Not a regular NRI and I don't have any wish to return home just yet or maybe ever. I don't live in the UK or USA though...I have lived and worked in different countries (not all of them were western countries). My child grew up in 5 different countries, goes to an international school with kids from 60 different countries, and feels at home in different cultures. His best friends are British and Colombian. A true third culture kid. He speaks his Indian mother tongue fluently at home, English with an accent, and Spanish. He plans to study in Europe after school and doesn't want to settle in India either. I find the quality of life to be much, much higher abroad and you get to be who you are. Yes, we miss our families back home but they visit and they understand and respect our choices. Not all NRIs go abroad just to make money (I am an educator, so definitely not in for the money) or work in IT:-) I love my life and I know how privileged I am to have lived in some amazing places and have met some amazing people along the way. Won't trade this life for anything.
This! This is exactly what I think is the right way of living abroad. I am so glad you are living like this and your kid is getting such amazing exposure from such a young age. A lot of people outside India are seeking the same things they seek back in India which ultimately results in disappointment
This might sound great to you but not for your child. It’s possible that what he needs is stability. I am a result of similar experiences due to my father moving often. Sure I had good exposure but all it ever did for me was leave me confused. I don’t know where I belong and what I’m supposed to dedicate myself to…..both professionally and personally.
My major problem with India is that the cities are unlivable -- No waste management, unpaved footpaths, pollution, no traffic rules, bad roads in the cities, overpopulated and unhygienic.
Exactly, I've been saying for years, as soon as India solves its waste disposal and sewage problem, it will be raking in the money from tourism alone. Building infrastructure is the quickest way to lift a country out of poverty. Just think of the number of jobs doing that alone would create, and the more educated a population, the more secure that country would be. India has been "independent" now for almost 80 years, that's almost a century and it's still mired in poverty owing to bad policies. In the '30's, Germany went from post WWI destitution to becoming the economic powerhouse in Europe within eight short years. They had nothing, most of the population was starving, there were no jobs, nothing. But in only eight short years they lifted themselves up out of that deprivation while every other European country was mired in post-war poverty. It was termed an economic miracle. If Germany could do it, so can India. The political will needs to be there and the parasitic central banksters kicked out of the country.

I am an Indian living in UK.... I dont know much about Canada.... But for me I would always choose India over UK...... N the following are the reasons for the same 1) Education - Indian & UK... Both are good (I am from Kerala which has good education system) 2) Healthcare - India anyday ( UK has good quality healthcare, but we have to wait 3-4 days or maybe months depends on what service you want) 3) Jobs - India & UK .... Both are good 4) Purchasing Power - India is far better. You can buy much more things in India with Indian salary than in Uk with Uk salary. 5) Quality of Life - UK. For Sure 6) Freedom - Both countries are equally good. 7) Internet - Both countries are good 8) Banking - India is better (More options in credit cards, less rate on loans and less fees on transcations) 9) Pollution - UK is better. But depends on where you are in India. Since I am from Kerala, I dont feel its a big issue. But Indian Cities are polluted. I agree. 10) Housing - India anyday. Uk is a nightmare for house buyers. Only 55 percent of people own house here compared to 85 perent in India. So Overall both are similar. But I will choose India because of my family and friends. Note: I agree with most of your points about India. But the points about freedom of speech & housing was not correct. Democratic values in India is still intact. Farmers protest lately and Hijab protest are examples of that. I come from kerala , where protests are like usual thing. So democracy is still intact. Dont worry. N regarding housing. Bro..... I’m in Canada since 2011, now a citizen, wife and me well settled, But not really happy here, personally what I have experienced is, those who come from stressed life for example, that congested and BhagDaud wali life in Mumbai, or from very lower middle class families these people feel good here, Most of the people I see just keep on adjusting everything here, super cold weather but they say it is fine, huge taxes, but they’re fine, even a faucet replacement or any plumbing issue you endup paying high labor charges, if planning to some changes/renovations you need to think of those high labour charges, Most of here are living to show off we live in abroad, we use iPhone we drink Starbucks and all that bla bla bla, If you have good income or business stay in the lively India with parents. At last Life is not big as you think, time goes fast. Here it is cold, so silent and depressing. The weather kills you from inside. On the top Govt is so illogical kills the hard worker and gives out free money to minimum wage people. Off course there are some negative points back home too but with my calculations India is better specially now. Will move soon.

