painting that just leave me cold, but yours are beautiful and so varied. Also, thanks for these good tips.
My pleasure 😊 and thanks for your kind words
