3:08 The LOWER the gauge number, the THICKER the steel. That means the 5 gauge pole on the Mega Slam and the Pro Dunk is thicker steel than the 7 gauge Ironclad.

16:00 Mega slam one that one. Those are Hideaway net locks. They protect your fingers when you dunk. My dad broke all his fingernails because of one dunk on a old school rim. It helps.

So the mega slam is the best?

This review is pretty bias towards Ironclad. Starting with the anchor bolts, they look exactly the same in the video but it states Ironclad is way better. The MegaSlam pole seems to be much better, with thickness, strength and extra gussets but the video says it's not much of a difference at all. The support arms look exactly the same and MegaSlam will be lighter as it's a foot shorter, I'm not sure this is a bad thing? I think it depends if you really want a 3' or 4' overhang. This video states the upper support arms are a huge difference but do these really make a difference how large or thick they are? MegaSlam will probably suffice and Ironclad may be overkill? The rest of the video states they parts between these 2 units probably come from the same factory, so they are probably the exact same parts. The big difference would then be cost and or installation. I'm not sure if Ironclad allows homeowners to purchase and install the units themselves? I was quoted $2,400 for the Ironclad 60" (delivered and installed). If the delivery/install guys are a few hours away are they going to deliver the unit, install the anchor with concrete etc., then come back in a few days to complete the install? I can purchase a MegaSlam for $1,600 and install it myself.

The Iron Clad clearly had several advantages . . . and as far as installing yourself, go for it. You've made a silly assumption on installation.

@@texasbrand1692 What are the advantages of the Iron Clad? I am researching and in the market for several hoops right now.

Yeah kind of seems like mega slam is basically the same or better than ironclad. Pro dunk definitely falls short.

5 gauge is thicker than 7 gauge. Wouldn't I want the mega slam since it has thicker construction pole?

This guy has a portable hoop standing in his driveway behind him as he tells you about which inground system you should buy.
    Lol.

The guy looks busy installing what the customer wants, in-ground for you & portable for someone else. Capitalism & free-will allows choice, Socialism & Totalitarianism . . . tells you all basketball goals must be in-ground.

IronClad has a 4 ft overhang but its the XL model...you compared it to the Mega Slam 60' and not the xl, which also has a 4ft over hang.

The megaslam XL has 5ft overhang. The 72 has 4ft
      The 60 has 3ft

only thing I think that matters is the backboard size other than that I would still choose mega slam

Mega Slam has models with larger backboards.

  • @stephengreen8255
    @stephengreen8255 3 года назад +2

Very biased towards Ironclad. The plate he talks about is just a bolt spacing template. The thickness of it doesn't matter. If the nuts above and below are on tight those bolts WILL NOT move. There are slight differences in the models and we install all of them. Most of the differences he was giving were minor made out to be bigger issues to favor Ironclad.

    • @Chrissers2010

Especially biased when you realize that the pole steel thickness of 5 gauge on the Mega Slam and Pro Dunk is actually thicker than the 7 gauge on the Ironclad. Most people probably don't realize that smaller gauge numbers means thicker steel.

As for the poles, is there much difference between the megaslam 5 ga. thickness/build and the ironclad 7 ga. thickness/build quality? Can you tell that it is thicker on the megaslam?