India is great for visiting and exploring. Not for living. The work culture is toxic and there are many restrictions on doing business. You pay tax and it goes it waste. All the advantages that India had were turned into waste by tea seller.

I was in usa for 10 years and moved back to India 5 years back. I feel it's the best decision we ever made. My dad passed away last year and I was glad to have been there during his last days. Moving to US & Canada is good in aspirational years - more money, close to big decision makers, good infrastructure & beautiful landscapes. It's when things go wrong, you see how much ugliness is under the carpet in USA. Imagine getting tangled in a litigation or an illness or an accident or something serious in USA. My parents never visited USA. I was put under immense pressure at work due to some politics which affected my health immensely .I left my job with a serious health condition and guess what I only had my wife to take care of me. It might sound rare but when you live at a place for 10-20 years you are bound to face some serious challenge healthwise, careerwise,moneywise or otherwise. Its when you need people for support, laws made keeping you in mind one realizes what a heaven India or your home country is.
Good for you. You did the right thing. The West is on a rapid decline. It will soon be a third world shithole but more degenerate - you pay taxes through your nose, work like a dog with not much to show for it at the end of the day. At least in India, the last time I visited, people own their homes outright because they're affordable, which is how it should be. They're not slaves to the bank paying off a mortgage. Most people in the villages also have their own fields where they grow their crops. No such thing in the West where land is concentrated in only a few hands. If you don't have land, you are de facto a slave. I agree, there is a lot more freedom in India but if the parasites who have infiltrated the West have their way with India, as they already have their tentacles inside that country, they will do to India what they have done to the West.

this is about Delhi not all of India, there are great places elsewhere in India... and the US and Canada is way more violent than anywhere in India, in US cities shootings, murders and other crimes are very common. Home affordability is probably the worst in the world in Canada. Heck, you can't even afford to rent in Canada now. So, I think you're looking at the West way too favorably, there are a huge number of issues in the US and Canada as well.

I left India for: Ofcourse better pay. But more than that, 1. Respect in the work place and work life balance. 2. Safety in the road. 3. Public transport which is fast and reliable and safe. 4. Food safety. 5. Social care. 6. Cleaner water and environment. 7. Civic sense 8. Very low office politics. 9. Taxation and benefits out of tax. 10. Education and opportunities. 11. Very low corruption. 12. Cleaner processes across government offices. What is can get in India if i come back: 1. Easier life - having a driver, helper etc 2. Health care - fast and cheap. Great video, and completely valid points! : ) There's a large subjective component to this experience. Because I've been in Canada for 13 years, and fully acclimated, but I thought I was in depression for 8 years. I took a very long trip to India and realized I wasn't depressed at all. So much of the depression was driven by financial instability / drain in Canada. I've barely been able to save in Ontario with no family, no generation wealth, single income household... I think twice whenever I buy fruits here, I don't eat out, I have to be frugal, and I and most youth can not see a future in Canada. Homes are absolutely unaffordable and even if you manage to get one it's a continuous liability - maintenance and property taxes being as high as rent. In India I felt so relaxed, I could afford everything, ate a lot of fruits, bought whatever I wanted, even homes are reasonable and I got a 3br condo in a gated complex with a pool & gym for 80k$, in the GTA the average is 800k-1M$. I'm from Goa, so I guess it's a bit more progressive compared to many other parts of India. I earn remotely so the huge advantage is earning in dollar, and converting it to INR. I'm also a hermit and an introvert, so when I'm at home, or at the beach, all the issues of India fades into the background. Me working, relaxing, and creating - be it at home in Canada, or India makes little difference until I leave the house. The only difference is Canada bleeds me dry when it comes to rent, insurance, taxes, vs India where I don't feel like I'm being bled to simply exist on this planet. I did the math on an excel spreadsheet, and 1 year of expenses in Canada, lasts 7-8 years in India. Which means every one year of expenses, buys me 6-7 years of free time... free time to live life, come up with business ideas, enjoy a better quality of life. I guess some have done well for themselves in Canada, but for me personally what I've saved up with be gone in 2-3 years if I lose my job. The issues I have with India is there's no civic sense, garbage is everywhere, air is polluted indeed (less in Goa, but I hate seeing garbage, rubber, and plastic burned openly in villages). Regarding women safety, Canada doesn't feel very safe either. Once when I was coming back late form university, a homeless druggy was molesting a student (at Hamilton). I would always stay back because the school computers had Adobe Creative Suite, and it costed 1000$ , so I'd do my homework and return late at night. I had music turned up high, and initially thought it was a couple making out. Then realized she was crying / screaming, and no one was around to help. Threw him off her, walked her to the bus stop, and made sure she left. Worst part is you risk an assault charge for defending yourself with a knife or pepper spray, or these criminals get anonymity, because Canada treats their criminals so well. Just watch Canadian true crime... You'd be surprised what horrible things happen in the GTA. Like a man who kidnapped and r*ped a child in GTA, and after that went to home depot, bought a hack saw, cut the child up, and packed her body into the seat cushion of the car. You probably didn't hear about it, because this is how Canadian media is. Shit barely gets coverage, and Criminals get lesser offenses. My cousin's boyfriend's dad was murdered in Canada, shot when he was leaving his home in the ghetto part of Toronto, and the criminal got 2nd degree murder, with probation and a lesser charge. There are so many registered sex offenders around you, and you wouldn't know about it until there's a repeat offense. The problem is more perceptible in India because of the gendered attitudes itself so it's feels more ingrained in culture, vs the west.

