Both governed under different Grand Lodge jurisdictions. You must first be a Master Mason to join the Scottish Rite in America at least. Swedish rite I’m less familiar with, but I do understand it is more “comparable” to the Blue lodges of PH or AFAM lodges. Hope this helps.