I think its best to go abroad once to sample what it feels like. You might just click with the country and moving there might become the best decision. You can always go back to India if you don't like it. My biggest gripe with moving back is women’s safety. Being a working woman who does not have the option to work from home and also a mother to a girl. I am worried i will succumb to the anxiety of having to work out the day to day logistics to ensure mine and my daughter’s safety

I stay in US and work in one of the FAAMG. Will 100% return to India in next few years. I came on a intra company transfer from Bangalore. What I observe is standing in 2024, most people who have migrated from India are unsuccessful in their country. There is nothing in Canada to boast about. Reverse immigration is highest in Canada because of lack of jobs, broken healthcare system, harsh weather conditions and racism. With all due respect, I probably will never ever live and work in Canada. End of the day, I will always be proud to be an Indian. My country has issues and own set of problems but is shining in many ways. Waiting for the day to be permanently back to home.

We have lost our people and literature. So, I don’t mind waiting and making slow progress. For me personally, the reason why I'd never move back to India is for my safety. India sucks if you aren't a straight Hindu male, people like to pretend it's not a thing, but it is. Was in high school in India, realised I was trans and the idea of staying in India haunted me where people would constantly deny my existence. Moved to Canada the moment I graduated high school for my undergrad. Best decision I had ever made. I've never been happier. High school always felt lonely and the only three friends I had were queer students from different sections. I've grown so much since moving here, and it's only been like 7 months. I work in luxury retail right now and I love my job and my coworkers, I've also only ever worked for expensive fashion brands. I'm out and transitioning and it's really nice. My college and the staff are incredibly supportive. Sure, it is expensive to live here and the housing prices do drive me nuts, but the housing is horrid everywhere else right now, be it Ireland, UK, NZ, or even India. It can be hard to leave your family or your partner (my girlfriend) back home. It can be difficult sometimes to find queer-friendly housing but in general, it is a whole lot less suffocating. Find it weird when so many Indian students complain about life here, some make a big deal out of having to do dishes even lol. I have ADHD and I'm doing just fine. If anything, my college has helped me access special accommodations for my ADHD, helped me get meds, name changes, and even HRT. For someone like me, this place is everything so yeah, never moving back once I finish my undergrad.
This is a really biased video. Housing in the US and Canada is much more expensive than in India. Someone buying a 20 Cr house doesn't equate to the housing market being expensive. You questioning this rather shows your typical Western mindset that everyone in India is poor and can't buy big and pricey homes. There are thousands of million-dollar properties in N America. Many of them are highly inflated due to the housing boom that occurred after the pandemic. Do you ever question that? Coming to farmer's protests or lack of free speech, some form of that pretty much exists in the entire world. Every country has its own issues and you cannot compare India to Canada they are different in so many aspects. No country is perfect. And what are the discriminations that you observed towards minorities? Are they not enjoying the same benefits? Is the government policy different based on your religion? How was the country better before? All we heard on TV was one scandal after another? And were women safer back in the day? A fellow Indian turned Canadian here. To your freedom comment on how someone against the govt is considered anti-national, thats true. I am an OCI and I have stopped posting political stuff on social media fearing the same. But I dont know if you have noticed, its the same in western countries about LGBTQ. I mean try protesting against things you dont like about that community that impacts you or your kids, you would see the hate. So somewhere I see a similarity maybe just different parallels. Indian management is the worst to work under .. Cant agree more. Indians in Canada included as well What bothers me more about my last trip to India was the level of energy people waste on unimportant things. For example- An employee leaves home with 100% energy, 20% gets lost in traffic and bad roads, 20% on the lack of civic sensibilities of folks on the street and then reaches office and technically start their day at work with 60% efficiency. People in India wont get this unless they have travelled to a country thats well managed. That explains the anger you have cited. Ofcourse they would be angry. Public feels police is stealing, police feels public is idiot, doctor feels patients are dumb, patient feels doctors are cheating. Its a nationalistic hate. India is an amazing place for a vacation or maybe staying and working for a few years when you feel identity crisis. But once you have tasted the better you cannot move back. It's definitely a personal choice, but I disagree with many points in this video. There are definitely pros and cons to any country. But India is a better place to be in many ways in the current situation of what is happening in Canada. Canada is facing many problems with housing, inflation, crime, drugs & homelessness, unemployment and many more. So picking the negative is not justified. It's not a fact, but painting a Rosie picture of the other country gives false hope to many watching this video. I stayed in 2 other Western countries apart from Canada, and I can still say that there are a lot of positive reasons to move back to India, who chooses to.
There are definitely pros and cons to everything and I have also pointed out the pros of living right at the start of the video. Yes, Canada is not perfect but each of our reasons for moving out or moving back are different. Where I find financial freedom to be more important, someone might find staying close to family more important. No country is perfect. We choose our own reasons to stay or move.

You have done an amazing job by saying your piece. A ton of ppl I know wouldn't say what you did. Also, I am able to hear some context as to why moving back to India is not a good idea. There are quite a few video's on utube with ppl who say they have left Canada and went back to India, and thy cite the positive reasons to justify their choice. Just as you did to justify why you decided to not move back to India. But the only difference is that you listed both the positives and negatives. I like your balanced approach. To be fair moving back to India to access manual labour for dirty cheap cost is not really appealing. What truly would be appealing is the ability to earn in volumes as one would elsewhere in the world. But this is just not the case. Plus, even if it were possible, having to endure the pollution regardless of how much you earn is a deal breaker. And it is only going to get worse as India is clamoring to replace China as the next greatest manufacturing hub, which only means more pollution. Plus, regardless of how you slice or dice it there are deep tensions between the two major religions in India. And it is not going to magically just go away. In fact, these tensions have only gotten stronger lately. Plus, the corruption issue....enough said. Plus, the cost of living in India is getting so so much harder, with millions of ppl living is such precarious conditions. I can totally see why, the US, UK, Aus, and Canada have a huge influx of Indians. Anyone, given half a chance to come to any of these countries, would grab it with both hands and will not let go. All of these countries including India, have similar challenges, but for all it's challenges, you can still make it in one of these countries, without having to deal with the religious issue, the pollution issue, the corruption issue, and the sheer amount of ppl you have to compete against in India.

Actually India is great place to live in tier 2/3 cities now with much better connectivity of roads, very cheap WiFi,good and cheap healthcare roads ,solar, good staff IE cook, maid,driver etc. One can even stay in smaller towns around Mumbai,Pune, Bangaluru, Mysore,Goa, Baroda etc. India is quite a different place now than what it was a couple of decades ago.

All points are correct except the points about intolerance and free speech . There are so many memes of BJP on a daily basis in social media and there are news channels from the left that criticize the govt on a daily basis , none of them are persecuted for that. You can literally say anything about BJP and get away with it. I have a family watsapp group that shares some joke or meme about the government every other day and nobody is in trouble. If you don't believe, just search for hate comments against the government in Instagram, FB, Twitter. The govt doesn't care about all that and definitely doesn't penalize you for having a opinion . Saying otherwise is just a blatant lie. In the farmers protest the protestors blocked a major highway for almost a year and the government allowed it patiently , no other country would have been that patient for that long..for eg: compare it with the 'truckers protest' in Canada and read about how the Trudeau handled it. The government believed in its laws and stuck by it. While farmer unions from agriculture rich states like Haryana and Punjab opposed the laws , there were many smaller unions from other states that saw benefits in the laws. Personally I feel the laws had both pros and cons. Also, you forgot to mention the govt had 11 rounds of talks with the unions. The way you described this complicated incident with so much of details left out just shows your ignorance on the topic or you are simply misinformed. And the point that minorities are treated badly is not true either. Minorities are treated the same as any other citizen, only the rich and famous get special treatment in this country(ur religion doesn't matter). A middle class/poor muslim/christian lives the same life and has the same opportunities to education ,healthecare and everything else as a middle class/poor hindu person .There is no discrimination in any sector. If you can prove to me this is not true, I'm ready to listen. Saying minorities are treated badly in india is the same as saying indians are treated badly in Canada just coz some random white dude made racist remark against some indian somewhere. Its standard is so bad that students in 6th/7th grade don't know basic LCM-GCD concepts, and that's just one example.. Secularism is not a word of English dictionary. It is not in the constitution of any other democratic country. It was asserted by Congress/Nehru who himself became first PM of India in an undemocratic way (Check the election of Karobari committee where Nehru got just 2 votes and Sardar Patel was wholly elected as PM but Nehru played a game). Secularism would have made sense if India was not divided. Why secularism when they took separate country on the name or religion? Secularism was killed as soon as India was divided.
One thing i can see is that, the whole negative aspects are only focused on Delhi or North india majorly. I understand her views, but yeah everything will improve as well, but canada is also degrading a lot these days much more than india.
Not a regular NRI and I don't have any wish to return home just yet or maybe ever. I don't live in the UK or USA though...I have lived and worked in different countries (not all of them were western countries). My child grew up in 5 different countries, goes to an international school with kids from 60 different countries, and feels at home in different cultures. His best friends are British and Colombian. A true third culture kid. He speaks his Indian mother tongue fluently at home, English with an accent, and Spanish. He plans to study in Europe after school and doesn't want to settle in India either. I find the quality of life to be much, much higher abroad and you get to be who you are. Yes, we miss our families back home but they visit and they understand and respect our choices. Not all NRIs go abroad just to make money (I am an educator, so definitely not in for the money) or work in IT:-) I love my life and I know how privileged I am to have lived in some amazing places and have met some amazing people along the way. Won't trade this life for anything.

Exactly, I've been saying for years, as soon as India solves its waste disposal and sewage problem, it will be raking in the money from tourism alone. Building infrastructure is the quickest way to lift a country out of poverty. Just think of the number of jobs doing that alone would create, and the more educated a population, the more secure that country would be. India has been "independent" now for almost 80 years, that's almost a century and it's still mired in poverty owing to bad policies. In the '30's, Germany went from post WWI destitution to becoming the economic powerhouse in Europe within eight short years. They had nothing, most of the population was starving, there were no jobs, nothing. But in only eight short years they lifted themselves up out of that deprivation while every other European country was mired in post-war poverty. It was termed an economic miracle. If Germany could do it, so can India. The political will needs to be there and the parasitic central banksters kicked out of the country.

I am an Indian living in UK.... I dont know much about Canada.... But for me I would always choose India over UK...... N the following are the reasons for the same
1) Education - Indian & UK... Both are good (I am from Kerala which has good education system)
2) Healthcare - India anyday ( UK has good quality healthcare, but we have to wait 3-4 days or maybe months depends on what service you want)
3) Jobs - India & UK .... Both are good
4) Purchasing Power - India is far better. You can buy much more things in India with Indian salary than in Uk with Uk salary.
5) Quality of Life - UK. For Sure
6) Freedom - Both countries are equally good.
7) Internet - Both countries are good
8) Banking - India is better (More options in credit cards, less rate on loans and less fees on transcations)
9) Pollution - UK is better. But depends on where you are in India. Since I am from Kerala, I dont feel its a big issue. But Indian Cities are polluted. I agree.
10) Housing - India anyday. Uk is a nightmare for house buyers. Only 55 percent of people own house here compared to 85 perent in India.
So Overall both are similar. But I will choose India because of my family and friends.

So basically I am earning in pounds from UK and investing in india in Rupees (Since gdp growth is higher in India @ 7.5 percent) . I am doing that because I want to retire earlier....

I was in usa for 10 years and moved back to India 5 years back. I feel it's the best decision we ever made. My dad passed away last year and I was glad to have been there during his last days.

It's when things go wrong, you see how much ugliness is under the carpet in USA. Imagine getting tangled in a litigation or an illness or an accident or something serious in USA. My parents never visited USA. I was put under immense pressure at work due to some politics which affected my health immensely .I left my job with a serious health condition and guess what I only had my wife to take care of me. It might sound rare but when you live at a place for 10-20 years you are bound to face some serious challenge healthwise, careerwise,moneywise or otherwise.
Its when you need people for support, laws made keeping you in mind one realizes what a heaven India or your home country is.

At least in India, the last time I visited, people own their homes outright because they're affordable, which is how it should be. They're not slaves to the bank paying off a mortgage. Most people in the villages also have their own fields where they grow their crops. No such thing in the West where land is concentrated in only a few hands. If you don't have land, you are de facto a slave. I agree, there is a lot more freedom in India but if the parasites who have infiltrated the West have their way with India, as they already have their tentacles inside that country, they will do to India what they have done to the West.

this is about Delhi not all of India, there are great places elsewhere in India... and the US and Canada is way more violent than anywhere in India, in US cities shootings, murders and other crimes are very common. Home affordability is probably the worst in the world in Canada. Heck, you can't even afford to rent in Canada now. Because I've been in Canada for 13 years, and fully acclimated, but I thought I was in depression for 8 years. I took a very long trip to India and realized I wasn't depressed at all. So much of the depression was driven by financial instability / drain in Canada. I've barely been able to save in Ontario with no family, no generation wealth, single income household... I think twice whenever I buy fruits here, I don't eat out, I have to be frugal, and I and most youth can not see a future in Canada. Homes are absolutely unaffordable and even if you manage to get one it's a continuous liability - maintenance and property taxes being as high as rent. In India I felt so relaxed, I could afford everything, ate a lot of fruits, bought whatever I wanted, even homes are reasonable and I got a 3br condo in a gated complex with a pool & gym for 80k$, in the GTA the average is 800k-1M$. I'm from Goa, so I guess it's a bit more progressive compared to many other parts of India. I earn remotely so the huge advantage is earning in dollar, and converting it to INR. I'm also a hermit and an introvert, so when I'm at home, or at the beach, all the issues of India fades into the background. Me working, relaxing, and creating - be it at home in Canada, or India makes little difference until I leave the house. The only difference is Canada bleeds me dry when it comes to rent, insurance, taxes, vs India where I don't feel like I'm being bled to simply exist on this planet. I did the math on an excel spreadsheet, and 1 year of expenses in Canada, lasts 7-8 years in India. Which means every one year of expenses, buys me 6-7 years of free time... free time to live life, come up with business ideas, enjoy a better quality of life. I guess some have done well for themselves in Canada, but for me personally what I've saved up with be gone in 2-3 years if I lose my job.
The issues I have with India is there's no civic sense, garbage is everywhere, air is polluted indeed (less in Goa, but I hate seeing garbage, rubber, and plastic burned openly in villages). Regarding women safety, Canada doesn't feel very safe either. Once when I was coming back late form university, a homeless druggy was molesting a student (at Hamilton). I would always stay back because the school computers had Adobe Creative Suite, and it costed 1000$ , so I'd do my homework and return late at night. I had music turned up high, and initially thought it was a couple making out. Then realized she was crying / screaming, and no one was around to help. Threw him off her, walked her to the bus stop, and made sure she left. Worst part is you risk an assault charge for defending yourself with a knife or pepper spray, or these criminals get anonymity, because Canada treats their criminals so well. Just watch Canadian true crime... You'd be surprised what horrible things happen in the GTA. Like a man who kidnapped and r*ped a child in GTA, and after that went to home depot, bought a hack saw, cut the child up, and packed her body into the seat cushion of the car. You probably didn't hear about it, because this is how Canadian media is. Shit barely gets coverage, and Criminals get lesser offenses. My cousin's boyfriend's dad was murdered in Canada, shot when he was leaving his home in the ghetto part of Toronto, and the criminal got 2nd degree murder, with probation and a lesser charge. There are so many registered sex offenders around you, and you wouldn't know about it until there's a repeat offense. The problem is more perceptible in India because of the gendered attitudes itself so it's feels more ingrained in culture, vs the west.

I stay in US and work in one of the FAAMG. Will 100% return to India in next few years. I came on a intra company transfer from Bangalore. What I observe is standing in 2024, most people who have migrated from India are unsuccessful in their country. There is nothing in Canada to boast about. Reverse immigration is highest in Canada because of lack of jobs, broken healthcare system, harsh weather conditions and racism. With all due respect, I probably will never ever live and work in Canada. End of the day, I will always be proud to be an Indian. My country has issues and own set of problems but is shining in many ways. Waiting for the day to be permanently back to home.

For me personally, the reason why I'd never move back to India is for my safety. India sucks if you aren't a straight Hindu male, people like to pretend it's not a thing, but it is. Was in high school in India, realised I was trans and the idea of staying in India haunted me where people would constantly deny my existence. Moved to Canada the moment I graduated high school for my undergrad. Best decision I had ever made. I've never been happier. High school always felt lonely and the only three friends I had were queer students from different sections. I've grown so much since moving here, and it's only been like 7 months. I work in luxury retail right now and I love my job and my coworkers, I've also only ever worked for expensive fashion brands. I'm out and transitioning and it's really nice. My college and the staff are incredibly supportive.
Sure, it is expensive to live here and the housing prices do drive me nuts, but the housing is horrid everywhere else right now, be it Ireland, UK, NZ, or even India. It can be hard to leave your family or your partner (my girlfriend) back home. It can be difficult sometimes to find queer-friendly housing but in general, it is a whole lot less suffocating. Find it weird when so many Indian students complain about life here, some make a big deal out of having to do dishes even lol. I have ADHD and I'm doing just fine. If anything, my college has helped me access special accommodations for my ADHD, helped me get meds, name changes, and even HRT. For someone like me, this place is everything so yeah, never moving back once I finish my undergrad.

A fellow Indian turned Canadian here. To your freedom comment on how someone against the govt is considered anti-national, thats true. I am an OCI and I have stopped posting political stuff on social media fearing the same. But I dont know if you have noticed, its the same in western countries about LGBTQ. What bothers me more about my last trip to India was the level of energy people waste on unimportant things.
For example- An employee leaves home with 100% energy, 20% gets lost in traffic and bad roads, 20% on the lack of civic sensibilities of folks on the street and then reaches office and technically start their day at work with 60% efficiency. People in India wont get this unless they have travelled to a country thats well managed. That explains the anger you have cited. Ofcourse they would be angry. Public feels police is stealing, police feels public is idiot, doctor feels patients are dumb, patient feels doctors are cheating. Its a nationalistic hate.

It's definitely a personal choice, but I disagree with many points in this video. There are definitely pros and cons to any country. But India is a better place to be in many ways in the current situation of what is happening in Canada. Canada is facing many problems with housing, inflation, crime, drugs & homelessness, unemployment and many more. So picking the negative is not justified. It's not a fact, but painting a Rosie picture of the other country gives false hope to many watching this video. I stayed in 2 other Western countries apart from Canada, and I can still say that there are a lot of positive reasons to move back to India, who chooses to.

You have done an amazing job by saying your piece. A ton of ppl I know wouldn't say what you did. Also, I am able to hear some context as to why moving back to India is not a good idea. There are quite a few video's on utube with ppl who say they have left Canada and went back to India, and thy cite the positive reasons to justify their choice. Just as you did to justify why you decided to not move back to India. But the only difference is that you listed both the positives and negatives. I like your balanced approach. To be fair moving back to India to access manual labour for dirty cheap cost is not really appealing. What truly would be appealing is the ability to earn in volumes as one would elsewhere in the world. But this is just not the case. Plus, even if it were possible, having to endure the pollution regardless of how much you earn is a deal breaker. And it is only going to get worse as India is clamoring to replace China as the next greatest manufacturing hub, which only means more pollution. Plus, regardless of how you slice or dice it there are deep tensions between the two major religions in India. And it is not going to magically just go away. In fact, these tensions have only gotten stronger lately. Plus, the corruption issue....enough said. Plus, the cost of living in India is getting so so much harder, with millions of ppl living is such precarious conditions. I can totally see why, the US, UK, Aus, and Canada have a huge influx of Indians. Anyone, given half a chance to come to any of these countries, would grab it with both hands and will not let go. All of these countries including India, have similar challenges, but for all it's challenges, you can still make it in one of these countries, without having to deal with the religious issue, the pollution issue, the corruption issue, and the sheer amount of ppl you have to compete against in India.

Wow my South Indian husband says the same thing. He worked professionally in India until he came to the US to earn his Masters. Sometimes as an American I joke and say let’s move to India and he tells me the work culture is toxic and he recognizes that even though India has fresh food and many family members , the western countries have more work life balance and opportunities for a better quality life. I didn't understood what you said here but as much I read from newspapers I came to know that Australia is suffering from Serious issues of housing crisis and rising abnormal inflation rates leading to homeless populations rise. In India housing costs are low and housing loans also charge legitimate and reasonable interest rates by banks .Indian Government also building free of costs well build house for poor class of the country it's an ongoing process by 2030 it will be completed. Actually India is great place to live in tier 2/3 cities now with much better connectivity of roads, very cheap WiFi,good and cheap healthcare roads ,solar, good staff IE cook, maid,driver etc. One can even stay in smaller towns around Mumbai,Pune, Bangaluru, Mysore,Goa, Baroda etc. India is quite a different place now than what it was a couple of decades ago.
Proud of myself that I leave that 💩 and settled in Italy. Phenomenal country. Living the best life . Best decision till date ❤

All points are correct except the points about intolerance and free speech . There are so many memes of BJP on a daily basis in social media and there are news channels from the left that criticize the govt on a daily basis , none of them are persecuted for that. You can literally say anything about BJP and get away with it. I have a family watsapp group that shares some joke or meme about the government every other day and nobody is in trouble. If you don't believe, just search for hate comments against the government in Instagram, FB, Twitter. The govt doesn't care about all that and definitely doesn't penalize you for having a opinion . Saying otherwise is just a blatant lie.
In the farmers protest the protestors blocked a major highway for almost a year and the government allowed it patiently , no other country would have been that patient for that long..for eg: compare it with the 'truckers protest' in Canada and read about how the Trudeau handled it. The government believed in its laws and stuck by it. While farmer unions from agriculture rich states like Haryana and Punjab opposed the laws , there were many smaller unions from other states that saw benefits in the laws. Personally I feel the laws had both pros and cons. Also, you forgot to mention the govt had 11 rounds of talks with the unions. The way you described this complicated incident with so much of details left out just shows your ignorance on the topic or you are simply misinformed.
And the point that minorities are treated badly is not true either. Minorities are treated the same as any other citizen, only the rich and famous get special treatment in this country(ur religion doesn't matter). A middle class/poor muslim/christian lives the same life and has the same opportunities to education ,healthecare and everything else as a middle class/poor hindu person .There is no discrimination in any sector. If you can prove to me this is not true, I'm ready to listen. Saying minorities are treated badly in india is the same as saying indians are treated badly in Canada just coz some random white dude made racist remark against some indian somewhere.

Secularism is not a word of English dictionary. It is not in the constitution of any other democratic country. It was asserted by Congress/Nehru who himself became first PM of India in an undemocratic way (Check the election of Karobari committee where Nehru got just 2 votes and Sardar Patel was wholly elected as PM but Nehru played a game). Secularism would have made sense if India was not divided. Why secularism when they took separate country on the name or religion? Secularism was killed as soon as India was divided.
